1. The co-host format does not appeal to an audience as much as a single host format. When co-hosts to relate with each other, they are not relating and connecting with the audience. Talk between hosts is obnoxious, because it takes time away from the news itself and from the guest experts convened to discuss the news.
2. Pairing females (plus adding John Berman to the mix) is blatantly sexist, since males are not paired. Pairing Laura Coates, when she has already shown that she is an excellent host, seems both racist and sexist. The content of the show is also sexist, in that it does not include the most important, lead news items.
3. Laura Coates is my choice not just to host the show but also to have her name on the show, as in "with Laura Coates" or "Laura Coates Tonight." She is brilliant and an erudite speaker. She does an excellent job of relating and connecting with her audience. In addition, she projects a lovely warmth of character that feels safe and comfortable. Plus, Laura Coates brings a sense of humor and bright spirit that enlivens the experience of her as a host. She also projects care for her audience that is palpable and will be missed without her as a host. Alternatively, Alisyn Camerota is more reserved and thus duller, less appealing. She doesn't shine on camera the way Laura Coates certainly does. She is more reserved and, while not exactly cold, does not relate to an audience with Laura Coates' ease, flair, warmth and caring . Finally, Laura Coates has already shown that she can perform the role of sole host with aplomb. Laura Coates is a star! (P. S. I am a white woman)
I miss Don Lemon at night, I prefer Laura Coates over Allison Camerata. Allison tends to interrupt, downplay very important news and seems to compete with Laura right on the screen. I don't know why Laura cannot have the show. She is fully capable and has proven it. I don't even watch at night anymore because the show has become very boring and without substance without Laura being there. SAD.
Bring back Laura Coates FULL TIME! I now watch MSNBC at 10 and 11pm. Alysn Camerota seems often confused and inserts her opinion rather than facts about the news stories. When anchoring with Laura, Alysyn is sometimes aggressive in getting air time with little substantial to contribute. She seems to be competing with Laura instead of co anchoring with her. Few facts instead only her opinion and fluff. These are serious times in our country and we need serious news, conversations, discussions and answers about what is happening in our country.
I’m wondering if it had already bee decided that Laura Coates was going to host the show all along. Maybe they brought in Alisyn to help ease the transition.
Please put Don Lemon back in his old slot. I love him, but he is too grumpy and opinionated for my mornings. Replace him with John Avalon or John Berman in the morning. Don Lemon Tonight needs to come back.
I did not find Allison Camerata to be dull. It is often difficult to figure out what Laura Coates is trying to say. Allison was more straight forward and I appreciated her on the nighttime program. Laura gives great legal advice. I miss Don Lemon.
