I began leasing a vehicle through American car center in 2019. I have always paid my payments biweekly on time if not early. When American car center went bankrupt and Westlake took over there was zero communication of this change. I found out when I went to pay my payment and it kept redirecting me to Westlake portfolio management website. Fear that this could be some type of scam I began calling them with no answer. I would sit on hold for a good 30 minutes and then it would hang up on me. There was an option for American car center customers to select a number corresponding to the reason for your call and that is what I selected. I ended up paying Westlake that first payment as I did not want to risk having my car repossessed. I later discovered if I selected the option as an already customer of just Westlake I could get through. I asked for a payoff quote so that I could trade the car in and get out of it as it was having a lot of engine issues and Westlake was not honoring the warranty in my contract. I went to a dealership only to learn that the payoff quote I was given was not the full amount owed, but in fact I owed 3,580 on top of what they quoted me. I have since paid my final lease payment and chose the option for them to pick up this crap car that I significantly overpaid for. They also failed to send me the info needed to be able to pay the final lump sum to keep the car, I had to reach out to them to find out. They also did not state until then that I would have to pay it in full or finance that amount through someone else. My account now says I owe zero dollars but is saying payment past due. They will not answer my calls and I sit on hold again only to be hung up on! I have sent the email with the mileage of the vehicle and location where it is to be picked up and it’s still sitting out here 3 weeks later. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to come get it? From the other complaints I’ve read these people are repo hungry so why are they taking so long to pick up a car I am voluntarily giving back? I also moved from Alabama to South Dakota last October and have been trying to register the vehicle in South Dakota, it took so many phone calls and e-mails to finally receive the required documents needed to transfer my car registration. When I arrived at the tag office to pay and complete the transfer she stated to documents they sent were not legal and there was nothing stating American car center gave Westlake power of attorney so after my third attempt to get the car tagged here I decided it was best to just give it back. Something is very sketchy with this company. You can barely understand anyone you actually speak with in the event the actually answer the phone. And when you do understand some of what they say they seem incompetent and confused. If you are new to dealing with them and have the means to get a different car through a different company DO IT…. RUN far away from this company - if I could afford to take legal action against them for all of the mystery fees and failure to honor my original contract with American Car Center I 100% would’ve done it months ago! My apologies if this complaint is all over the place but this company and their unprofessional and shameful practices just infuriates me!

Desired outcome: Pick up the car or send me the title!
