I am an actual paying customer of Prime Book Publisher, and after nearly a year dealing with this company, I strongly recommend that authors thoroughly investigate who they are dealing with before sending them money. My experience began with a written publishing agreement that states I retain complete rights and control over my work and includes a “100% money-back guarantee” if I am not satisfied with the results or experience. What followed was nearly a year of delays, changing explanations, unresolved problems and repeated attempts to sell me and pressure me into paying large sums of money for additional services while I was still waiting for satisfactory completion of services I had already purchased. One of my biggest concerns involves the illustrations. I never agreed to AI-generated illustrations. I went back through my documentation specifically looking for authorization or disclosure permitting generative AI to substitute for the illustration services I believed I was purchasing. I could not find it. Yet Prime Book Publisher later defended its work by claiming books had been completed “including illustrations.” If AI-generated artwork was going to fulfill a paid illustration service, I believe that should have been clearly disclosed and agreed to before I paid. I was promised watercolor style detailed illustrations. I also experienced ongoing problems involving the quality and presentation of my books and author identity on Amazon. I was told problems would be corrected, but issues continued while I incurred additional meeting-related charges of approximately $25 at a time. Meanwhile, the upselling continued. Most recently I was presented with approximately $4,500 in additional website and marketing services while significant problems with services I had already purchased remained unresolved.
I then began investigating the business and my payments more closely.
I believed I was paying Prime Book Publisher, yet payment records associated with my project involved multiple other names, including MetaSphere Technologies, Artistic Technologies and Meta Tech. I believe prospective customers deserve to know before paying exactly what legal entity they are contracting with and what merchant name will actually receive or process their money.
My attempts to verify the business itself raised additional questions. I encountered similarly named publishing businesses, interconnected-looking websites, social-media accounts and marketing material. Some of the online material appeared also to be AI-generated or repeatedly cross-posted, and I encountered errors in promotional/review material, including another company name appearing in content associated with Prime Book Publisher's web presence.
I also attempted to independently verify the physical locations associated with Prime Book Publisher and could not verify a clearly identifiable publishing operation at the addresses I checked in San Fransico, CA.
My research further uncovered apparent connections to Pakistan. I am not claiming that this conclusively establishes where the company legally or physically operates. My concern is that after nearly a year as a paying customer, I should not have had this much difficulty determining exactly what entity I contracted with, where the operation is actually conducted, who performs the work, and why my payments involved multiple business names.
I also urge authors to carefully scrutinize any representations involving marketing or becoming a “bestseller.” Ask exactly what “bestseller” means: on what platform, in what category, measured how, for how long, and what specific result is actually guaranteed in writing.
The refund situation was ultimately the breaking point.
After requesting my money back, I received a written message from a Prime Book Publisher representative stating: “Tomorrow morning, billing will process your funds.”
The refund was not received as represented.
The company's position subsequently changed. Instead of receiving the refund I had been told would be processed, I was later informed that no refund would be issued. I was also threatened with potential defamation action concerning reviews I had posted about my experience.
So after nearly a year, my experience includes: prolonged delays; unresolved or disputed services; persistent additional sales pressure; an approximately $4,500 additional proposal while existing problems remained; illustrations I cannot find documentation showing I authorized as AI-generated; continuing Amazon-related problems; additional meeting-related charges; multiple merchant/business names associated with my payments; difficulty independently verifying the company's operating location; questions about who actually performs the work; and finally a written statement that my refund would be processed followed by the refund not being received as represented and the company's position changing.
I have retained contracts, invoices, emails and payment records supporting my account of these events. Also, I am in the process of reporting this everywhere I can and with appropriate authorities.
My advice to any author considering Prime Book Publisher is simple: VERIFY EVERYTHING BEFORE PAYING.
Verify the exact legal entity. Verify its registration and actual operating location. Ask who will perform your work and where they are located. Ask whether any services are outsourced. Ask exactly what merchant name will appear on your payment. Get written disclosure concerning any use of generative AI. Get every deliverable, deadline, correction obligation, marketing representation and refund provision in writing.
Based on my personal experience over nearly a year, I would not recommend Prime Book Publisher. I deeply regret not investigating these questions before I sent the first dollar.
