Dear Mr. Templin,
I recently bought a used Toyota Camry SE at 175,000 miles. To my great astonishment after a couple hundred miles, the car began shuddering and the gears began sticking.
After several days of researching, taking it to mechanics and reading blogs of total disappointment, I realised this model and year had several recalls on it due to issues you all knew about when this car was made.
Toyota has refused to stand by the issue stating it was a recall up to a certain mileage limit. This is no right. If Toyota knows there was an error, then this error should be fixed at any point in time.
I find this really bothersome as different cars are driven differently by many people.
I believe being honourable in all transactions is the reason why Toyota has always been a car sort after.
To my utter dismay I can no longer say this due to my experience with your Toyota franchises in Franklin TN.
I am a missionary without the funds to either replace my car or fix it, hence my email to you, appealing to your good sense in helping me to replace it known issue by Toyota free to me.
Gentlemen,
I am writing to you to inform you of my utter disappointment with the conversation I have had with your executive team member Scott from Texas.
In my previous email, I stated I purchased this vehicle in about Oc/Nov 2021 and found out after the fact there was a recall on the transmission and torque converter.
I took into your Franklin Toyota dealer and I am now informed by Scott that Franklin dealership has stated the vehicle was never brought to them. This is not true. I have Mr. Thomas Anderson who took in the vehicle and spoke to the manager there to confirm this event.
Secondly, this issue was a recall which states monies were put aside to fix this vehicle, period. Toyota has always been a reputable company with over 30 billion dollars in profits and asset. So to not want to fix the transmission and torque converter when this was a problem known to you, is showing a lack of concern for your customers. The money to fix this said vehicle was already put away for this reason.
For Toyota to sell its reputation for a merely $5000 ( cost to fix a problem which you all knew about, put aside monies to fix it) and is now hiding behind the technicality of “warranty” is absolutely disgraceful.
Honestly and integrity is what founded this company and today, you have sold its’ honourable reputation for $5,000.
I will no longer purchase a vehicle created by Toyota and will inform my circle of influence of this as well.
As the saying goes, one unsatisfied customer can bring down a multi layer of a company.
It is with deep disappointment I send this email to all of you today.
Your salaries are paid for by your customers, period! Customer service is imperative for any company to build upon. I am sure your Japanese team will not be happy with the service and treatment of the USA team.
Desired outcome: To get my transmission and torque converter fixed at no charge to me
