Purchased a pc game through this company online, however the game has never worked. Company refuses to issue refund becuase I was given a key to activate thegame at the time of purchase. Regardless of teh fact the game was nver activated or played as it has never worked and crashes immediately upon start up. Company is a HUGE RIP OFF

I bought a guide from direct2drive and it wouldnt download.
I spent 3 days tryin to resolve the problem with 'csr' and couldnt.
They had me doing every thing from a to z and nothing worked.
They esculated it to a senior csr who had me do the same things and
that didnt work. Then they ignored me for two days. I went back to the site and bought the guide again and it downloaded perfectly.
I then contacted csr again and they wanted me to do some more trobule shooting for them;. I refused and they posted on their site--
solved by 'csr' and closed the ticket.
And yes they charged me for the seccond guide.

Ordered computer game through Direct2Drive. Received game plus activation code and tried it out--crashed. Got advice from game maker's tech support--they said that my brand new computer was nevertheless not powerful enough for the game's video requirements, something not at all obvious in the online documentation. They suggested asking for a refund from the vendor. But Direct2Drive will not refund once an activation code is given, yet using the code is the only way to run a game to see if it works. A catch 22. Definitely think twice before using this vendor. They've certainly lost my business.

I purchased a game online from this company. I downloaded it - it did not activate - got that figured out and then the game crashes immediately, I worked with their customer service 3 times and did all that they said and nothing worked. I did all of this within 48 hours of purchase. I requested a refund and have not heard anything back from them - this service is not worth the effort based on the constantly changing environments with firewalls, 32 bit versus 64 bit operating systems - there is too much complexity - for this service to work efficiently. Save your money.

I have had several successful purchases at direct2drive. Most often, these are new games, at high prices, to run on a relatively new computer. HOWEVER...
There have been purchases I have made at direct2drive at discounted prices. And THOSE are the programs I have trouble with.
The software will download, install, and activate. But in two cases (Grand Theft Auto Vice City and Section 8) on a PC running Windows 7, the games simply crash.
When this happened the first time, I contacted direct2drive requesting help. I made a special and separate login for their support site. I carefully described the issue. And you know what they did? NOTHING. The ticket expired 10 days later due to non-activity (I got an email notice). Upon logging into their "support" ticket system, it was obvious that the ticket expired after 10 days with NO ACTIVITY other than my original ticket creation!
Never mind the few successful purchases, they simply are unacceptable in how they handled that. BUYER BEWARE!

Perhaps this commenter works for Direct2Drive. Wouldn't surprise me.

I had a similar problem. After 8 hours of downloading I would end up with a single corrupt file that would not reveal itself until i started unzipping and installing my download. I tried numerous times to redownload, support was no help and my request for refund was bounced around and ignored. I tell everyone to avoid this service like the plague.

It sounds like you are asking Direct2Drive to support your game and a problem on your computer. If a game is crashing when you play it you go to game support and not to the cashier that sold it to you. It's no different than buying a cd, the cashier doesn't help when you install the game on your computer. You also can't take a used game back to the store.

Fromwhat you described the Direct2Drive service worked fine, your computer or the game is what is crashing. What you need to do is contact support for the game.

I have had nothing but good luck with Direct2Drive. Fast downloads, good prices (and sales), and attentive Customer Service. Did you contact their CS?

I have had trouble getting games to install myself. Their CS has helped me - often directing me to the publisher - where I eventually got satisfaction. If you buy the game at Walmart and it doesn't install - do you go back to Walmart for install help or go to the manufacturer? (And Walmart will not refund your money if the plastic wrap is off the case). I guess I (we) shouldn't count on the CS groups of Direct2Drive, Steam, Impulse or anyone else to make a publishers game work. They are just the distributors.

I am going through the same thing with D2D. They are unable to provide a solution and will not give me a refund or credit.

There final answer was to contact the manufacturer of the game!

Buyer Beware...
