Date when project was supposed to happen: July 31, 2021

David Nester and this "Company" is a family of scammers. My initial phone conversation was for a kitchen project with a sliding door which they assure they can do. There were no measurements taken, or no quote to be given. All communication after the initial 1st phone conversation has been through text thereafter. I was given a simple, quick put-together invoice price based on pictures of my house sent through text. I was asked to pick a sliding door via 3 pictures sent by text, where we proceeded to set a date, and I also sent my deposit of $2, 000 through Zelle. By this time all of my alarm bells were ringing but I had blinders on for a very specific reason. This project was important to me because it meant that I could have a backyard wedding like I had been planning for some time now.
So, after the deposit was sent, David a few days later texted me to say I "forgot" to provide an additional amount which totaled to $223.86 that would cover permits and prices to the invoice. None of which was discussed prior, or even provided on said invoice. At this point I knew 99% he was a scammer, but I was so determined to get my kitchen door so I did it.
Nearly a week after this I waited for the day of the project to arrive, where in the meantime I had heard absolutely nothing from David Nester. He never even responded to me the day before the project when I asked him a time frame of his arrival. On the day of the project, Saturday July 31, I finally received a text from David saying they were having vehicle trouble and that if they don't make it they would try for tomorrow. My heart dropped since I knew that was my 100% that just became clarified; he scammed me. Of course he didn't pick up when I tried to call him twice, so completed disgusted I wanted to just walk away. I did end up asking him to at least do the right thing and give back $1, 000 so I can have some kind of peace of mind, but he ignores it and tried to assure me the project will get taken care of.

In all, I was scammed by giving this person $2, 223.86 under the pretense that I was going to have a project done which they never showed for.

Invoice here: https://app.invoicesimple.com/v/9sJcHxKPCU
*note* he never changed the start date to July 31

Desired outcome: Refund of my $2,223.86
