Lia Sophia Went "out of business" and cannot honour lifetime "warranties"

In the year before Lia Sophia notified all its customers that it would be closing its doors after many years in business, I bought a significant amount of jewelry. I had three parties and attended quite a few as well. When I heard that Lia Sophia would be going out of business, I was disappointed because one of the main reasons I had purchased so much product was to take advantage of the lifetime warranty. If anything should break or if I simply wanted something else, Lia Sophia promised that they would refund or exchange my jewelry. So a few months after that, I was cleaning out my filing cabinet and came across all my blue receipts from Lia Sophia (that I was instructed to keep, in the event that I ever needed to return or exchange), and knowing the company was no longer in business I threw them all away.
Recently I have received an email from Lia Sophia inviting me to check out their latest collections in their new catalogue.
I wrote to the company to enquire about:
1) Jewelry I had sent by mail to receive an exchange or refund, and never heard back about;
2) How it was that Lia Sophia closed its doors just months prior, but now has reopened and what if anything could be done about my previous purchases. Would the lifetime warranty be honoured?
The customer service was less than satisfactory, and of course I was told that I needed the original receipts in order to return or exchange product. When I explained that I had destroyed my receipts, the agent suggested that I contact the hostess or representative that I originally dealt with. I did that, and those women had also destroyed their receipts due to the information given about the business closing down.
I thought this was a heartless thing to do to loyal customers like myself who had spent so much time and energy promoting the business and buying the jewelry. I don't know if it is reasonable to ask that my warranty be honoured even without my receipts, but either way I am just expressing my disappointment in the way that Lia Sophia tricked me (and everyone else) with a false promise.

Lia Sophia BROKEN BRACELETS & TARNISHEDRINGS

I have hosted many lia sophia party's and attended many also. The first was 3 years ago. I always raved about the jewelry! But time tells the truth about quality I guess, because I have 3 bracelets, menagerie, moon dance, and another silver strechy one, the daiquiri ring stone fell out, so I have no stone, just the setting of the ring, and the silver oblong ring w/a cat's eye in the middle has turned green. So to all that have not had there jewelry very long, I hope you kept all receipts, even if it's been years, because lia sophia will not do anthing to replace broken items. I will not buy anymore of this jewelry and i'm sorry I have spent so much money on it. I'm just glad I didn't become an advisor like I was thinking at least I don't have all of that money and time wasted. I am very unhappy with my experience with this jewelry and hope that I can keep someone else from throwing their money away.

No more lia sophia for me.

I too feel as though I was lied to after I went to work at a company who happened to be an "Advisor" aka Sales Rep and happily showed me the Lia Sophia Catalog for which the next year I spent well over $1700.00 in all types of jewelry. I loved it at first and promoted it to anyone who commented on my jewelry!, they got the whole Guarenteed for Life speech from me and now I feel terrible about misleading them all! Especially telling people about how easy the Co. was to deal with, etc...but it was the so-called "Lifetime Guarentee" that really helped to boost sales, I truly believed it! Of course what I was most happy about was the Sales rep reminding me continually of the (Lifetime Guarentee) on all purchases, so I bought and promoted the jewelry with great zest for the entire year, I worked with the Sales Rep. until unfortunately for alot of folks our workplace went out of business, very quickly...So, here I am now, with no reciepts, (of course the Rep is long gone somewhere) and I'm stuck with 3 broken bracelets! for which I paid a pretty penny for. I am now the very unhappy owner of 3 bracelets that are all broken and the odd thing is they seem to be the same ones DANNA CLARKE of Evansville, IN complained about! By description they appear to be the EXACT same ones that broke on me, One is the Moon dance, a silver plated stretchy one and a third in which stones fell out I feel like it's useless, but all 3 pieces were very " expensive costume" jewelry that I am stuck with. The place I worked and purchased all my Lia Sophia went out of business as well, so I can't even find the Sales Rep who I purchased all this jewelry from! (She's probably hiding, Lol!) She did a ALOT of business for Lia Sophia! Not funny, really! Well, Melinda Pitman, if your still affiliated in any way with Lia Sophia and even though I don't have reciepts, nor can I find my Rep, I would be more than happy to get any kind of replacements I can, I'll send you the broken ones asproof first, they are all stamped Lia Sophia as anyone who had purchased their jewelry in the past knows. All I do know is, I wish I knew then what I do now, I would have NEVER placed that 1st order! Like Danna, NO MORE LIA SOPHIA FOR ME or ANYONE ELSE I KNOW!

I'm so sorry that you are not happy with your purchases. Most of us advisors strive to make sure that you are 100% thrilled with your experience. Yes sometimes things break or the plating wears off...but that's the beauty of the lia sophia life time replacement guarantee. Lia sophia is one of the few companies that WILL allow you to exchange your broken items.

I take it that you did not keep your receipts? If you did not keep the receipt you can check with the advisor that sold it to you to see if she has the information in her records that you need to exchange the pieces.

I would be more than happy to do whatever I can to make this situation right for you. In a perfect world would you want different items in exchange for these 5 or would you want the same 5 items?

As for the comment by stealth pilot - Actually costume jewelry will say gold or silver tone and is coated in like a craft paint that will flake off. Lia sophia is plated in actual 14-24 K gold or rhodium.

Lia Sophia Customer Service

DO NOT BUY LIA SOPHIA jewelry! Their jewelry is way over-priced and really not that good! The Customer Service is attrocious! I spent over $400.00 at a party. When I tried to return a couple of the items, I was required to provide continuous paperwork and THEN charged a $19.74 fee for "PROCESSING CHARGES!" UNBELIEVABLE! This whole "party" thing is no more than an EXPENSIVE SCAM. BEWARE.
