Rancor vegetarian cooking retreat - dangerous and falsely advertised.
These retreats use lethal cooking equipment:

The venue is not Marcoola Beach Resort (as advertised) but Atlantis which is next door to Marcoola beach resort. Rancor said he's been holding the retreats at Atlantis for 8 years - why was it advertised as being at Marcoola Beach Resort when it is not held there and never had been!

Rancor is knowingly putting the public at risk by using/relying on attendees of his 'retreats' to cook on very dangerous (recalled) butane gas cookers. This is serious! All across Australia these cookers have been exploding and hurting people.

I arrived at Marcoola Beach Resort on Friday 8th April 2016 - I noted the 'yoga room' and thought we may be using this room over the weekend. The receptionist at Marcoola beach resort told me that the 'cooking thing' was not held at Marcoola beach resort but at Atlantis next door.

I went to Atlantis next door and the receptionist gave me Rancors phone number. I phoned Rancor, he met me and showed me to the apartment. He said he'd been coming to this place for 8 years - this hotel. (I wondered why the false advertising of it being held at Marcoola beach resort? I guess people may not come to this older hotel?). The apartment was set up with a large dinning table - it was obvious that the whole weekend would be sleeping, cooking, eating, living in this small apartment with 5 or 6 other people. Not what was/is advertised - at all!

The most alarming thing was the stack of butane camp cookers (that have been recalled by the ACCC after some have blown up in peoples faces) in this very tiny kitchen. I knew then I would be scared the whole weekend that someone would be hurt by these very dangerous cookers.

I left and phoned Rancon as I was leaving. He confirmed that the attendees of the cooking retreat would be cooking on the butane camp stoves. I explained my concern about the use of the stoves and that they had been recalled by the ACCC and that I would not feel safe with these cookers being used. He said he'd used them for 8 years and no problem. I again explained my concern about the safety for all attendees and that I want a refund. He offered that I cook on the stove in the tiny kitchen. I again explained my concern for all attendees - that these cookers should not be used!

The images advertising this cooking retreat show people cooking in a real kitchen with full stoves. This is very misleading, incorrect and false. I want a full refund. And I do sincerely hope no-one gets hurt at these very dodgy run 'cooking retreats'!

I attended one of these events with my son and it was thoroughly enjoyable and educational. I highly recommend it. I've also never had any issue using butane cookers.
