Grady Miller, Jr a rep from A/S and a local boy in this area, came out in March 2010 got the Allstate coverage started, I rec'd a check and the next guy came out from A/S to collect my 4, 800.00 half of the balance, the said I'd be scheduled in a few weeks for the crew to come out..every month since April A/S has called and moved me to the next month, now stating Sept, shame on me for giving them the money which they cashed in two days. Everytime you call you get a machine..no call backs.
But I have a new concern on top of all the other...now another roofing company has told me American Shingles has gone bankrupted..I'm still researching that, but ODD when you call EVERY one of the offices in the US the recording states the same..we are currently closed while we are relocating to our new facility to better serve your needs, we will reopen 08/16/10...hhuummmmm not a good sign..and yes..I will be calling Monday 8/16/10 to see if they can better serve me. I also had requested a refund, which was a continued drawn out affair..Atty time..BEWARE IN ATLANTA BBB THEY HAVE A "S" RATING, THAT BEING THE LOWEST ...PROBABLY STANDS FOR SUCKS...

Homeowners across the country have complaints against Atlanta-based "American Shingle, " accused of failing to install roofing and Arkansans are adding their names to the growing list of victims.

We all know when something sounds too good to be true it probably is, but that's what sets this scheme apart form others. It seemed reasonable, a successful company with offices nationwide.

Now, it has millions of dollars and customers say they have nothing to show for it and the Attorney General's office is out for justice.

After a May storm, the Garrisons received a knock on the door from an American Shingle representative soliciting their business. The Garrisons' insurance company did an inspection and gave them a check to get the roof fixed.

Tammy Garrison explains, "They set a date in July, cashed the check and then a couple days before they were to put the new roof on in July, they called and pushed the date back to August. In August they called and pushed the date back to September."

Garrison became suspicious and began researching, only to find hundreds of complaints nationwide. "The check was for $7, 000 and obviously we don't have $7, 000. Possibly they will just prosecute American Shingle, but we don't have a roof on our house."

Garrison recently received a letter from the company. She reads the first sentence, "It's says they are closing their doors due to experiencing financial hardship."

We called American Shingle and the voicemails picked up: "We are experiencing a high volume of calls. You may continue to hold for a representative or call back at a later time." Today's THV never got a response.

"You could just stay on the line indefinitely. There is nobody there, " Garrison points out.

Nationwide Attorney Generals office and Better Business Bureaus are getting involved. There are hundreds of complaints in nearly a dozen states. Here at the Little Rock office, their doors are shut.

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel says, "The complaints have really increased since mid-July. We have reason to believe there's between 100 to 125 Arkansans right now."

The total amount exceeds a million dollars. McDaniel is moving quickly to help victims get refunds and punish the company.

He adds, "Theses are huge dollars. These home owners run the risk of losing their insurance coverage not to mention having the damage of their homes only get worse. This is an outrageous, outrageous scheme designed to take advantage of people all over the United States."

Garrison looks at here invoice, "Who knows if we'll ever see payment from this."

The Attorney General's office is meeting with victims and planning to go to court.

According to the Better Business Bureau, roofing company "Southern Armor" has ties to American Shingle.

If you have a complaint with this or any company you're asked to call the Attorney General's Office.

turn on your pop up blockers before going to this news station :) All mr. hanky panky has to say for himself is we have no dealings with american shingle anymore.Only by a letter to. Guess they might could tell his lies with his shaky voice. I think he is bitting fingernails by now. Wonder why this rabbit hole is fun to dig in. Love the southern armor complaints towrds me- keep them coming please, show your angery side.

"Letters from lawyers. Attorney's offices asking for their clients' money back, " said American Shingle Customer David Osteen.

Back at the office in Huntsville, we got a tip that some American Shingle workers had moved around the corner.

Literally, right around the corner of the office building, we approached an unmarked door, and inside was former American Shingle Sales Manager Adrian Ingrey. He says he now works for Southern Armor Roofing.

His receptionist had also moved with him.

I asked Ingrey, "How is it that it's just around the corner from your office?"

He said, "I don't know. I don't know."

"And it's not affiliated with American Shingle?" I asked.

"No, not in any way, " he replied. "I wouldn't have anything to do with American Shingle anymore. They owe me $5000 in wages."

Ingrey eventually told us he opened Southern Armor here, which he says is based out of Birmingham.

I asked Ingrey, "How long has Southern Armor been in Huntsville?"

Ingrey replied, "I don't know. Not particularly long now. They've been going since about January of this year."

Ingrey later said he acquired the new office space about two weeks ago.

The BBB says as of Wednesday afternoon, Southern Armor had no business license with the city of Huntsville.

Further investigation showed there's a tie between the companies.

On Georgia's Secretary of State website, a man named Hank Smith is listed as American Shingle's secretary.

That same name is listed on Alabama's Secretary of State website. Only this time, Hank Smith is listed as a member of the company Southern Armor.

BBB of North Alabama President Michele Mason says Wednesday, her office received a letter from Mr. Smith, saying he is not affiliated with American Shingle anymore.

I also hope the attorney general hold them responsible, Also every state they worked in has their Attorney General investigating them. Here in NC we had local sherrifs try to deliver summons but of course the business was closed. I was fortunate enough to cancel my check before they went under thanks to a local news lady who ran the story the next day. Atleast your son was fortunate enough to have a roof put on even though it wasn't done right, Hopefully it won't be that much extra to fix as many here have waited for months only to recieve no such roof and lose their insurance check. While talking to my insurance agent he was telling about getting tons of phone calls from local people who were asking him if they could help get their money back. As he said, we write the check out to you and what you do with it is your decision, we can't pay the same claim twice. I am so mad at this company that i no longer trust anyone- added a no soliciting sign to my front door and will soon place a no trespassing as well. I plan on using the insurance check and doing the roof myself-that way i will know it's done right- plus i'm gonna talk to my insurance adjuter and see if he can have one lucky person my phone number- hopefully a elderly couple etc. to use same money i get and help them replace their roof with same money i got. Thats how mad i am at the company and sorry i feel for the people ripped of in this big ponzi scheme. At least i know when i do something i do it right. Plus the most cost is the labor part of replacing a roof at which i have no problem doing myself to make sure it's waterproof and laid correctly. I hope everything works out for you, but believe the company went B/K only to re-open under www.southernarmor.com roofing
best wishes

My son is caught up in this mess, American Shingle put a new roof on his house and it leaked the first time it rained. After checking the roof we found that the shingles were not lined up properly and there were many places where there were nails poking up through the shingles among other problem we found. American Shingle has been jerking my son around for about 7 months and finally agreed to give him a refund but I guess that remains to be seen now. This company sucks big time, I hope the Attorney General of Alabama holds the owners liable for money owed to the people they have screwed...

well Mr. pond ### I don't help american't shingle employees. If you knew the owners as you say you do than you should know the info i gave is true. Wow- BBB has new owners for company- thats a hard trick to pull off isn't it? Thanks for the extra names though as i will be soon posting the personal home address's and telephone numbers to their direct house-let them feel what it feels like to be harassed at their home. It's just insurance money right? who cares? I do. If you knew the owners than you knew the scam the whole time- The shingle company cuy you guys off a long time ago cause you owed them to much money :) that's probably the reason for delay after delay right? The sub-contractors you used in which they probably got 30% of job at most-haven't been paid giving them legal right to place a lien on homeowners home for a job they already paid for- SORRY if i don't feel sorry for you- NEVER WILL and hope you feel like ### that you are- And yes i do know who to summons to court for connection as thy weren't trying to let anyone know about this new company- oops- did i do that :) Enjoy it while you can scam-it won't last

I know the owners of American Shingle and the BBB report shows the owner of southern Armor is not one of them, so if you have information connecting that owner to either Dewayne Dunko, Rich stefffy or Marty Pureber please post it. I worked for American shingle in Macon and feel lower than pond ### for taking peoples money. I would be glad to help in any way to make sure they do not do this again in the future.

Again, i know who to summons to court, and have my own story to connect these 2 companies. I will be more than happy to go to court with anyone who got scammed- i was a day or 2 away from it. So this added my fuel to the fire. Want to pursue them, let me help. This has got to stop.

New company name WWW.SOUTHERNARMOR.COM
American shingle went B/K only to reopen under this new name with your stolen insurance money. They already open 2 offices and i am sure that we will see more in upcoming weeks.
I got proof these 2 are the same for anyone who needs it.

Our American Shingle debacle started in April when a "neighbor" stopped to talk to my husband about the damage she saw when she drove by our house. Turns out the neighbor was renting the house down the street from ours and has moved out. We were originally scheduled for June, then July, then August, and finally my husband got a call to re-schedule for September and he gave them three choices, refund our money, do our roof job as scheduled August 12, or he was going to call the state's attorney general. He got a call back that the paper work to refund our money was going to be sent certified mail. It has been a week, no certified mail received, the phone numbers in Raleigh and Georgia state relocating offices and will reopen on Monday, August 16. Our check has long ago been cashed. Don't know where the $$$ has gone, but will pursue this issue. I would not recommend them at all! Beware.

Oh yeah I know exactly what you mean. The Birmingham office is just as bad. After they put on the crappy roof, which now has more leaks than my old one, I demanded a refund. They have agreed to give me a full refund but want me to sign a waiver first and then they will begin to start the paperwork on my refund. I refused to sign the waiver unless they had the check in hand, because knowing them they will set me up and I will never get my money back... I already have an attorney going after them.
