I am writing this report about Gina Alford in the hopes that I can help someone avoid being scammed in the way Gina Alford scammed me.

Like many other people who have posted reports on Complaints Board about Gina Alford, we learned the hard way that she is a disreputable, dishonest and untrustworthy person who, like most scam artists, is a smooth talker and a convincing liar. She gains your trust and friendship and then steals your money. Like many of the people who have posted about her on this site, Gina Alford has threatened to sue us, post negative information about us on the Internet and ruin our reputation. Desite these threats, we are determined to seek justice and will take every step available to us to recover our money and bring Gina Alford to justice. I deeply regret not finding the information on this site about her BEFORE I dealt with her, but I'm hoping that my experience will help someone else avoid getting scammed by her. I also hope that I can be a part of bringing this woman to justice. If you've been defrauded and/or scammed by Gina and Rick Alford, please e-mail me at [protected]@yahoo.com. I would be happy to share evidence and information with anyone seeking to stop this disreputable dog breeder. Here's my story:

About a year ago (on or about March 2011) I was looking for a show quality male cream sable Pomeranian and while searching I saw Gina Alford's Website on the Internet. From the looks of her Website you would think that she was a reputable show breeder that breeds beautiful poms. However, PLEASE, don't be fooled by her Website.

I initially e-mailed her, and after some time she called me and told me that she had a litter of puppies due soon. In the next couple of days she called and told me they were born and there was a beautiful male puppy in the litter. I discussed this puppy with her and after a couple of weeks she called and told me he was a show quality cream sable with AKC registration etc., so I decided to buy this puppy for $2, 500 and sent her a deposit of $800.

After sending the deposit I asked for pictures of the puppy, but she always had some excuse why she couldn't send them to me. Finally, when the puppy was 8 weeks old, we demanded pictures of him. She sent me a few pictures of a puppy taken with her cell phone. Because of the poor quality you couldn't even see what he looked like, but I trusted her representations that this was a show quality cream sable puppy. She then asked for more money and, stupidly, I sent her another $1, 000. (Please everyone do NOT do this when buying any puppy. Reputable breeders won't ask for this. She needed the money so I even paid $20.00 to mail the check next day.

After sending Gina Alford the second payment I asked for more pictures, but Gina told me she worked by contract (not yet sent to me) and in her contract it states that she would not send out pictures until the puppy is 10 weeks old. She also told me her contract stated that he was guaranteed to be show quality at 1 year of age. She said the contract stated that if the dog was not show quality it would be replaced by a dog that was show quality.

So I waited until he was 10 weeks old and asked for pictures. Again she refused. We finally demanded pictures, and she then sent us a couple of pictures of a Pomeranian puppy. We looked at the photos and the puppy looked nice but the color seemed orange, not cream. By then we were getting suspicious, so we consulted with friends who are experts in show poms, and their opinion was that based on the photos Gina sent to us this puppy was definitely orange, not cream sable. But again, the photos were not the best quality, so we called Gina, told her our concerns and asked for more pictures that would clearly establish the puppy's color.

Gina was angry about our request for more pictures, but after stalling for a couple of weeks she finally sent us another picture. This puppy was definitely cream sable, but to us it looked much younger and different than the puppy in the initial pictures. Bottom line: We didn't think it was the same puppy as the one shown in the first photos. We again consulted with people who were experienced experts in Pom show dogs, and their opinion also was that the puppy in the second photo wasn't the same puppy as the one shown in the first photos. He didn't have the same face, ear set, tail set, etc.

At this time we also learned that this puppy had not yet been registered with AKC. In fact, we learned that not only was the puppy not registered with AKC, but we also learned that the puppy's MOTHER had not yet been registered with AKC. We were shocked by this fact, since Gina Alford had represented this puppy as AKC registered since the beginning of our discussions. So Gina was going to ship us a "show puppy" that wasn't AKC registered.

My husband and I discussed the situation and decided that since we had already paid $1, 800 on the dog our best option was to NOT let her ship the dog to us. Instead, we would pick up the dog ourselves. That way, if in fact it wasn't a show quality cream sable we could at least refuse final payment on the balance due and avoid shipping costs. We called Gina Alford, told her we were going to New Orleans on vacation and that we wanted to pick up the puppy in person instead of her shipping him to us. She immediately got very ANGRY and told us that NOBODY ever came to her home to pick up puppies. She didn't allow that. Then, she agreed to let us meet her somewhere to get the puppy, but she wanted us to send her the final payment before we picked up the puppy. Despite her protestations, we insisted that we would NOT agree to have her ship the puppy, insisted that we pick up the puppy in person and we told her we would not make the final payment until we saw the puppy.

She yelled at my husband and me for 10 minutes and then offered to refund our money. We immediately accepted that offer. She told us that before she would refund our money we MUST sign her contract, which we had yet to receive and had never seen. When we got the contract we discovered there was no show guarantee in it, as Gina had previously claimed in her e-mail to me. There was also no clause in the contract regarding photos, as she had previously claimed. After reviewing the sales contract, we refused to sign that document since it did not clearly establish our right to a refund. Gina and Rick Alford then sent to us a revised contract that established that they would refund our $1, 800 in monthly payments of not less than $200 a month. Under this contract, if payment was made we agreed not to take any legal or social actions against them.

After executing this repayment contract, Rick and Gina Alford sent us three payments totaling $600 over five months and then defaulted on the contract. During those five months, we sent numerous e-mails to them advising them of our willingness to resolve this matter in a friendly and amicable manner and telling them we did not want to harm them legally, socially or financially. We told them we would work with them to resolve this matter. During this time we learned by e-mail from Gina herself that she sold a puppy, but they clearly did not apply the proceeds of that sale toward their financial obligation to us. Now, they have defaulted on the repayment contract that they themselves drafted, and we can't get any response from them. They still owe us $1, 200 that they received for a puppy they did not provide. This is criminal fraud and we intend to file criminal complaints against them with the Mississippi Attorney General's Office, the FBI Internet Crime Unit and the Winston County (Mississippi) Sheriff's Office. We have documentation to support everything in this report and will gladly provide it to anyone who is interested in this case.

For anyone reading this report: PLEASE do NOT allow someone to use "friendship" and smooth talk to convince you to forget about smart business practices. If you're planning to do business with someone via the Internet, do your research BEFORE you send anyone money, no matter how "nice" or "friendly" they seem and no matter how professional the appearance of their Website. If you're planning on buying an AKC puppy, buy only from reputable breeders. Ask for and check references, do a Google search on their name and kennel and sign up for a breed forum and ask for people's opinions on the breeder. We wish we would have.

In response to the previous comment, made by someone who didn't have enough conviction to sign his/her name, allow us (Russ and Deborah Bergeron) to respond:
1. If you (whomever you are) will not buy from us, that's fine. We refuse to do business or associate with anyone who supports Rick and Gina Alford and their scams. We don't need your business or your endorsement.
2. Perhaps the dog that Gina Alford intended to sell us is now AKC registered, but at the time she was intending to sell this dog to us, she had not registered a litter in two years. Not only was the dog she intended to sell us not AKC registered, neither was the dog's dam. Anyone interested can check with the AKC. They will confirm. In fact, Gina admitted this to us in an e-mail. We will be happy to send that to anyone as proof. What reputable breeder would advertise AKC-registered puppies when neither the puppy nor the dam are AKC registered? Why would a breeder not register a dam before breeding? Why would a breeder not register a litter or a puppy after 10 weeks but advertise it for sale as AKC registered? If the dam is not AKC registered, how can one confirm (aside from DNA testing) that the puppy is from the dam?
3. Our request for photos was reasonable. The issue was not with the quality of the photos. Gina refused to send us photos until we finally threatened to cancel the sale if we didn't receive pictures. When she did finally send photos, they were clearly pictures of at least two different puppies. We have the pictures and can e-mail them as proof.
4. Non-refundable deposits are established in written or verbal contracts. The Alfords did not ever establish, verbally or in writing, that our payment was non-refundable. In fact, they never sent us a sales contract until AFTER we decided not to buy the puppy. They demanded that we sign that contract in order to get our money back. We refused. They then agreed in writing to return our payment, signed a repayment contract which they wrote, and then violated the contract by not making payments on time. Research the numerous complaints against the Alfords and you'll find the same pattern over and over again -- misrepresentation, fraud, failure to refund or return money.
5. Finally, we're fortunate to have numerous reputable breeders who know and trust us and who know we provide a caring, responsible and loving home for our dogs. As for the coward who wrote this anonymous comments above, you can pass this along to the Alfords: We owe the Alfords nothing, and that includes any apology for posting this report. Yes, the Alfords will get what they deserve -- not restitution, but retribution for their illegal and unethical behavior. We will continue to post reports at consumer protection sites like this one, and we will pursue every social and legal avenue available to inform and warn people about the unethical and illegal activities of Rick and Gina Alford. Everything we have said in our report and in this reponse is fact, and we will be happy to share those facts with anyone who is interested in the truth.

Dear Debbie:
I feel terribly for you. I, too, got the royal shaft from the Alfords. I ended up with a wonderful pet but the fact of the matter is it was hell getting there-financially, emotionally, confrontationally, medically...you name it. This chick, Gina, will lie on the truth, your name, your reputation and have not an ounce of remorse in the process. Truth is a four letter word to these folks and they season the flavor of the experience with a little bit of 'crazy' to boot.
You've given some very good advice above and I, too, hope people don't get too caught up in the emotion of purchasing an adorable new family member such to the extent that they fail to do their homework. In this day and age, knowledge is a mere fingertip or key stroke away. But, when you error on the side of giving folks the benefit of the doubt, it would never occur to trusting animal lovers that fellow animal folks could possibly be sooo fraudulent. Homework seems unnecessary and almost guilt ridden. How could you even fathom the venum the Alfords spew?
Take faith that you have done what you can and solice in the fact that you were not the first in line of the many who got shammed. So did we. But, there are indeed amazing breeders in the pomeranian world who would never, ever think of doing something as malicious and corrupt as Gina Alford does, day in and day out.
Karma's a ### though...and, I don't mean that in the female dog sense of the word. I'm just sayin' :) What goes around does eventually come around.

This is an update on our case with Rick and Nancy “Gina” Alford of Lil Darlin Pomeranians.

We submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau of Mississippi regarding Rick and Gina Alford of Lil Darlin Pomeranians. In Rick and Gina Alford’s response to our complaint, Gina inadvertently admitted to sending us pictures of two different puppies and claiming they were the same puppy! She stated in writing to the Better Business Bureau that the photos she sent to us were of a puppy she had years ago and never even bred. Gina claimed that we had somehow gotten the photos and submitted them to the Better Business Bureau. Of course, the truth is that she sent those exact pictures to us stating that the pictures were of the puppy we were buying. We can prove that because we have Gina’s e-mail to us with those exact pictures of that puppy attached to it.

Gina also proceeded to tell the Better Business Bureau that we had somehow altered the contracts she sent us, yet we proved again to the Better Business Bureau that they were NOT altered as they were attached to Gina’s own e-mail to me, just like the pictures she lied about. Gina Alford then stated to the BBB that the puppy we were purchasing was indeed registered at the time we were buying him. Yet again, we had Gina Alford’s e-mail to us acknowledging that the puppy was not registered and stating that she would register him before we were to pick him up. Not only was the puppy not registered, neither was his mother! All this time Gina Alford had been telling me that the show quality puppy I was buying was AKC registered. It was clearly her intent to ship him to us with no papers!

A couple months ago I went on a few dog forums and asked anyone who had ever had any business dealing with Gina Alford to please contact me. WOW, the response was overwhelming. I received dozens and dozens of e-mail telling me that Gina Alford has been doing this for years! I received dozens and dozens of e-mail from all over the United States, each one telling me horror stories of their dealings with the Alfords.

To whoever reads this, please DO NOT even think about buying a puppy from Lil Darlin Pomeranians. RUN don’t walk, as fast as you can away from them. If anyone still has any doubts about Gina Alford, please just go on any Pom forums and ask. You will be horrified by what you learn. Please, before sending any money to these people, do your homework. I have all the correspondence from Gina and Rick Alford and can verify everything I have stated. Please do NOT be another victim!

Dear Ms/Mrs.Debby Bergeron, Let me tell you a thing or two.
You need your BUTT kicked up between your eyes for posting such a terrible report or what you think about this breeder.I am a SHOW POMERANIAN BREEDER .And yes, I have shown my pomeranians.
After reading your post, you make me sick! You have NO MORALS.
I have Lil Darlin Poms and I have been to the Alford's home, MANY TIMES.
I bought my Show Poms in 2005.
I love my poms and as a breeder and especially knowing the Alford's as I do,
You have made me dislike you very much.!You must be a very UNHAPPY PERSON.
*I saw one thing as soon as I read your post.
You have NO CLUE what it takes to be a reputable breeder. You have no ETHICS, MORALS, AND ANY REGARD for this breed.
You made that very clear in your post.
You do not go around slamming breeders that have been in this breed MUCH longer than you.
We all must take up for each other, It's people like YOU that give the Pomeranian Breed a BAD NAME. How dare you talk about the Alford's as you have. Why did you really decide you did not want your puppy?
As you have done with Showin's, YES< I checked up on you, I know your home is like a REVOLVING DOOR as I was told.
If you don't have the 'PERFECT DOG'you kick them right out the door and start back looking again, OH< you put up a good front, or you think you do but if you look and read and get to hear what I have heard about you Debby/Deborah Bergeron you don't have one in a million chance of making it in the show world.
SEE, This is how is works.
You can pay all the money you want to look like a big spender, BUT in the long run, you are going to run out of breeders that are going to want there pomeranians with you.
TALK IS CHEAP!AND MS/MRS. DEBBY BERGERON SO ARE YOU!
YES MS DEBBY I got the dope on you today.
And I will say your husband also for allowing you to conduct yourself this way, WELL, I agree with the post above, YOU do not deserve a pomeranian,
PLEASE to all who read my post, DO NOT SELL DEBBY/DEBORAH BERGERON OR HER HUSBAND ANY OF YOUR PRECIOUS POMERANIANS. These are the people we need to block out from the Pomeranian world. These people do not need dogs.
I would guess MS DEBBY you don't have children, grandchildren.
And we can thank the Lord for that.
What would you do with a child, just change your mine if something happened to your child, Boot them out as you have done with the pomeranians that have not met your expectation's. Now I know the Alford's. They must have seen or thought they was good in you both, OR they would have not given you the time of day.
They actually care about there Pomeranian Family.Something I do not think you can even understand. All you want Debby/Russ Bergeron is what I call "INSTANT GRADIFCATION', Then on to the next pup.
You must have a pomeranian"BOOT CAMP" Have I hit a NERVE!
I told you I checked you out.
I just wish Mrs. Alford had .I have heard you really can put a 'SNOW JOB ON PEOPLE.
WHEN ITS IN YOUR BEST INTEREST. 'OMG'I HOPE YOU HAPPEN TO FALL ONE DAY INTO MY POMERANIANS SINCE I PRODUCE THE 'WOLF SABLE YOU WANT SO BADLY.
YOU'LL NEVER SEE IT COMING.
I WILL AS I SAID GIVE YOU A PERSONALITY ADJUSTMENT AND YOU WANT EVER KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU.
I HAVE SOME OF THE NICEST, MOST WELL BRED WOLF'S AND YOU ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE WITH THE STUFF YOU HAVE AND REALLY DEBBY, buying this new male.
Do you not have any knowledge of a pedigree. After all the BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS we go through to work our bloodlines to match, THEN SMARTY PANTS like yourself comes along and in one generation completely destroy it with a pomeranian with all kinds of faults, and YESI know all about the problems in your lines.
and you feel like you should be showing these lines and then breeding them.
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!There are Innocent people out there searching for a quality pom, and let them get one of yours WOW, A SHOW DOG, Those poor people down the road. You will be hurting not only the poms, BUT families, with children that Will grow to love that baby they get from you,
JUST to most likely to be destroyed when those, WELL< we'll just call them 'PROBLEMS IN YOUR LINES-come out and that sweet pup died or has to suffer, and not even began to think about the family that has fallen in love have there hearts broken. How can you sleep at night knowing you are showing/and one day will be placing pups with lovely people/families, AND ALL THE WHILE, YOU'LL KNOW THOSE 'PROBLEMS' WILL HIT THEM LIKE A STONE WHEN THERE PUP BECOMES SICK OR DIES.
SHAME SHAME ON YOU,
AGAIN, TO ALL OF THE BREEDERS THAT READ THIS, PLEASE I BEG YOU, DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE HAVE YOUR POM BABIES.
Call the Alford's, there website has there phone number right on the front page.
Learn from what has happen to Richard and Gina Alford.I will be studing to one of there main males soon. I am so BLESSED to know them.
And anyone that reads my post. If you are sincere about breeding or just a baby.
The Alford's will help you.
I know personally, they gave a show pup to a young teen girl that had been 'RAPED' a pup of her choIse, I have seen that baby. BUT, what I am trying to say, It likes
a certain type compassionate person to do such.
It made a world of difference in this young teen and helped her regain a security having a baby to sleep with and a way to help her cope with the horrible act that happened to her.

Is that what this DEBBY/DEBORAH BERGERON IS IMPLYING OF THESE NICE QUIET SOUTHERN FAMILY AS THE ALFORD'S
Now please breeders hear what I am saying.
Do not sell to these people.
They do not deserve our breed. They think they can pay there way to the top.
I want hold my breath of that one!
Now Ms/Mrs.Bergeron, A bit of advise.Change your ways before our 'LORD" takes away from you the poms you have.
And he will be the saving grace if you make it or not. He always has a plan for each of us! And he put these little dogs called pomeranians on this earth for us to cherish, love and to take care of them as we should.
NOT to turn the cheek if they might have a fault like 'BRUNO'.Yes Dear I know about him.
too long of legs, too large of ears and he was still under 1 year old.
Did you even give him a fair chance.
I will, answer that NO.And how many others, what about the one testicle male 'BOODA' OH< i GOT AN EAR FULL ABOUT THAT ONE!
LET ME ASK A QUESTION, WHY DID YOU EVEN BUY HIM, and IN A WEEK CHANGE YOUR MINE,
SEE BREEDERS WHAT I MEAN, please READ MY POST AND THEN RE-READ IT AND I THINK YOU WILL COME TO THE SAME CONCLUTION AS I. TURN AND RUN WHEN YOU HERE THE NAME DEBBY BERGERON.
NOW THAT I HAVE MENTIONED THE COLOR THEY ARE AFTER, ALL OF YOU BREEDERS WILL KNOW WHOM OUT THERE TO CALL IF YOU NEED TO CHECK THEM OUT YOURSELVES.

THIS IS ALL I HAVE TO SAY, IS YOU BERGERON'S MAKE ME SICK TO MY STOMACH.
I just will hope and pray any other breeders that come your way will not get taken to the cleaners like the Alford's.
I GUESS THERE WAS A REASON THERE WAS A WAR
BETWEEN THE NORTH AND SOUTH. We here in the South actually have compassion for our fellow man!
GOD BLESS TO ALL THAT TAKE THE TIME TO READ MY POST!
OMGMERCYME!

It is tragic that Debby/ Deborah Bergeron has done this. She has shown Pomeranians and she is a member of this exclusive club that will not work with just anyone. She was though of as reputable person herself until she did this. This whole mess reflects Debby's personality and lack of ethics. I will not buy from her, nor will anyone I know since this has occurred. The Pom world grape vine is very small, and word travels so very quickly.

The dogs that she has accused Gina of not being AKC registered - are indeed AKC registered. Debby understands so little of how AKC works that in her own ignorance she assumed things that are not true. I have held *IN MY ARMS* the puppy that Debby is lying about. Not once, but *TWICE* as I am seriously considering that baby boy's Sire and have friends studying those bloodlines. Gina and Rick had no problem with me coming to their home once the puppies had enough vaccines/immunity for there to not be parvo or other germ issues. This is the responsibly of any reputable breeder; that you do not allow harm to come to the puppies. It is apparent that Debby is not concerned for the safety of her puppies, or anyone else's puppies either.

Cell phones will *NEVER* transmit a true color image. I have seen the puppy in person twice and I have seen all the photos of him as well. It is sad that she is in the show ring with Champion dogs, but know so little that she can't tell when lighting affects a photograph. Debby received many photos of this baby boy. All she had to do was come pick him up, with the rest of his purchase price and in her arms she would have had a beautiful pom. Anyone who has met Gina, or talked to her for any length of time know she has a really difficult eye disease. It would seem that Debby expects professional show ring photos from devices that are not able to do so, and from people with vision issues.

I wonder if most of the people who read this will understand what a NON Refundable deposit is? I shall clarify it for those who don't. A non-refundable deposit is money you put down to have something held. Like lay away. When you don't get that something, in this case back out and decide you don't want it, you loose that non refundable deposit. Debby changed her mind and decided to not get the puppy. Gina was being so incredibly gracious that she was even willing to let them have a non refundable deposit back just to be nice. Word to all breeders - stay firm and do not ever give back a non refundable deposit! The actions that Debby is portraying here are the kind of actions you will get from being lenient with dishonest people.

That Gina and Rick were even ever threatened with legal and social actions shows that these people were not a good home for this puppy, and I hope that no one else lets Debby/Deborah/Debby65 Bugeron OR Brown, or Russ/Russell have a dog again. I hope this case is resolved legally and that the full apologies owed by the Burgerons along with other amends are given to the Alford family as proper restitution for how they have been treated. These kind folks never defaulted on a contract, and it is WRONG to see them maligned and slandered needlessly.
