I have had Sentry Insurance for over 10 years and all they do is continue to raise my rates and tell me they will not pay for claims.
Ruid customer service reps and constant agent turn over. Very out spoken managent. Check aroud there are way BETTER companies out there! DO NOT GET SCREW LIKE WE DID!

Been waiting 2 months for approval or denial for foot surgery. An injury that occurred at work and is going to be getting worse if it's not fixed.

Sentry is an evil company with back-stabbing management. Never ever purchase insurance from this company. This is an evil company that is not on your side or ethical. Employees are saps. Employees are potatoe farmer's childen. Anyone with an IQ greater than 100 is not welcome at Sentry.

I'm dealing with them right now and they are literally the worst insurance company ever. Their insured hit my car and took of my driver's side mirror while I was in the house asleep (it happened at 7 am on a Friday. March 3rd). I tried calling the adjuster that day- no answer. I had to work at noon, so I didn't get the chance to call them after the first time. I went to my insurance company on Monday and got all the specific information from them and then proceeded to call the adjuster again. She was extremely rude and condescending, saying things like "we've been waiting for you to get a hold of us" when I had literally called them thirty minutes after their office opened THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT and got no answer. I finally get an email on the 7th that the claim was received, but with no other information. Took in my car to get an estimate the next day, the 8th. Total came out to around 3500 dollars. The auto body shop faxed the estimated first thing the next morning (I had taken my car in around 3:30, so I didn't expect it to get sent off that day.). It wasn't until the 12th that they got back to me and got a check mailed out, which I received on the 19th. She put in a request for a rental, which I scheduled to be picked up on the 15th. I double checked that everything was okay, spoke with a lady named Sherry that said I should be good to get everything picked up and that my car was NOT drivable.

Just today, the 22nd, I get a call from the insurance company saying that they wont pay for the days that I've had the rental, as the car wasn't in the shop. I demand her supervisor. She refuses and I hang up out of frustration.

I call back and get the secretary, who puts me through to the supervisor's answering machine. He calls me back about an hour later, which I miss because I was out running errands. I call him back when I get home. I calmly explain that I've been being mistreated the entire time and he proceeds to yell at me, tell me that I was supposed to do a temporary fix on my car, and that it's my fault that I didn't know. I pull up the emails as I'm talking to them and read off the exact words that the adjuster gave me. Not once did she say I had to fix it, she just insisted over and over that it was drivable, which was refuted by the other lady that I talked to. He then called me a liar until I brought up the fact that I have never filed a claim before and that I didn't know what I was doing. He continued to insist that I was lying about her never having said I needed to repair my car. Then he gave fake condolences, but insisted that he couldn't do anything. He then told me that the adjuster was coming into his office and that he'd talk to her about it all. That was an hour ago and I've heard nothing from him. I wasn't even told how to proceed with the rental. I can't afford to pay for one myself and if we weren't trying to get out of our awful living situation, I'd have just paid my insurance company's deductable to not have to deal with this.

Please never use Sentry whom is connected with American Bankers Home Insurance! We filled out a claim for damages to our mobile home not a dime was paid. This company is rotten to the core! We now have to pay to get the home taken out and get demolished because of them! I have reported them to the BBB. They can sure take your money every month but when we needed them they let us down big time! Just a warning to anyone looking looking for mobile home insurance! Stay clear! Dorothy Boring

I can't imagine there won't be some sort of class action suit concerning Sentry's abrupt cancellation of their Payback Policy. It takes 5 years of paying a HIGHER premium policy to get into that program. Many people probably don't know the premium for that policy was higher.
Personally, I never had any claims for the many years I was with them, and I always received my Payback checks when due. But, as time went on & rates increased, the only way I benefited was because my payback checks were based on when I had two cars (I now have one). When my 'two-car paybacks' were completed, there was hardly any benefit left at all.
But, once again, the rate that you paid for the Payback Policy was much HIGHER than the rate for the same coverage with them for a REGULAR policy; they would tell you that themselves if you asked. You did NOT pay the same rate as someone who was not on the Payback Policy. Had the rates been the same, then this would not be an issue. But, for Sentry to take that higher rate, promise you a payback check if you had no claims, then tell you they're discontinuing that policy, but KEEPING the extra money you paid them - there is no justification for that. The very least they should do is to refund the cost to the policyholder of the difference between a regular policy & the Payback policy for up to 5 years of your past payments. At least that would be fair. It's not like they've filed for bankruptcy (have they?) - They're still in business.
What if you went to the grocery store, and bought an identical gallon of milk as the person behind you, but, paid double on the basis of receiving a rebate after 5 years of loyal purchasing from that store... Then, 5 years later they say, 'sorry, we've changed our minds, there will not be a rebate. But, we're keeping your money.'
It's absurd to think the Insurance Industry's watchdog group would allow this to happen unpunished.

I had a similar accident with one of Sentry's insured as detted53. The son of the person they insure was driving the vehicle and he ran a stop sign and I T-boned him. When we were both in the same ambulance going to the hospital he told one of the EMT's that this was his 3rd accident, he was 19yo. I am currently working through negotiations with my attorney and Sentry's attorney, James Hamilton. They originally tried saying that I was a certain percentage at fault, I don't remember the exact percent they used, then when they settled with my vehicle they settled at the highest book value. Now they are saying they won't settle at policy limits because I have not been continuing therapy for my back and neck pain, hard to continue treatment when you can't pay the people providing the treatment. Since reading this post I am going to find a new attorney and file suit against Sentry's insured. Thanks to everyone that has shared their experiences with Sentry and helped me decide there is no trying to settle with this poor company. I hope every one who has shared has their issues taken care of and I will try and keep this up to date with my case.

I have had Sentry Payback auto insurance for over 20 years and now I receive a letter that they are no longer going to do auto or Home owner insurance. What it means to me is they are skipping out on 3200 Dollars as part of the payback policy for the next 4 years.
When I called customer service all i got was sorry but I am SOL and my policy will be cancelled when the next renewal is due and I am out the payback money. Such nice business practices from a company that has gladly taken my premium payments and never paid a claim because of me

I am dealing with Sentry right now and that driver went through a stop sign when he hit my car, he did not have a driver's license on him, and it was not his car. I was claiming medical injury from the accident which I sent the Sentry claimant my medical information from the hospital several times and the claim agent claims she has never received them. I have emailed, faxed, and snail mailed this information and still, I get letters every 2 weeks since last February 2012, when I had my accident, saying I need to send them my medical expenses from the hospital. Where did that medical paperwork go that I sent 4 times? The last straw was this week when I receive a medical form to fill out requesting my full medical history from my whole life, not just from the accident alone. I took this to an attorney and he told me this is absolutely against HIPPA regulations as I had thought as well. Now Sentry wants to settle the bills from the hospital for $750 and wanted me to agree by phone, I refused and said I want that agreement in writing mailed to me. It is a pitiful amount concerning my medical expenses were higher but I will not sign any medical form giving them full access to my entire medical history since birth.

I hope you win your court case. I would like to know how things worked out for you.

Sentry Uninsurance is a fraud. I plan on taking my claim viral on you-tube, facebook and twitter in a couple of weeks. I have some video to shoot first. My vehicle was totaled by one of their insured. They are offering me 40% of what I can replace my vehicle with for a comparable one. They are accepting liability. That is not even in question. I feel that I should be exactly back where I was prior to the accident as I was at "no fault" and should be made whole. I don't care what they say, I should be made whole to pre-accident level.

Rob, if your car collides with another car, Sentry will give the other owner only 80% of the car's value because they will "figure" that he was 20% at fault, even though (hypothetically) it was 100% your fault. The vehicle I hit had gone through a red light! Still 20% my fault for "being there" I guess. Sentry Insurance sucks!

I even had an attorney tell me that Sentrys low-balling of my cars value and calling it 20% MY FAULT was par for the course! What? Are the attorneys in bed together? Let me know how your court case turns out - I may do the same thing - that is, if I can find an honest attorney!

Sentry Insurance is at the BOTTOM of customer satisfaction surveys for a reason! I have never dealt with a more crooked adjuster ever. They operate under the theory that you will tire out and let them run over you. I plan on taking my case to court after waiting over a YEAR to have my claim paid from an accident that was not my fault. God help anybody that has to work with these jerks. I suggest State Farm or Farmers Insurance. Anybody but these guys!

The person who hit me went through a red light and received a citation from the local police department. Yet, Sentry Insurance claims the accident was 20% MY FAULT! What? For being there? They will only pay me 80% of my car's value - the car was totalled! And then they LOW BALL the value besides! This company SUCKS!
I suppose the car dealer that owned the vehicle that hit mine shopped around and got the cheapest, crappiest insurance on the planet!
