Contractor Pyles did an unacceptable job on the columns on the porch. He used treated lumber to construct the columns and then painted the columns. Within a few weeks, the paint on the columns began to peel. Upon informing Pyles, he repainted the columns and again within a few weeks, the paint on the columns peeled. Pyles indicated that the columns had to be wrapped and he did not have the resources to do this. He had accepted this job without the knowledge or tools on how to complete it. He indicated that we would have another contractor perform this. At this point, Pyles had been paid in full for the job long ago as the paint had not started to peel. Pyles walked off the job without completion.
I asked Pyles repeatedly to complete the job and he refused to do so. Finally, after 6 months, he became irate with me for asking him to finish and sent an equally incompetent contractor over to do his work. The results were horrific, and a corresponding claim has been files against Contractor#2.
Other sources have informed me that you never paint treated lumber with favorable results. Pyles should have been knowledgeable of this or should not have accepted the job.
Desired outcome: Either complete the job he was paid to do or reimburse me for costs incurred to have the work completed by another party.
