Huntington Beach Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will be very attentive during the car buying process. But their customer service after they hand you the keys is horrible.

On June 29th, 2023, I purchased a slightly used Wrangler from them, and I specifically told the salesman that I did not want to purchase any of the "Protection Package" add ons that they put onto every vehicle. He said those were negotiable. I specifically pointed out that nitrogen for tires was free with my Costco membership. Well they took that add on off but still snuck the GPS ($999), the Anti-Theft warranty ($799), and the Surface Protection ($599) onto my bill.

The GPS is provided by ELOGPS. They told me it was like Lojack, it is not. ELOs service agreement states that they can share any information gathered by the device with their dealers. I am not comfortable with that so I contacted the sales person and the finance manager to let them know that I did not want this device or service on the vehicle. The finance manager told me I had to come in and talk to a sales manager.

The Anti-Theft warranty is offered by Ally Auto. It was very easy to cancel this by calling Ally Auto directly. Here is the problem- They issued the $799 refund but the refund payee was Huntington Beach Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. The dealer was supposed to apply the credit towards the outstanding balance on the vehicle. This was issued on July 18 2023. On August 28th, I drove down to Huntington Beach Jeep and asked for help with this refund status. The finance manager said that only the warranty clerk could take care of this but she was sick that day. He would forward the information to her and it would be taken care of. I have been emailing both the finance manager and the warranty clerk but have not gotten a definitive explanation of where that money went.

While I was at the dealership, I talked to their floor manager about the ELO GPS. I told him that I did not want this device or service on the vehicle. He told me to just cancel with ELO. I told him that I wanted it removed and I want a refund. He told me he would have to schedule service for that and charge me to remove it. I told him that it was just a dongle and that I was able to disable it. He just said "well there you go", that I "bought it and that it is mine- have a nice day." He was rudely dismissive towards me.

September 6th, 2023 and still no information on the Ally issued refund.

Desired outcome: I want the $799 refund already issued from Ally. I want a refund for the ELO GPS and the Fabric Protection

Resolved

After contacting the Financing Director of the Dealership, the optional add ons were removed and refunded.
