On October 5, 2009, my wife saw Dr. Christopher Rall for abdominal pain, weight loss, dry hair/hair loss, bloating, bowel obstruction and very loud bowel sounds. He performed a rushed, very painful endoscopy. He did not look at the medical records including the CT scan or CD we were asked to bring - mumbling something about "not getting them" (duh!). Rall’s solution to her symptoms? “Put corn oil in your hair for the dryness”.

For this sage advice, our insurance was billed $6,531.08 and we were billed $1,575.07. Now, 9 months later we STILL do not have a diagnosis, we STILL do not have a treatment plan. Kathy Rice, Manager of Patient Financial Services lied about the poor service, violated the HIPAA laws and now has the gall to send US to collections. Well, the tables have turned; we are sending HER to collections!

Here is the rundown on how Ms. Rice responds to complaints:

“Ms. X’s concerns have been extensively and thoroughly reviewed”.

Impossible: On February 22, Rice wrote: “Could you please supply me with a copy of the CT scan, MRI Scan, Physician Records, CD, and DVD and our Medical Legal Department will take a look at these?” How is it that the “Medical Review Board” supposedly twice reviewed the case when they just claimed they don’t have the records?

We are still awaiting the replacement costs of the lost medical records.

“…her subsequent provider diagnosed her with irritable bowel syndrome.”

An outright lie; she has never been diagnosed with IBS. In any case, how would The Marshfield Clinic Business Office have gained access to her subsequent medical records without violating the HIPAA laws?

“Ms. XXX had a complete work up for celiac disease and there was no evidence of that diagnosis.” Another lie; Marshfield never recommended or followed through with a gluten-free diet, the only true standard for diagnosis of celiac disease (Google “celiac disease diagnosis – new standard”). She was put on a gluten-free diet at Froedert Hospital (Milwaukee) which resulted in complete elimination of the celiac symptoms. The other symptoms are getting worse.

Again, it is now 9 months later and we still do not have a diagnosis, we still do not have a treatment plan; but we do have a pile of bills!

Avoid them at all costs! We have reported them to the BBB where they maintain a floundering B- rating, the Department of Health and Human Services, Humana, and have started collection proceedings.

I would take them to small claims court for negligence. Be sure to bring all your proof.

I am concerned about a Doctor and the Patient Experience Department refuses to review my complaint and/or what they did to review. It appears that they have read the Doctors notes and are resting on that as the reason my complaint and refusal to pay bill will not result in any further action. Ironically the Dr Faber, the Dr that I have issues with, went to the same Medical School as Dr Parkhurst who is the Assistant for patient medical experience and refuses to explain his 'findings'. It feels like there is some 'back scratching' going on. He has put the nurse liason 'Rex' as an obstacle for me to contact anyone. All I want is an explanation as to what has been reviewed. I want an explanation as to why I still should pay a bill.

I was referred to Dr Faber, a social worker in the Mental Health Department, by my amazing Ob GYN. I had concerns about post partum depression, as I suffer from clinical depression and was pregnant. I live in a rural area without many resources and wanted to know what the symptoms were, and what to do if my husband or I 'spotted' any symptoms. I left diagnosed with PTSD, a physical description of how my brain was damaged (no scan...I have an IQ of 144...interesting if I have brain damage), and felt threatened as she told me if she wanted to see me she could make that happen.

I will be curious to see how this plays out as I am not going away and I will not let this rest. Dr Faber is a dangerous, self serving bully. It has been advised that if I continue this path, myself and my family will no longer be welcome at 'any of the Marshfield Clinics or offices'. My son has a heart condition and has a brilliant, kind cardiologist that has been seeing him for about a year now. It seems that Dr Faber may not be the only bully at Marshfield.

I agree, avoid them at all cost! I ended up there with an emergency in the birth of my first son. The delivery doc was nice & efficient, and the nurses were OK but that's where "nice & OK" ends! When I received my itemized bill a while later I was livid. Ridiculous charges for things I did not want, need, ask for, and was not informed of. The line of action is this: Nurse says, "Here, this is for you." and hands me a can of some kind of spray. Later I'm billed $400 for that stupid can! Several IVs plugged in, and stuff pumped into me. I was never told what or why, just charged for it! And can we get them to reduce that bill? NO WAY! The gals in Account management are nasty. And now they don't like the way we're trying to pay, keep rejecting it, and claim they receive no payment. I just talked to (another) gal from accounting, and she actually told me that the management is the ones rejecting the payments. I don't mind the folks lower on the ladder. It's the Pediatricians who think they own your child, the Drs who think they're God, and the Managers who are ### that I have a Big Problem with. Stay away. They will drain your finances and then some!

I too am in a situation that financial services lied. I had an office visit that I was disputing . I asked for a phyciacal which is 100% covered by my insurance, it was coded as an office visit which goes against my deductible. I called to dispute it . With vacationss and people forgetting to look into it. I started calling in October to get resolution. Dec 6 it was sent to collections.; Dec 27th i got a letter apologizing for my frustration and the length of time it took to resolve. They sent it to collections three weeks before it was resolved. Iwas told it would not be sent to collections. I set up a line of credit with Alliance in case it wasnt resolved in my favor. They never even gave me the option of sending it to the medical line of credit that i opened thru marshfield. I kept calling to get that resolved and they said they would call me back, I called every two to weeks since then. In my file that they have they have it written that I hadnt been able to be reached!. I am so angry. My credit has been affected. I cant get a car. My car broke down. This is awful. Their financial services manager should be fired. They lied througout my ordeal too. Do you have any addresses to send my complaint to. I even have a letter from the collections company that they are willing to have this taken back by marshfield and are just waiting for them to call. I want it to be put on my line of credit i have already opened and today after calling for the umteenth time Someone finally said, nothing is going to be done with this and there was nothing indicating that I was to recieve a call back.
