On August 16, 2022, we ordered ECO-WORTHY Solar Panel Tracking System Dual Axis with Tracker Controller, Solar Tracker Linear Actuator Complete Kit for Solar Panels, sold by DC House, for a total of $613.78, Amazon Order Number [protected].
Our tracker is bolted to a 6' x 6' concrete pad. The description of the product clearly states it can stand in hurricane or storm without problem. We recently had 35 mph winds and all three bolts broke completely in half, requiring the frame to be welded for stability (see photos). This should not have happened.
Other problems we've encountered are (1) Neither the main shaft nor the cross bar are properly sized; both are loose and flop around when there is even a light breeze (see photos). Clearly a design flaw. (2) Have to manually turn the tracker to the south direction every morning in order for it to be ready for the morning sun. (3) Have to manually turn the tracker to a horizontal position when the wind speed picks up. And even doing this, the bolts broke with 35 mph winds as mentioned above. The system should automatically turn to the south direction every morning and should automatically turn to a horizontal position with increased wind speeds. More design flaws.
Also encountered a problem when installing the system where the bolt holes didn't align in order to mount the unistrut that the panels mount on. And the mounting bracket for the eye that follows the sun is improperly designed and doesn't mount correctly as the directions state.
For the amount of money spent on this solar panel tracking system, we expect a better quality product with fewer design flaws. We've sent three emails and haven't received the courtesy of a response to any of them. That in itself shows the integrity of this company.
