We purchased a puppy in 2013 and we were assured before making the 3 hour trip that his labs were all AKC registered and had papers. Mike told us that he made sure that his labs had no history of hip dysplasia as he bred his labs as police dogs. We met the sire and dam, both had good personalities and soft coats, we chose the chocolate puppy he had recommended. He assured us that the puppy had been wormed and vaccinated and that he'd send the paperwork but couldn't do it then as he had to leave. We drove home only to find out that our puppy had a very bad urinary tract infection and worms. I reached out to Mike for registration paperwork several times with absolutely no response.
Within the first year we noticed that he had a strange gate and seemed to walk with his front legs almost stiff. Our vet suggested we watch and wait but was concerned about dysplasia. We've had him on glucosomine and have now switched over to a raw diet as he now has advanced osteo-arthiritis in both front legs and 1 back leg. He is only 3 years old and we just took him to MSU Veterinary Hospital for Elbow Dysplasia surgery. The Dr. there said that it is too advanced already and he will need to have an elbow replacement within the next 2 years. We are so very sad that this man is running a puppy mill breeding labs that have this painful degenerative disease! Avoid supporting Mike and his puppy mill and stop this painful disease from being spread through this sweet breed!

We also purchased a puppy from him mid summer of 2016. He is now 11 months old. He is half the size of my other yellow lab, he is only about 60 pounds, and his parents were very large labs (I would guess around 100lbs) which is what pursuaded us to purchase a puppy from him. I have also wondered about my puppies gait, he always sits funny and his back legs just seem really loose and wobbly. We were told to wait it out and let him grow a little more and recheck if it's still continuing. After all the complaints I've read on this guy, it looks like I will be making another appointment with the vet and insisting we determine if something is wrong with his hips. I am wondering if this is what is preventing him from growing into a large hefty lab like his parents. We were also assured that he has NEVER had a lab have an ear infection, as I was concerned because my other lab is very prone to them. My puppy has had at least 3 ear infections since we got him. He also had urinary issues up until about 2 months ago, where he would just leak little drops of urine. When we purchased him, Mike told us he had not yet received the Akc papers and would mail them to us within a week. 2 months went by before I finally contacted him asking for the papers. Granted he did send them shortly after the contact, but it is still ridiculous we waited so long. His son is listed as the breeder on the paper work, which is fishy because we purchased the puppy from Mike. We never once met his son. The whole situation has always striked me a little bit odd, and I've read so many different complaints/stories about this guy, I thought I would just share mine.
