I was shopping at dollar tree with two of my friends and we noticed the manger was following us every aisle we went to and when we asked why is he following us he responded by saying we are black and look suspicious that made me and my friends very angry and we told that does not give him a reason to follow us around so we proceeded to go checkout the stuff and he followed us until we left the store one of my friends had forget to buy something so he went back in and the manager shoved him out the store I am highly upset that this happened and something serious must be done because this is not right the mangers picture is below serious action must be taken against him because we did nothing wrong
My teen, Student Body pres, volunteer tutor, never took anything or hurt anyone in his life was also profiled at a dollar tree and followed around. He is a teen of color. At another dollar tree in WA, he also was denied use of their restroom even though we were paying customers, and others were allowed to use it. 2 experiences with Dollar Tree racism and profiling in WA state, and I'm not only done with their store now, but letting everyone here know about it.
It does not matter what color his skin is. If he is not allowed to use the restroom he is not allowed to use the restroom.
WOW! An incident of one person being followed around . You know what the problem is? You need therapy to conflict automatic thoughts. Did you know I am white, brunette and get followed because I look suspicious. You blindly associate the reciprocation of actions toward people of color with racism. Do you know how many times as a manager at dollar tree I’d uttered the words : “keep an eye on that crackhead, that white-Spanish, whatever he is . That guy right there.” If you look for trouble, you gonna get it. This story is identical with other people who’ve I’d caught stealing boxes of fudge Graham’s up their sleeves and then when I confronted them outside, it was either the race card or that they’ve forgot to pay.
So what, and they also hire drug dealers and pedos who’d raped their 11 year brother and his friend.. sick part those were two managers who continue to get promoted. The drug dealers... well that’s their business, but the pedophile needs to go. Your complaining about behind followed around when there are worse problems with dollar trees like collapsing bleach floor stacks and rotten food in the fridges because the top manager allows certain assistant managers to slack off . Seriously, I will never eat any frozen meal from a dollar tree. Oh... but you know someone who was followed..
This happened in 1967. I was working at a 5&10 store. I'm white and was 17 at the time. A black lady came into the store looking for fuses. I showed her where they were, asked if she needed help finding the correct one. She said no, so I went to help another customer. I was reamed out for not hovering over her the whole time she was there because, "they all steal". This lady was about five foot nothing, a hundred years old and walked with a cane. That was the first and last day I worked there. I didn't like being followed around in stores because I was a teenager and I darn sure wasn't going to do that to someone else, no matter their age or race!
This is not proof that the author of this post was actually followed. What you are doing is applying a guilt by association mentality that you seem to hate.

Not being nosy but if you are in nyc, which school do you work for? I also live in nyc and am concerned about the intelligence of our teachers. I’m afraid you are being hired for something else rather than your credentials. By the way, As far as the hippi I believe nothing he says as his generation was infamous for drugs and violence. The name juju within his username seems to add some credibility to the fact that he is some aging hippi that loves the stimulation of drugs. However that is just a guess. Then again you probably don’t even know what juju means.

Don't worry, I get followed around at Walmart all the time by some old bag that is there every morning, must be one of those secret shoppers or whatever they are. She's always walking around but never has a cart or carrying anything. She is white and I am white. So it ain't just blacks.
Yes, I go most days in the morning at the same time after I drop my son off. She is always walking around.
