Mogel embezzled money from Alta Healthcare and was fired by the Alta CEO Tom Lee.
Mogel was sued by Alta and had to pay a settlement of over $200, 000 in 2006.
He later embezzled money from Integrated Healthcare Holdings and a court determined he used the money to pay a thug to retaliate against a doctor who complained about the high rates of interest these hospitals were paying to Medical Capital. The thug planted a gun in the doctor's car and made a false complaint to police the doctor was waving a pistol and involved in a road rage incident. The doctor was exonerated. Mogel was found to have a picture of the thug and emails to him on his computer. Medical Capital was later shut down by the SEC as a Ponzi scheme operating in California without a lender's license. Medical Capital was charging the hospitals over 19% interest at one point. Mogel got a personal 'loan' from Medical Capital's principal, Joey Lampariello for millions and there is no evidence (According to the receiver for Medical Capital, Thomas Seaman) Mogel ever paid it back. Lampariello went to Federal prison for tax issues. Medical Capital's investors were shafted.
Integrated's BOD forced Mogel to resign in 2008 and paid him money not to answer questions about his involvement with the retaliation against the doctor.
Mogel returned to Arizona, where he was again involved in a Healthcare debacle called Green Valley Hospital where Chinese investors claimed they were bilked out of their investment of over $50 million.
