Purchased a SANYO DP47460 47" Flat Screen TV from Walmart February 2011 and have been having problems with it turning itself off since October 2012. Have been able to get it to come back on previously but now after a couple of times it just stays off and that is it for more than an hour. This is not what I want a TV to do because trying to watch a movie or something straight thru just is not possible. Having seen that there are hundreds of other people out there that are having the same problem and with other models as well I feel that it is time that we call upon our government to act upon this. A company selling a product that is failing in such a high rate should have to do a recall after all if this is something to do with an overheating problem that could be a potential for a house fire.

I purchased a Sanyo DP47460 in 5-6-2011 . This Television was used in my Bedroom with hardly any use. I paid around $989.00 for this television and now it does not work. I had no prior warning. I turned the television on and the screen went green and then clicked off and I have been unable to turn the television back on. I have read on the Internet that this problem is occurring in all models and even the Plasma. Sanyo is not standing behind their product and neither is Walmart. To have this television repaired can run between $300.00 to $800.00. What I have read is that Sanyo and Walmart has been aware of these problems which was caused from faulty components from the factory. I was lucky that my Television lasted a little over 3 years where most of the televisions have only lasted long enough to make it past the warranty coverage time. I also have read that the extended warranties purchase are not even covering the repair cause because they have been told that the extended warranty only covers surges. I have contacted Sanyo and their corporate office said they will not repair my television. I have also contacted Walmart and have not received any response. Samsung had this same problem with their television sets and the state of Oklahoma did a class action and won a very large settlement and they had to repair the televisions or pay the people who no longer had the sets if they could prove purchase. Why isn't their any class action law suits against Sanyo or Walmart to make them fix this problem at their expense.
