THIS PLACE IS A BILLING NIGHTMARE BECAUSE THEY ARE DISHONEST! Don’t believe me? Read other reviews of them online. It is the same tune written by many many others. After seeing all of them I regret not doing some research on them prior to going there. God bless the Internet and the information it provides!

After getting one of their add fliers in the mail for a free cleaning, initial exam, etcetera I went to Dossett Dental with my oldest son, after confirming they accepted our insurance and setting an appointment over the phone. I told them I want them to know exactly what insurance covers because I do not want anything done (x-rays) that is not covered; we are just there for a cleaning. They confirmed they would not do that and the appointments proceeded without incident. Now, three months later I get a 'past-due' bill for my son's cleaning for $258! Aside from the fact I made it very clear before the appointments that I wanted nothing done that insurance would not cover I verified the insurance that they cover 100% cleanings and even annual x-rays. Then on the bill they sent is a hand written note that “If $87 is paid toward balance for the adult dental cleaning the rest of the balance will be adjusted”. Adult cleaning? Only two of us came in and I had a coupon ad that made one of our initial visit cleanings free! Makes me wonder, do they just send bills out knowing most people will simply pay them (months after the appointment) and then also charge insurance? Do they send coupons for free cleanings then charge the insurance (and patient too) after the fact? Something is fishy about any business that doesn’t send a bill for three months and then labels the bill they send as “90 days past due”. After discussing the issue with Matt he said they don’t take the insurance my son has, even though I called and verified they accepted it before making the appointment and then again on the day of the appointment. Oh yea, and they apparently did more work than the coupon covered so THAT is not going to cover their charges either. So the coupon is a scam as well.

Aside from all that, I never had a cleaning done so quick and incomplete in my life. About 2 minutes was spent polishing ALL my teeth and there was almost no time spent working around my gums, the spots I don’t get very well. Anyways I normally leave the dentist feeling my teeth with my tongue because they are so smooth and clean, but I they didn’t feel that way when I left Dossett Dental.

I went in and got 3 teeth extracted. The dentist gave me 12 Tylenol 3s for the pain. Well I'm out of pills and still in a lot of pain... I called and was told that it should have been enough and argued with me about me being in pain. I'll never go back. Total bs. She said you can come in and see if u have dry socket. I'm not driving 40 minuted when I know its not dry socket its just still painful on the side where two teeth were pulled. I asked for like 2 days worth and she just argued with me for like 5 minutes. Made me feel so betrayed that I wasn't taken care of as they promised. This is the Dossett Dental in McKinney.

This complaint is very very true and accurate. The comment proceeding the complaint however is not. I had a similar experience with Dossett Dental in Hurst. I found them on the insurance preferred listing and made a same day appointment as I had a very badly infected tooth in need of a root canal. When the dentist first came in I thought she seemed rather young (come to find out now she is young and only graduated dental school in late 2007.) She evaluated my mouth and came up with roughly around 10 grand in dental work she claimed needed to be done. Immediately came in some foreign lady who had a strong accent and was rather nice. She had me fill out some paperwork and explained it was for financing. In severe pain at the time I didnt think twice about it and signed the form. The dentist wanted to began the procedure that day even though I had always heard in the past that you never work on a tooth that is infected or absessed. She insisted on the procedure and claimed that with my face, neck and jaw completely swollen that she would need to drain the infection. She began by attempting to dedon my mouth. She explained that there would be 3 injections. Now the dentist I had prior to this dentist could give me a shot in my mouth and you would feel nothing more than a slight pressure sensation in your cheek. But this dentist hurt me so bad I was screaming bloody murder with tears pouring out of my eyes. After the second shot I said no way let me up you are not going to work on my mouth. With the needle in hand waiving it in front of my face she says "oh no you are not going to do this. Lay back down and let me finish" I screamed "oh yes I am get out of my face and let me up now" I was balling my eyes out in severe pain. Then the lady with the accent came along and tried to comfort me. "she said come back to morrow and I will pair you up with a different dentist. I walked to the front with her and she had some papers for me to sign. I looked down and there were two reciepts one for $1200 and one for $1800 that read sales reciept transaction at the top and she wanted me to sign them both. I questioned her and asked her what they were for. She said I got you approved for a care credit card for $3000 and these are the charge reciepts where I charged the card for the approval amount of $3000. I said I beg your pardon. She said the card company wouldnt approve you for $10000 which is what you need so I got approval for $3000. I said wait a second why would you charge the card for $3000 when I didnt have any work done today and the insurance company covers all buy $250 of a root canal anyways and I had planned on paying cash for it once the procedure was complete. She said I told you we were going to get you approved for financing you wasted my time. I said ma'am credit back this card for the full amount right now. She told me that it costs Dossett Dental $250 per credit application and I just cost them money. I said why would you charge me $3000? She explained that I would then have an open balance with them instead of on the credit card. I told her that was fraud. She told me that I now owed them $88 for the office visist and prescriptions. I said well are you going to fill the prescriptions for me then? And she said no the pharmacy will do that. So I told her then you cannot charge me for the prescriptions if you dont intend on filling them. I said as far as the office visist goes you can bill my insurance for whatever you need to bill them for. She said ok then you have a $50 copay. I looked her dead in her eyes and said I am not a fool lady, dental insurance has no F***** co-pays! and alittle stunned her jaw dropped as I walked out that door. For the next 6 days my mouth hurt in throbbing pain from where she injected me with shots in my mouth. I didnt notice the pain from the tooth because the pain from the shots was so intense. I also since the appointment went online and found out the dentist has only been out of college since late 2007...yet she was going to perform a major operation in my mouth unattended by any other dentists? Run for your life you can email me if you want more details or more information that is how serious I am about these people. ARKN2006 at GMail dot COM

I was reading the review right before mine and i had a different experience. the flier i got said only exam and xray are complimentry not cleaning. and it sounds like the cleaning you got was a deep cleaning and insurance usually only covers the minor cleaning at 100% at least my insurance does. so maybe you should do research on your insurance and pay more attention to the work your having done and what cleaning your needing cause it sounds to me that you were just not paying full attention to detail.
