CMI staff is unprofessional and unethical. They bully and threaten with a promise of "a black mark on your credit" if you don't "pay up". How is it legal for this company to report information to credit agencies when the information is untrue? Citisearch is using this company to extort funds from small businesses around the country. Both of these companies should be investigated for fraud and illegal practices!

CMI has been in business for 40 years...Unethical, Illegal and unprofessional is slander. If any of the above was true we would be out of business, think about that.

I work for a trash company and one of our customers is being harassed by this company saying they owe over $1000 for a write-off amount from our company. We do not even use this company for collections and the customer has never been late paying us. I tried calling CMI and got a voicemail and was told someone would call me back regarding this. Our customer said that the woman he spoke with (I do have her name and phone number) was very rude to him and began yelling at him when he disputed the amount due. I am still waiting on a call back from this woman, but from what i see on the other reviews, I doubt I will hear or receive anything.

I just received a nasty phone call from this company. I sold my business and they are calling me telling me that I personally owe one of my vendors money. Unfortunately, the business is gone so there is no money to pay them. They are saying that I signed personally for the debts. I requested that they send proof of the agreement and they will not send it.

listen folks..i used to work for them...if they break the f.d.c.p.a ( which you can find online)...then you can sue them...if not they aren't the ones who will sue you but the company the represent...if you don't do anything to dispute the bill then you owe it...sorry but that is the law! B2B is good paper...meaning that most of it is true...the consumer is responsible for disputing the debt not the other way around...it may sound harsh...but if you want to contact me...you can...ixxinoo@yahoo.com..thnx

CMI keeps calling me. However it came about, the bill is my responsibility and I own that. The same guys calls me from CMI, changing his voice everytime, mocks me and insults me. Highly unprofessional. I would rather not pay them and pay the company I owe directly instead because he is such an [censor]. Gladly pay the amount owed if I get to kick his teeth in. Hope this helps you mentally because unfortunately, there is nothing any of us can do against these types of jerks.

You have to love how quickly people will jump to posting negative remarks about collection agencies. First and Foremost, you need a check or a credit card to set up a CitySearch account. So if you have an open account, THEN YOU VOLUNTARILY GAVE THAT INFORMATION. So there's no "fraud" or "ID theft." Why on earth would someone steal your info to pay for advertising for YOUR business? If you are in collections with CitySearch then that means that your credit card was declined or your check bounced. I think you guys get mad because you ASSUMED your business would boom because you opened an online advertising account. As if the local pizza shop needs online advertising.

I agree. I signed up for citysearch years ago but was never billed and never received any calls from the ad. I even forgot about the account it had been so long. Then I get a bill in June saying I owed $18. I sent an email requesting information and never received anything in return. I couldnt even access my account. Now they say I owe over $80. I just got a letter from CMI saying "despite our previous notice, you have remained unresponsive." This is the first correspondence from them. How do I make them go away? They certainly aren't getting any of my credit card info.
