Went on chartered fishing boat in Acapulco, Mexico on June 8,2006.We caught a sailfish 9'4" approx 140lbs. After arrival back at docks while taking pictures we were approached by who we believe to be Roberto Hernandez Pena.

He said he was in the marine taxidermy business would we like to have our fish mounted. We went to his office looked at pictures of different mounts & decided on a mount at a price of $650.00 plus shipping & crating with an estimate of 225.00. We gave a deposit of $350.00 on a credit card.In approx. 6 weeks when fish was ready a bill was sent for the $300.00 balance plus $365.23 for shipping plus $97.50 for crating & insurance plus $75.00 for optional fishing certificate. We wanted to pay with a credit card they insisted we send a cashiers check for total we sent $837.73

We have not received our fish nor any response from Mr. Pena or his office. We have called, emailed & tried the fax several times each & have not got any call back.

We went deep sea fishing on Nov. 3 2008 and my husband caught a 8.5' sail fish that we got mounted. His parents paid for the mounting and shipping and it is now March 24 and we have yet to receive anything back. We have e-mailed several times and have still received nothing. We had our Cabbie down there, CIRO SALAZAR, who recommended the charter and said he would help us if we had any problems. We have not contacted him however, but feel as if this was a scam, especially after reading the other postings and how similar they were. I would love to get out money back b/c I know the fish is not an option at this time and all we have is memories and photos. I am furious at this and how easily it happened and want to somehow keep it from happening to others who decide to visit Acapulco. We stayed at the Mayan Palace and that is where we came into contact with the cabbie who recommended him. And how convenient on his business card it highlights "Deep Sea Fishing". Amazing. Any ideas to catch them, I am all ears.

We went deep sea fishing in Acapulco , GRO, Mexico on January 24, 2008 and caught an 8 foot sailfish. The captain of the boat, Lombardo, sold me a taxidermy mount of the fish. He had pictures on the boat of the style of mount I could choose. He had a carbon contract form in a tear out booklet that we filled out. The price was $500 for the mount and estimated shipping was $250. I had to leave a $300 cash deposit. I received an email from Roberto Hernandez Pena letting me know my trophy was ready. I was to send him the $200 balance plus shipping charges of $289.70 plus crating, packaging charge of $97.50. There was an optional charge of $75 for a fishing certificate. I was given two options to send the money. Either by western union or by bank wire transfer. I chose to use western union. I have not heard from him since I sent my money. I am out $887.20. The emails I send him are getting bounced back to me. When that started to happen I got on line to do some searching and found another complaint on this site about him. Please let me know if there are other out there and as a group we might be able to get him stopped.

i know how you feel...luckily i went on line and found out all about roberto hernandes pena before it was to late...last january we were in acapulco mexico for two weeks... i caught my first big fish ever, 8 and a half feet long 125 lbs sailfish, so we put 300 down to have it mounted and sent home to south dakota... two weeks after we went home i was curious to know how the fish was coming along so i tryed to call roberto...no answer or i couldnt get threw, so i faxed him that didnt work either .. so i went on line looked up marine taxadermy acapulco and robertos name came up on [redacted]s...so we called the credit card company and we got credited for the three hundred...was sad tho cuz i would of loved to have our fish, he emailed me 2 times wanting the other 500 to send us the fish, i emailed him back asking him how we can trust him ...no response... so forget it at least i have pictures and memories...im here to help with if you all need support and to stop him from doing this to someone else...sue nelson.. summit south dakota...

We, also, have been scammed. We have his business card and everything seemed legit. My husband and father in law went fishing Nov. 3 and cought and 8 1/2 foot sail fish and we too got it mounted and are now out approximately $1500. It was our Christmas present from his parents. Well, it is now March 25 and still received nothing. We have e-mailed consistently and gotten no response. He was prompt to e-mail us when he needed the rest of the money but have heard nothing of him since. Ugh! I am so irate with this situation and I don't know what we can do across the borders, but I want something back. I would love to have the fish, but our cabbie, Ciero Salazar said if we needed anything to call him and we were gonna call him, b/c he got the meat from our fish for being such a good cabbie during our stay. So maybe he can help but if anyone else has any ideas on how to get our money back b/c I have a feeling that the fish is not an option anymore, I am all ears and will help as well. THank you!

I had a very similar episode happen to me. We went deep sea fishing in Acapulco on January 24, 2008 and caught an 8 foot sail fish. The captain of our boat, named Lombardo, gave me the sales pitch on the boat. He had the photos of the fish mounts from which I could choose to have my fish mounted. He also had a carbon contract form in a tear off booklet that we filled out on the boat. The negotiated price was $500 for the mount and he estimated the shipping charges at $250. I had to give him a cash deposit of $300. I believe I met Roberto Hernandez Pena at the dock. I received an email from Mr. Pena letting me know my trophy was ready. It also listted the balance due amount of $200 plus shipping charges of $289.70 and crating charges of $97.50. There was an optional fee of $75 for the fishing certificate. My options were to Western Union him the money or Wire transfer to his bank account. I used Western Union. He has my money and has not responded to my emails. Since I never heard from him and my emails have been returned to me, I started looking on the internet and found this complaint. Let me know if there are others out there who have been scammed by this man. I have asked a local I know in Acapulco to help me. If there are others then we should go to the authorities. I don't know if the Mexican police would care but at least we should try.
