I purchased a chromcraft solid wood table and four chairs ($1800) in December 2009. The table arrived and the color of the pedestal base was totally different from the table top as well as the chairs. This was also different from the wood sample. The company replaced the top to an "acceptable" color difference. The quality of the finish on the table top was terrible. It appears there is only one coat of finish and it had "soaked into the wood". After three months the finish was peeling off the table. Chromcraft says it is water damage and they are not responsible! The store where it was purchased, Ingrassia Furniture Rockford Illinois, will also not stand behind the product which they are selling in their store. It is impossible to contact Chromcraft directly as their website refers you back to the dealer. I would never deal with these people again. A manufacturer as well as store that will not stand behind there products is a disgrace!
The store called me after 3 months and said they had a new Chromcraft tabletop for me if I paid $65 delivery fee. No one ever told me that they were again replacing the top. When I asked if the finish was the same as the first one they said "yes". Why would I accept another with the quality of the first as well as pay them to deliver it.! I told them to keep their top! I will have this one refinished at my own expense.
I also have had bad luck with Chromcraft. I paid $960 for 4 wood dining room chairs and after having them for 11 months..the arms on 3 of them split. Even the furniture store I bought them from could not get Chromcraft to respond. I have written 3 letters...2 emails...and 1 phone call (which I was treated very rudely)...and yet no response from Chromcraft. Since then...the furniture store closed due to the owners retiring...and I am stuck with these poorly constructed chairs. I used to swear by Chromcraft...but now all I do is swear at them!
