Hi my name is amandeep I post my book on kijiji for sale and then I got message from monicamoraga 015 @hotmail.com that she wants to buy the books, I agree to give her and I send message twice, you can transfer money by e transfer to me, but she said she is going to do by paypal and I told her I don't have a account so I don't want her money and I don't want to give my books, I have proof for that, instead of stopping the chat she sendemail to me that she send money $800 her but book was only $ 170, I think she is doing scam with me as she said go to money gram send me$ 500, I email to her I am mot going to touch any email that's belongs to her as I got scared,
Now I got email that she said she reported to pay pal for scam and I got email from the fbi that paypal put complaint about me please chcek my email ;[protected]@yahoo.com. Thanks

Same thing here, thought I was making a good sell but they ended being liars.
Told me they sent the money but didn't, searched up the name and here I am.

I have this a few times a year from different people .I'm in west Canada and they are from Colorado at the base ...text first from someone asking for email to get ahold of their mom. I pick this up right away and have fun with these donkeys till the end. Cash only I tell them consistently but then they need PayPal. DONT EVER DO PAYPAL THEY CAN DISPUTE IT LATER AND GET REFUND THEN YOU OWE PAYPAL TWICE AS THEY WILL COME AFTER YOU FOR THE REFUND
.CASH OR EMT IN CANADA ONLY dont use cash app ir any orher apps for transfering money ...anything else they can dispute and get refund.
I sell on my local kijijii and get these types all the time. Play along and see what they offer for payments and them you can see what they do to try to con you. You can use this to spot fraud and scammers in the future. O and I kept telling Monica cash only. Then told her to go scam so.eone else with the PayPal crap. Haven't heard back from her since. roflmao...be safe and think about what they say ...if on kijiji then cash only or emt if in Canada. Can't dispute emt or cash locally
Pay attention to what they ask and you can tell right away then block report and spam

I just recieved a WhatsApp message asking if my textbook on Kijiji was still available and asking for my email address to continue the communication. From there I got an emailidentical to the example that I seen in the comments below.

I just ran into the exact same issue! They texted me with weird formatting (each paragraph was numbered ex. 1/3, 2/3, 3/3) and I thought that was odd. Then they said that they get charged for texting and that I should email their mom at monicamoraga890@gmail.com. I live in Toronto, ON (Canada) and I asked a few times where they are located and they kept saying Ontario, which again, striked me as odd. They stopped texting me back, so I assume they caught onto the fact that I was well aware it was a scam.
i just got same message for a stroller i have on kijiji. it was sent as a text to give direct email "cos" i get charged when i text or email my mom. moniccamoraga@gmail.com so i dont have paypal acct i replied to see if they could e transfer becasue little info for auto deposit is ok for me paypal charges fees. so waiting i decided to check the email address and it brought me here. i am sad because i got hopes up there being in money dispair between myself and toddler daughter so i really cud have used this sale so so much. i just wanted something to go my way and then this scam... how does this one pick its victims out do i put a "hey you over here i want to be scammed out of money i dont have lol pick me pick me pick me or is it randomly sent to unknowns to see who bites on it?
She is attempting to scam me too, similar to other people in this comment section I got a text message saying to email her mother and when I did, the "mother" told me she is stationed in Colorado and blah blah blah. I've blocked and reported her as spam. Screenshot of the message she sent me below.
She just tried to buy a book off me too, I blocked her and reported her as spam after having a conversation with her for about a day and a half, I'm glad I found this page
Same here. I posted some chairs on Kijiji. Got a text message from [protected] asking if they were still available. I said Yes, to which they replied word for word: Hi, pls get back to my mom at abramfongheq20@gmail.com with your agreed price
I looked up the area code is in Mississippi (I am in Sudbury Ontario Canada)… then I looked up the email address and found these comments..

Yeah she Just tried to buy a 20th century copper plated pig serving vessel from me asking me to make a PayPal literally word for word same stuff in email. She's now changed it to Monicamoraga025@gmail.com
just got the same Email address sent to me by text message. Thanks to all for the heads up. transactions done in CASH only are the safest

I received exactly the same emails.
This is word for word the email I received today. I think they know I'm on to them as when I texted and emailed them back to have some fun with them, they went silent.
I do the same as I know they are scammers...don't use PayPal or accept a certified cheque etc. Cash or emt in Canada that's it
I just received a text for an item I have listed on kijiji asking me to email their 'mother' at the same email address. The poor grammar in the email made me very suspicious as did the request for information that I had already sent them as well as a request to delete the ad as soon as possible. Once I searched the email, your warning came up. Thank you for the heads up. Stay safe everyone.

Yes got the same today on Kijiji from the Gmail address. Same thing about being a "chef in the state". They said they would PayPal transfer me and asked me to delete the posting right away. It seemed suspicious so I googled the name and it directed me here. Blocked their number and email address right away.
They tried to pull this on me today. Using the email address Moniccamoragaa@gmail.com and the phone number [protected]. "Monica" and her daughter "Cindy". Good luck out there folks.

Thanks for this thread guys. Scammer in Canada using a 204 area code. I tried to be as creepy as possible incase they decided to contact the police to report me .
This is exactly the same scenario I encountered today. The email raised several red flags and my search led me here. Be careful out there. I'm glad that work is a bit slow right now so I can string them along for a while and have a little fun.

Just posted a ad on Kijiji and within 10 min recia text from a 805 # asking me to email their mom with details of my item and price. Found it a bit strange but emailed moniccamoragaa@gmail.com. got this response:

Luckily I gave her my Business email, through Google and Squarespace so its protected from Phishing. She has been reported.

You'd think that if you were going to scam someone you'd go through the effort of using correct grammar so as to not arouse suspicion. This has red flags all over.
I am selling my textbook and I'm also in the same exact situation, but stupid enough I re-transferred 500USD. And then after the "verification" of my money transfer, 9 hours later I received another email that mentioned this:
Thank you for using PayPal as your means of payment method, this is a notification email involving the transaction between you and Monica Moraga, The money sent by your buyer has been deducted from the buyer's account designated PayPal account and in the process of we crediting your account after we received the BMO receipt from you, we noticed by the pickup agent that you will have to pay for the clearance shipping fee/taxes fee for the Government, We contacted your buyer about this and she agreed to pay the funds so we have deducted immediately the fees in your buyer's PayPal account which makes it a total sum of $2, 300.00 CAD which was deducted from the buyers PayPal account.
Now our client's account Monica Moraga has been debited with the total amount of $2, 300.00 CAD and will be credited into your own account as soon as you have send the $900.00 CAD for the agent pickup clearance charges and taxes Government fee. We have been trying to credit your account with the funds immediately we received the BMO receipt from you but we notice this at the peck of it, So you will have to go to any BMO and send the $900.00 CAD to the pick up agent you sent the first fee to and send us the BMO receipt again and we will verify it now and credit your account immediately.

Much the same thing happened to us. We had an add o Kigigi with our email as contact. Same person responded & used the same scenario - send $500. to a contact in P.E.I. and PayPal would release the full amount she had deposited to our account. We immediately backed off, telling her
that we didn't have $500. We reported her to PayPal, RCMP, & Kigigi. They all have set up files on both her & her accomplice. She has supposedly sent a complaint to PayPal - sure she did ..
She's still trying though. Be careful out there.
The individual must be active, as i just received the same inquiry and email. Checking online, seeing these comments, reporting the email to Kijiji to block this email going forward.

I sent a total of $750 USD but $500 USD will be sent to the Pick Up Agent via Money Gram Transfer and The extra $100 is to cover the Money Transfer and PayPal charges. PayPal will not release your pending Money until you have completed the Money Gram Transfer and forwarded to them the receipt for their attention so as for the mover to pick up the item. Below is the mover info where the money is to be sent to.

Then I figure that is absolutely wrong and ask to give me proof of ID, deleted Paypal account juts in case and changed all passwords

“You seems never to understand, PayPal will not allow the money to reflect yet at your bank account which is linkup with your PayPal account until you have sent the $500 to the mover from your personal pocket since they have deducted the funds from my PayPal account, there is no way i could retrieve and to protect buyers and sellers, they need secure our transaction, so go ahead and send the money from your pocket and provide the receipt of the money gram Transfer to PayPal so as to enable them put off the hold of your money awaiting to be funded into your PayPal account for easy cash out on your bank account, I have also forwarded to PayPal your previous message for their attention. Thank you for your understanding.

I just got an email and text from the same person and something sounded off. So I googled the email address, found and read this and immediately reported and blocked the person.
