Lowe's - Firing of employees trying to stop shoplifting

Subject: Firing of Employee trying to stop Shoplifting.
To Whom it may concern:

I will no longer shop at your store based on your policies of termination of employees who try to enforce shop lifting.

I'm sick and tired of your company's callous procedures in termination of employees that received injuries from trying to stop individuals breaking the law. Especially a 13 year employee that received injuries from individuals while breaking the law, stealing over $2000.00 worth of inventory.

I spend a lot of money in your store and now you will receive no business from me. Nothing, nada, zilch.

You have disrespected you last employee and I believe you should reinstate this loyal client and apologize for your unsupported policies you don't enforce for shop lifting. Shop lifting is Shoplifting. I don't care who it is and you fired a valued employee for no reason? Therefore, I no longer will shop at your stores.

Please don't bother to write me and try to explain. You were wrong and your company is too cheap to have in-store security to enforce your shop lifting policies. Your company is too cheap to protect your employees and the inventory of the store.

I'm truly appalled at your actions and will not tolerate any justification of this policy of termination of your employee.

Thank you for reading this letter.

Sincerely,

William P. Schaefer

Georgia woman, who was repeatedly punched in the face while trying

to stop shoplifters, is fired from Lowe's for violating store's policy

by PAUL SACCA JULY 23, 2023

A Lowe’s employee was fired from her job for attempting to stop shoplifters trying to steal over $2,000 worth of merchandise in Georgia.

Donna Hansbrough previously worked at the Lowe's store in Rincon, Georgia. On June 25, the then-employee attempted to thwart a shoplifting attempt.

Three suspects reportedly loaded up a shopping cart with merchandise and exited the home improvement store with the stolen items.

The Rincon Police Department said in a statement, "Lowe's employee, Donna Hansbrough attempted to stop one of the subjects by grabbing the shopping cart. Hansbrough did not at any time make contact with any person. The cart that Donna grabbed was in the possession of subject Takyah Berry. After Donna grabbed the cart, Berry struck Donna in the face three times causing Donna’s right eye to swell and blacken."

The Rincon Police Department identified the other two shoplifting suspects as Jarmar Lawton and Joseph Berry – the uncle of Takyah Berry.

Police said they had arrested Lawton, but are still searching for the uncle and niece suspects.Authorities said the trio stole merchandise worth $2,101.

Police said Lowe's fired Hansbrough for attempting to stop the theft, which violated the company's policy against intervening with shoplifters. Hansbrough had worked for Lowe's for 13 years.

Hansborough told the Effingham Herald, "They say that if you see somebody stealing something out the door, not to pursue, not to go out. I lost it. I grabbed the cart. I don't actually remember going out but I did. And I grabbed the cart with the stolen items in (it)."

"I just got tired of seeing things get out the door. I just … I lost it," she added. "I basically lost all the training. Everything they tell you to do, I just … I just lost it. I didn’t expect to get terminated. Maybe a reprimand or a suspension."

Hansborough doesn't expect to get her old job back and is looking for new employment.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to "directly help Ms. Donna with any bills while she attempts to find new employment after being fired by Lowe’s for something she clearly had no control over." At the time of publication, the crowdfunding campaign had raised nearly $13,000.

Desired outcome: Reinstatement of employee to her job

Lowe's - Samsung refrigerator / sold a defective product. Fraud.

in 2018 we started remodeling our home in Fort Worth Texas, on July 8th 2018 we purchased entire new kitchen appliances from Lowes 4305 Bryant Irving Road Fort Worth Texas. The appliances included, Bosch 800 series dishwasher, two Bosch 800 series ovens, Bosch 800 series glass cooktop and one Samsung refrigerator RF23J9011SR. Our home was completed in late December 2018. Every appliance has worked flawlessly except the Samsung refrigerator, every 4 months in 2019 the Ice maker froze. Watched YouTube videos on how to defrost. Then again and again it froze. Quick google found a Facebook group through our local news channel with thousands of complaints on these Samsung refrigerators ice makers freezing and not holding the correct safe food temperature. Then in 2020 pandemic hit and learned from the Facebook group that the technicians have to be sent out 3 to 4 times before Samsung even considers giving out a refund. And after the first repair almost everyone complained that the refrigerator would not hold safe temperatures. The repairs do not solve anything both Samsung and Lowes know this. They just want to waste our time so we will just go away. I have contacted Lowes, they have only offered $150 gift card or 10% off another appliance or up to $400 for repairs that do not solve anything. I need Lowes to step up and give a full refund. Lowes has known about the Samsung ice maker problems since 2006 and have continued to sell them in their stores to the public. These are manufacturing defects, no repair will fix the ice maker. Lowes has known about this when they sold us the refrigerator.

Desired outcome: Full Refund.

Lowe's - Extended warranty on dishwasher

I purchased a dishwasher from Lowes, including an extended warranty. I've been trying since June to get it fixed. I have spent countless hours on the phone with Lowes. They have promised three times that they are shipping the part needed for repair and scheduled a repairman, but the part never arrives, and I have to cancel the repair appointment. I adjust my schedule to accommodate these appointments so my time is wasted. Lowes only response is to call warranty services AGAIN. The extended warranty I purchased was for repair or, if repair isn't possible, replace. The company they use for warranty work, A&E, deemed the dishwasher unrepairable since no part is available yet Lowes continues giving me the run around.

Desired outcome: Replace my dishwasher under warranty

Lowe's - 2 bathrooms redo incomplete and shoddy work

I have been trying since 2018 to get Lowes to have another company redo my 2 bathrooms since they say they no longer do bathrooms or refund the $28, 755 I have already paid them and clear the balance of $23, 899 and still increasing with interest on a original contract amount of $22, 848. They have continually either ignored me or assigned different persons to my complaint who would then assign it to someone else. They finally offered me $15, 000 which would not cover anything, another company or what I have already paid them less more what they are saying I still owe as of today. Plus they added $2, 500 on the bill without my permission. I even invited the CEO Marvin Ellison to come to my house to see the mess they created here but receive no response. Lowes is using deceptive and fraudulent practices towards the elderly, minorities, and lower income. I am 77 and would like to have my bathrooms redone while I am still living. There is mold and mildew buildup from moisture under the tile floor which is a health issue and on the walls of the master bathroom as the tiles there are not meant for bathroom walls, there are holes in walls, ceiling, gapes by doors and over mirror, ceiling fans, water does not drain correctly because floors are not sloped enough, and these are just a few of problems. I have around 30 pictures of work.

Desired outcome: Lowes pay to redo bathrooms or refund what I have paid and clear balance.

Lowe's - 55 days and no refund

Do not shop with lowes because their online return system is [censored]! 2 months later still no refund!

1. As of today, it's been 55 days since Lowes received the returned damaged/broken shower head... 55 days!

2. The Lowes website states, "Purchases made with a debit card will be refunded as cash or credited back to the debit card, which may take up to 15 days." https://www.lowes.com/l/returns-policy.html

3. Your rep Mario stated it was received on April 19th... Refund wasn't processed until May 13th... And a refund should be received by June 11th.

4. Your social media employee states that your refund department can take up to 28 days to "process" (not "you should receive in.")

5. Now you are stating that it take another 3-10 "business" days (essentially 2 weeks) for it to show up in my account

You will understand me when I state "I don't believe anyone at Lowe's" because this is complete [censored]. Multiple calls to a ridiculous overseas call center... on hold (on average) an hour before someone answers (one call was just under 1 hour and 19 minutes before they finally answered). Not once has there been any mea culpa from Lowe's, nor any offer of compensation for the inconvenience at any step in the process. All this is over a f'ing shower head!

I've disputed it with my bank, so enjoy the charge back. I do not want any compensation from Lowe's (especially after I have pointed it out after the fact). I will continue to share my experience across the various internet platforms and to all who inquire. I will not bring my small tiny insignificant home improvement needs business to Lowe's ever again. Needless to say, this has been a beyond frustrating disappointment.

Robert J
Former Lowe's customer (remove my information from your database)

Desired outcome: FULL REFUND ASAP
