My son hired movers to come May 13th 2022. He was given a quote 7000 @ 26 cents per pound $ $1820The company changed the pick up time to later in the day. Once truck was loaded . At no time did the movers communicate with my son or daughter at the Kitchener redundancy. Truck loaded my son and daughter head out to follow truck to London. Near Ingersoll the movers stopped for fuel. So my daughter and son went through the drive through and grabbed food. While movers got fuel. Once on the road again. My son started to receive calls and texts from someone at AYC office saying he needed to pay $3500 by e transfer within 5 minutes or truck would not be going to London. This was totally out of the blue. He asked for an explanation or invoice by e mail and asked if he could pay $1820 by cash . Which he had with him. This was refused. By this time in the day banks were closed. My son frantic stopped at a London bank to try and get funds from his credit card and my daughter called for assistance saying this seems odd. We are guessing the truck never was showing up. This company we find out now has many complaints and has scammed many people. Up to and over 10 thousand dollars. Police say it's a civil matter. We say theft. How can someone take a deposit and keep your belongings hostage. The company has other ways to recover funds if people don't pay them. People need to be aware not to deal with this company. CBC recently did a story on these scammers. Now we have no idea were his things are and he is devastated. I don't understand how this can happen. Please help us
