We were looking for a Major Medical Insurance Company for my husband. After filling out the information needed Adova called and spoke with us about their health insurance and it sounded so good we went ahead and signed up. Come to find out, they are not a health insurance company but a medical discount company. The lady on the phone told us that they were not a discount company but an insurance company and for us to be wary of discount companies. She also told us that they pay 80% of doctor’s visits and that was not true. Adova is in fact a medical discount company and I feel that people should be warned about them. When I realized that we had been lied to, I called the company immediately to cancel the application I was told I would get a full refund of the $299.95 that was deducted from our bank account in 7 to 10 business days. I waited for a month and no refund. I called the company again and am now being told that I would only get a refund of $199.95 because $100.00 is non-refundable. Not only do they lie to the public but they steal your money too.

I am an investigator with the Pennsylvania Insurance Department in Harrisburg, PA.

I am conducting an inquiry into Adova Health / Consumer Alliance USA. I would like to communicate with any Pennsylvania consumers who have had dealings with these guys.

There is no allegation of wrongdoing at this time. However, the Department wants and needs as much information as possible in order to make an informed decision and if necessary, take steps to protect Pennsylvania consumers.

I was a member of adova health and they misrepresented themselves to me also. I was told that my major medical would be covered up to 80%. I was sadly mistaken. I have cancelled the policy, and have told them that I am writing the Insurance commision for my state, THEY HAVE TO BE STOPPED.....I had to pay all my own doctor visits and prescriptions (one of my sons prescriptions total $125.00 per month!!) I am self employed and it is sooo difficult to get insurance so of course they made this sound wonderful....I advise anyone that has been ripped off by Adova to report them to the insurance commisions.

I was a member of Adova health until last summer. Since I left them, I have received 2 different bills from doctors that I had seen when I was a member. Adova did not pay either one.

I have been trying to contact them, but since I no longer have my insurance card with my number, they say they cannot help me. They told me that I do not exist in their data bank when checking under my name and address.

I am ready to write to the California Insurance Commissioner and suggest that other victims do the same in their states.

    This has to stop.
