I can't cancel AMP. I try. For us before we sign up for the system the guy told us that we had 6 month to try the system to see if we like it or not, if within the 6 month period we don't like it then we could cancel it. Before the 6 month was up, since we are moving out, I call and same thing one of the representive say we sign up for 60 month and we only had 3 day from the day we sign up for it. I hate those people that giving out false information. Right now I just want to slap that guy who lie to us. I am still trying to cancel the alarm system since we wont be living here no more...wonder if anyone can help...? email me at [protected]@hotmail.com thank you.

The same thing happened to me. Sales person cane to my door and sold me on an alarm for a trial period that i could cancel. Said i had 30 days. Also told me it would lower my insurance significantly. I did what many here did. Foolishly signed the contract without reading. Just going on what the salesman said. Big mistake. When i called to cancel, i was told i had 3 days not 30. I looked at the contract and it does say that. My fault for not reading it. I called customer service several times and got the run around until they finally told me i was locked in. I admitted to them i should have read the contract but there salesman stood in my home and lied to my face. I offered to pay to have it uninstalled or cancel fee or whatever was fair but i didnt want to do business with this company. The sales tactics are shady. Told me i could cancel by paying the full 5 year contract off and that was my only option. Has anyone had any success getting out of their contract?

AMP sales rep was a hired gun for a local company. They came into my mother's home and claimed that they were from her current company and were there to fix the system. They took advantage of her, signed her to a new agreement, and now she can not cancel. Their deceptive tactics prey on the uninformed. This company is a scam and gives a bad name to all alarm companies. I would NEVER recommend this fly by night company.

I use to work for AMP in the customer service department and I have this to say, Read your contract. AMP goes out of their way to make sure that you understand the terms of the agreement you are getting into. There is the contract, that you have to read and to sign. Do not sign a contract if you have not read the agreement. Secondly, before the account is final AMP does 2 recorded phone calls with the customer where they make sure that the customer and AMP security are of the same understanding. If the customer does not agree to ALL the questions they will not finish the setup of the account.

I was always amazed when customers would call in telling me that they didn't know about the cancellation date, and then I would listen to the phone call where the same customer would agree to this exact date. The same thing happened with the monthly rates.

AMP was not trying to scam anyone. They are normal people that are working to make money. Yes, sometimes there were issues with a few representatives, but this was not accepted by AMP and those reps were handled as needed. AMP is a good company and their security systems work. They work with the best monitoring stations in the company to provide their customers safety and security at a competitive price.

I have a AMP/Honeywell alarm system installed and I could not be happier. I called other companies for over the phone quotes and it was outrageous fees for my home. I dont have a home phone line so I can see the higher expense but the difference was subtansial! I have never had to use my alarm system (thank god) but have had a couple of false alarms that were corrected over my cell phone instantly. I have recommeneded AMP to all of my frieds and family and my parents recently had one installed and so far are very happy!

OMG THIS COMPANY SUCKS! I'm reading these complaints I have went through the same thing some of you have. I will NEVER ANSWER MY DOOR FOR ANYONE unless I know they are on the way to my house, I'm that tramatized. PLEASE DON'T BUY A SYSTEM FROM THEM! The sales man came to my home and stated a free alarm system, with installation only thing I would have to do is post their sign in my yard. After about 5 mins, I let him in. We were talking and discussing paperwork and options. When we got to the end when everything was done all of a sudden we had to pay $100 for installation and $40 put front (after I was told it would only be $1 a day and I didn't have to put ANYTHING UP FRONT). Then I said I don't have that kind of money, the rep said they had a special account for people where he would tap MAC and give me money and I would pay him back within a month. I said fine. Once the tech got there to install the unit, I was told that I have to pay $35 to the city to have it registered (which should have been apart of his presentation). I'm like why didn't you say that before? He said if I didn't, if I pressed for police, fire, medical, I could be hit with a fine from the city for $150-$300!. After a day and a half, I called them said I was cancelling. They said I couldn't I said yes I can, I mailed my notice of cancellation. I know about those because my company uses them and as long as it's postmarked within the 3 days, that was acceptable. He didn't even fill it out so to me it wasn't valid! They received it and still didn't cancel it. Their supervisors and customer service reps are RUDE! I can have a better conversation with the wall! It was like talking to a brick wall, literally. I started getting irate with them and it was like literally talking to a dummy, no response, just silence. I e-mailed HANK one of their supervisors and he was no good. They would play around the phone and when I spoke to HANK, he was actually kind of laughin. CORY was another one that was very rude, he was the WORST! I filed with the BBB and their (AMP) response was I didn't cancel in time, so I left it alone because I was so tired of fighting them. They still deposited my check, and made my account go in the negative $140 even after I stopped payment. They processed it different when they deposited the check. They never gave me back my money. I begged them to take the system out, they wouldn't, they said it was mine for 5 years I was paying. I said ok, just cancel my account and the equipment can stay here because I'm moving anyway, their answer was, ok we will move it free, what's the new address? I'm like NNNNOOOO. I had to pretend to move and gave them an address of an abandoned house just so I won't be stuck with it. I had to change my bank account number. They were SO DUMB because they should have realized I wanted to cancel. After they came and removed the equipment because they thought I was moving, they tech knocked on my door 5 minutes later and I did NOT answer. LOL. I was ESTATIC! I don't care if it messed up my credit, my peace of mind is priceless! This company needs not to be around ANYMORE. This is the worse experience I EVER had buying something, NEVER AGAIN! It's not even worth them trying to improve, they are done, stick a fork in them. I was ripped off big time and why lock someone into a 5 year contract? That's worst then being in a cell phone contract. If someone doesn't want/like your service, let them CANCEL. They might change their mind and come back to you later...

I saw an ad by another company (ALARM SVC CO OF AMERICA) in writing saying if you refer them a new customer they credit you 2 months free, refer 7 total and they give you free monitoring for life. Seems their specialty is getting AMP/APX/SAI customers out of their contracts w/o any legal fees. Their rate is $25/mth, the agreement is 3 yrs, and they can use most existing alarm systems (switch for free). I've been using them for about a year and I'm quite happy with them, plus my first 2 months were automatically free. They've been around for 30 years I think and I can't find anything negative about them. I found them on Google and Facebook. Take a look at their page: www.asca-us.com
If any of you sign-up with them, they're instructing me to give you my unique PIN code (so I get the referral = 2 months free)! PIN: IC-7000 (Thanks if you decide to)

If you AMP are to worried about your reputation why you do not fix it?
One thing for sure, you need to train your customer service employees and managers as well. As a prove, you have your own recordings when a customer call your customer service. A good business is built with customers confidence and you do not have.

I have read through the posts above and would have to say I agree with most of them - AMP is a joke. It is all about the contract and sadly I was stupid enough to sign it without reading through the fne print or taking the time to think it over. But then again, I guess that is part of the sales tactic- the install team is inside your house within 15 minutes of you saying yes to the system. I have since sold my home and my options from AMP were to pay a $200 dollar re-install fee at my new home and continue with very poor monitoring service (I had my phone disconnected a month before the home was sold and I never once received a call from AMP inquiring why the alarm was no longer communicating), find someone else to take over the contract, or buy out the four remaining years on the contract for just over $3000. The persons purchasing my previous house had no interest in the security system and I was not about to pay $200 to have them move the system to my new home. So, I unwired the system myself and it is sitting in a box in my garage while I continue to pay the monthly monitoring fee. Here is the real kicker- the payments are automatically deducted from my checking account and for some reason they did not deduct May's payment. I continue to receive letters threatening late fees / service charges and disruption in my monitoring service (haha!) if I don't bring my account current. I fully admit I was stupid enough to sign the contract but believe me I have learned my lesson. In the meantime, I will tell anyone and everyone I can exactly what I think of this company and I will continue to research legal ways to get out paying them for nothing- literally nothing. AMP- stay far far away from this company.

Summer, door to door companies are a scam. The alarm industry as a whole isn't. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ANYONE WHO KNOCKS ON YOUR DOOR!

Also, you cannot tell when someone's contract expires by looking at the sign. The date on the sign is when the sign was made, not tied to the contract.

If the customer already has a security system the sales reps look at the bottom corner of the sign in the customer's yard if it is ADT to see the date of when their contract expires. If the security system has expired the rep tells the customer that he or she is with the customer's current company and is only there to give them an update on their security system. Then they have the customer sign another five year contract with AMP without the customer knowing. And switches them to AMP monitering. If this isn't fraud I don't know what is.

And when you get out to the city you are going to sell in and find out that there are 8 to 9 other security companies in the same city competing for your area, it makes it alot harder to get sales. The security business is a scam, don't waste your time trying to sell it, you will get screwed. And at the end of the summer you will wish you would have listened to the random guy on the internet.

As far as the sales reps go, alot of them don't know what they are getting into when they sign up to go sell security systems. They don't know that they are only paid on a sale if it is active for six months. Meaning that the customer has been making on time payments for six months, but the company still makes money on the account. This wouldn't be such a problem except the areas where you are sent to sell security systems are high crime areas, people only live in these areas because they can't afford to live anywhere else, meaning they can't always pay their bills, so if you sell them a system, there is a likely chance the customer won't pay the monitering bill for six months, meaning you don't get paid on it, and you just wasted your time and gas money to sell them a security system. The managers of the sale teams often take for themselves the fringe areas, meaning they give themselves the best areas where the people have more money but live close to a ghetto so there is alot of crime. So in the manager's areas there are far better credit scores per house, meaning more sales. The managers then send the reps that aren't their close buddies to the ghetto to sell to people that have bad credit and even if they get a sale, there is a greater chance of the account defaulting becuase they can't afford to pay their bills. Far more sales reps come home early than stay out selling for the whole summer.

AMP is a scam. The company is set up to get people locked into a five year contract that they can't break.Thats the only way the company makes money. The company's top selling rep is a drug addict that abuses aderal when he is knocking doors. The sales representatives often check people's credit without them knowing. The sales reps that go door to door make more money on the least amount of security equipment they give out. So they have an incentive to screw people by only giving them two door sensors and a motion detector and then charging them an activation fee of 99 dollars and charging them a ridiculous amount of 45 dollars a month for five years for the system to be monitored. The more equipment a sales rep gives out the less money he or she makes on the sale. NEVER BUY A SECURITY SYSTEM OFF YOUR DOOR STEP! These sales reps use tactics that pressure people into buying right then and there. Even the owner of this company is extremely shady when he sells. He tells people that the security system is free if they will help the company advertise by putting an AMP sign in there yard. Then when he gets inside their house and sits down to fill out the paper work he brings up the 45 dollar a month price and says its just a small fee to stay connected with the police so they respond when the alarm goes off, but he tells them that they are getting the equipment for free. Well, all alarm companies will give you the equipment for free, they make money by charging between 39 and 45 dollars a month for a five year term. So the owner goes around lying to people telling them they are getting a free alarm system to get inside their house where it is harder for the customer to say no to the monthly monitering fee.

I used to work for AMP talking to the customers about what they've understood before everything is finalized. The phone calls are recorded and we talk so fast that you %100 agreed to the 3 days over the phone at least. There is no way the system could go online unless you did. I agree the sales reps are sketchy; many times the customer would say "they told us 7 days not 3" and we'd have to fix the problem. They try to get away with a lot.

Bottom line is:

Amp works

Customer service sucks

You probably paid an activation fee that you shouldn't have had to pay

I've found MANY systems that have been active for a year but NEVER "online". So if they did have a problem the police would never know. So customers paid money for a system that wasn't working.

...I hate the company for the way they treated all the employees and I felt like I was cheating people when I talked to them on the phone. I will never work for an alarm company again. In my mind they are all scams one way or another.

There is a reason why all sells reps in New York were fired and shut down...

p.s. Brandon is full of himself. If they tell you they CAN'T do anything they are lying to you.

It seems that by your own terms you scammed me. First you called your partner a husband then a boyfriend. What is he? Don't lead me to believe you are married and then say boyfriend. Come on lady. And besides. I really don't believe that your husband/boyfriend lost his job within the cancellation period. Sounds like you got sold not scammed and then changed your mind. Be responsible for your decisions and don't blame them on a college student trying to get through school.

The sales representative mislead you and now the whole company is a scam? That rep should be held accountable for sure. Did the system not work? Was the equipment faulty? Was it not connected to central monitoring? How can an install of anything that works be a scam. If the cable guy gives you a free TV and then lies about the cancellation period, you still get cable, so it's not a scam. A scam would be that you did not recieve any service for the money provided or that the services was less than agreed upon. This seems not to be the case in your situation. So you were mislead, yes, but not scammed. How can a company that provides the service promised you and you agreed to pay for be a fraud? I't can't. I'm sorry you were treated poorly and even mislead, that seems to happen to me with the cable guy, pizza place, DMV (not to mention all other government activites), and especially with my cell phone company. Are they all frauds? Not last I checked.
