After reaching end of my lease on 2020 Elantra in July 2023, my son and his wife bought the Elantra. July 6th I received letter from Hyundai that the Elantra was purchased by my daughter in law and my obligation was considered "satisfied in full" with no further obligation. My son could not register the car because the title was listed as previous owner Hyundai Lease Titling Trust and buyer was in my name and my wife's name. My last name was spelled incorrectly(missing "s" at end) hers was not. I received a check from Hyundai Capital made out to Clerk of Courts title office. I called Hyundai Capital and was told by their agent to send the check to Hyundai Finance in Plano, Texas because of some Ohio law(?). After making copy of check and sending letter to explain, I tried calling the Plano Texas Office I could not get any answer. Called Hyundai Finance in California to find out if Hyundai received my letter with check($700+) but no luck. Now, after approximately 12-14 calls and who knows how many transfers from customer service agent to supervisors, one disconnected call, and at least 4 promises of different forms to be mailed to me and probably about 8hrs total of my time on phone,

and 4 months later this is still not settled.

The Hyundai Finance cust. service supervisors told me that they would email the title department. I requested they call someone (maybe a list of contacts for the dept.?) but told they don't have that technological ability to call them directly, only email to the title department in general and hopefully someone will see it and respond. REALLY? Come on, what kind of big time business like Hyundai, does not have that capability to pull up a list of contacts for different departments. Now that was in October, back in September I was told that their systems were "down" 3 different times. Again, REALLY? They never had the system in place. So October 26 I had a supervisor tell me that the title department would send out the "affidavit of correction". Great, right? Well they sent me this document and it shows the mispelling that needed correcting, which they fixed, HOWEVER, they managed to mispell the correct spelling of the main part of my last name- reversed to vowels that make it a completely different last name! As of Octobe 31, I wait for this to be corrected and sent to me again. Talk about incompetence. This whole Hyundai customer assistance system is one major [censored] show. So Nov 1st I finally received a replacement check for $700+ . 4 months. Now waiting for the correction of the corrected affidavit to be done once and for all. (I hope)

Claimed loss: cannot put a number to the hours spent on phone and frustration.

Desired outcome: I want the title corrected so I and my son and daughter in law can move on from this.
