Names of persons involved in scam: Jordan Marcus, Jonathan Matthews

They will call, saying they got you info from a reseller who had marked your file "Do Not Contact Client." This is used to explain why everything has to be completed within 8 hours or a sale will fall through.

Claims to be a mortgage lender who occasionally handles timeshare sales to corporations. Will tell you that the money you sent the reseller was used to pay for everything (title fee, maintenance fee, etc) *except* the attorney to handle the closing paperwork. They have a corporate buyer who is purchasing multiple units/weeks in your resort and is paying a flat fee (generally higher than what you were asking from the reseller) for each unit.

They will provide you with any proof you request. Name of corporation (usually real but generic enough so that there will be multiple listings on a google search). Their name and phone. A letter or email stating that your timeshare is sold and that you can sue them if they lie. Seriously - whatever you want/need to feel secure, they will provide.

Unfortunately, there are no listings for East Coast Financing, East Coast Financial Corporation, or any variation on any of the complaint/scam boards.

So yeah, after checking, asking a million questions, talking off and on for 3-4 hours, I fell for it and sent them money.

No call that evening. No call the next day. No response to email. The voicemail box on the phone is full. Definite scam.

Remember:

East Coast Financing or some variation (however *not* East Coast Financial out of RI. I have spoken to that owner and they are a legitimate business)
Jordan Marcus
Jonathan Matthews
Operating in or near Palm Springs, FL
Has *lots* of good answers to any questions you may have. Probably has been in the con game a long time, so most likely has some form of criminal record.
Has a medium-strong New York/Brooklyn accent (I can say for sure it was NYC, but not which borough)
Asks for just enough money to make it worth his while, but not so much that you'll be suspicious.
Is definitely working with one other person who (before you send them money), will answer the phone, put you on hold, act like a receptionist.

If you need/want additional details, or have more information about this person, please email me at the address below.

Ms. Spier,

I recommend some therapy for you, or maybe a bottle of wine and an
evening of some good sex. if you think in this day and age with all of
the different methods of illegally "scamming" money out of people, I
would hope that you would give us more credit than a measly 600
dollars! seriously, I will gladly refund your money at any time you
wish, In the future, you may want to check some of the available
resource websites online, we maintain a "b" rating with the BBB as
well as an exceptional rating with the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce,
also there is Dunn & Brad Street, and if you visit Google and search
fraudulent companies you will find a vast amount of site dedicated to
consumer protection, as for Mr. Matthews, He is registered in Las
Vegas, also we utilize an extensive amount of attorneys to to attend
our closings, And when filing with the municipality in which the resort
is located, we contract a local attorney to facilitate the transfer,
their primary purpose is the Fidelity Bond they are required to
maintain, and "if required" they are our source of Surety bonds,
Please take this as constructive criticism and take no offense. Please
contact myself (Scott Powers ) @ [protected] And we can get your
refund process started a.s.a.p.

After much email back and forth, I was told, in writing, that I would be contacted Monday morning (8/2/10) so that my refund could be done. It is now 3:20pm on 8/2/10, and I have yet to hear from anyone in the company.
