Very interesting - I just looked over the weekend - had similar charges. I called them and they were closed over the weekend. So not only did they charge this month - they have been charging my credit card since January. I don't know how I missed it. So I called my credit card company and it's not being charged as revolving which mean monthly someone is entering my information from TLG*GREATFUN. I called them this morning, pushed zero and demanded to speak to a manager. After getting a speal from the woman on the phone about what great offers they can provide to me - BLA BLA - THIS IS A SCAM! Management credited my Visa for the last four months and said I would have to contact Corporate to reverse the other charges. Call them now... Great Fun - [protected] - and their Corporate Fax number is [protected].

Yikes! After reading these comments, I just canceled my membership today one day after signing up. I decided to give them a try because they were on priceline (which I trusted) and because of the $50 cash-back offer.

I was fortunate to have my user-name and password on hand. Here is how I did it,

First,
Sign-into their website (www.greatfunsite.com)
Your account number should appear near the upper left corner, write it down.

Second, (going by memory here, should be something similar)
a) Call [protected] (this number is on their website)
b) Press 5
c) Enter your account number (Ignore the bit about your account number appearing on your billing statement/membership material; you can get it from the website as mentioned above)
d) Select cancel
e) Write down the cancellation code the computer voice gives you in case you need to dispute your credit card charges (the computer will repeat it if you say "Repeat")..
f) If you wait silently on the line after getting your cancellation number, you will get the option to talk to a representative about refunding charges (but from what I gather from these posts it is probably better to NOT talk to them and simply dispute the charges with your credit card company).

I'll keep an eye on my credit card statement. I'm guessing my cancellation was easy because some people must have complained about them (thanks to whomever you are). Good luck to you all!

Oh reading all these blogs makes me realize I to am in for some fun. Just noticed tonight I have a charge for 11.99 on my credit card so i called 877 number only to find out they are closed (only open m-f 9am to 11pm eastern time). The call said your membership office is closed. I'm thinking I never joined anything I'll call my credit card they too said all the info they had was that is was some sort of membership service. So I started reviewing previous statements - wow this has been going on since last June08 thats like $107.91 and still going. My credit card will stop payment and trust me tomorrow I will be calling any and every number I can not only to stop this but find out what can be done about this. My best friend from college is an attorney I think I'll give her a ring in the am as well. My card say tlg great fun---- surprise surprise I googled it and here I am with all of you folks. This just is not right.

My husband booked airline tickets via priceline.com, and without realizing it. clicked some buttons and joined Great Fun...have you all bought anything via priceline.com? That may be how Great fun got your information. I too am fighting the charges. I have called them twice now. They told me to fax them a letter which I did last week. Now they sent us a letter stating how we joined, and the steps my husband took online to join. Along with that is another form I am in the process of filling out to try to get the charges to stop, and get reimbursed. Has anyone contacted the better business bureau? That will be my next step.

I had the same issue everybody. I called them up and they said I received the charge because I booked a flight on Priceline.com and chose to save 15% or some garbage. I know I didn't do that, because in order to save, you are scammed into spending *cough*GreatFun*cough*. They did say they would refund the 11.99 though...Guess I have to wait 7-10 business days to see that. Unbelievable these companies sneaking their charges in on you without even knowing it. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I was signed up for "Great Fun" by signing up for True Credit to monitor my credit against fraud. Haha, the irony of that. I called Great Fun and True Credit. It seems to me that neither of them can prove I accepted anything, was mailed anything, or would even like to take responsibility for this bs. I will be sending a letter to both of them to file a formal complaint. I will also be filing a complaint with the Attorney General and the BBB. Very, very frustrating

I've been a member since July, I never got the promised $50 cash back on my airline tickets. I've tried to cancel over the past months, always calling "after hours, " as it's difficult for me to make calls during the business day. I tried emailing them and they told me I couldn't cancel by email, I had to cancel over the phone. I finally gave in and called from my office today only to be told after going through their ridiculous auto prompts that they were too busy to take additional calls and that I should call back later. That was after calling the number on my credit card statement. I tried one of the numbers from this thread and had to go through the auto prompts again and then immediately, without any hold time was transferred to a rep who cancelled my account. This is infuriating...they purposely make it as difficult to cancel as possible.

I too became a member when I bought plane, motel and rentel car through Travelocity in OCT. 2008. The repeated pop up from Great Fun Was Annoying to say the least, offering a 15% discount back on my ticket and room and car rental. I have called Great Fun 3 times to be removed from their membership, with no avail. Today in relatively quick time I did get to speak to a manager, after telling the lady tht answered the phone that I was NOT INTERESTD in any of their discounts or offers. Damon Rice, Supervisor, answered and after reiteratiing that I did not join the service, and telling him that I was looking at about 500 blogs about Great Fun doing the same thing to other people, ie fraudulently charging their crdit cards with membership fees. Mr. Rice repleied that he knew nothing of that but on Oct. 17 I had joined to get the 15% back on my tickets and that I had been mailed a Great Fun Membership packet to my home address. I told him I had never received a membership packet and had never agreed to join Great Fun because I knew what it was. He agreed to refund 3 mos. of membership fees to my credit card. I asked him how long that would take, and he replied 7 business days, I should see it on line if I would access my credit card account. I asked him for a conformation number and he gave me one. I am going to be really surprised if I receive the refund, but I am hopefull. Now to focus on PriceLine, as they, to my thinking have to be in on this SCAM. Nancy

Let's take legal action against TGL Great Fun and make their life misery? I have been charged $35.99 on 02-19-2009 without any clue. I ordered nothing on the Web and I did not make any purchases on this day at all. I spoke with Visa and they credited back the money. Few days prior that charge I received a letter from Bank of America that they discovered unauthorized breach of my account. BofA changed my account # and send me a new Credit Card. It is now clear that TGL are criminals. My idea is this: let's unite against TGL Great Fun. We can take legal action and there are government attorneys who will take care of this. If anybody is interested in my idea, please send e-mail to: ptomov@yahoo.com.

I have caught them twice charging my account and the first time my credit card company closed that account and sent me a new card with a different account number. I will be damned if these SOBs did not charge me another $12.99 this month. How did they get my CC number? I have not even used it for any online purchases. Therefore, I did the same thing and called my card company to complain again. They said they would contact these thieving bums and call me back. I do not see how this can even be legal.

We were busy last year and didn't pay attention to our credit card bill like we should have, so we missed these charges on our bills until just now.

Like many of you, we had no idea where this was coming from or how they obtained our credit card information.

Long story short, it was an offer my wife had accepted $10.00 off her www.classmates.com membership, which was somehow linked to a "Great Fun" trial membership. Apparently it is well hidden, and the parent company Trilegiant likes to keep it that way. Of course, they never send you anything in the mail or email to let you know you have a membership or to notify you that your trial membership is over.

A few lessons learned: Don't accept any offers on websites unless you've read ALL the fine print, and even then, realize that money and discounts usually don't come free. Second, don't support websites like www.classmates.com, www.priceline.com, or any of the others you see here that Trilegiant is involved with. Third, try and get in the habit of checking your bank and credit card statements monthly. Life is busy and we all have busy spells, but I kick myself because I know we could have set aside some time one day a month for looking through our bills and we could have caught this before Trilegiant stole our money.

One final recommendation: there have been a number of class action lawsuits filed against Trilegiant. Do a search and see if you can participate or at least file a complaint with the Attourney General. The more times they see Trilegiant's name come up, the more legal attention this will get.

I thought I was getting an expected $50 rebate for travel and motel booked on Priceline, dribbled out in $10 checks from Great Fun. Wrong! But what I want to comment on was that when I called to cancel the "membership" a REALLY DIRTY stunt was pulled on me that almost cost me more than the $11.99/month I've been charged since Sep 2008.

I asked for a confirmation number, and the representative I was talking to started talking faster than I could understand. I had to ask him 5 times to repeat himself and speak slower. It was as though his voice was muffled. When I finally understood him, here's what he'd been saying: "Since we offer you such great value I will void this cancellation, OK?" I couldn't believe my ears! I said "You've got to be kidding me. What did I say was the reason for my call?" He said "But this is a great value for you." I haven't heard this kind of scam since the 70s; he did give me a cancellation number but wouldn't give me his name. I wonder how many people automatically answer with "OK, thanks", thinking they've been canceled and not realizing they'd actually just voided their cancellations.

Be careful and don't hang up without a cancellation number, no matter how angry these rip-off artists make you.

I just did this and as soon as I did I looked them up and found this thread. I canceled the account on their site and shot off an email to the bank. I hope they don't charge me for the 10 minutes of the "Free 30 day trial" that I was a member .

Thanks to all of you for speaking out.

I am sooo angry right now with this company. I don't know why I received their membership card. I never requested it. I have tried all day to call their toll free number, only to be told due to the high volume of calls for me to call later. This is after they ask me for the membership number! I am calling my credit card company to tell them of this injustice. I can't believe this scam!

On my 2/2009 bank statement I found a chare from Fun Spot in the ammount of $36.99. This was the quarterly charge for their service. When I finally got through to one of their "reps" she told me I somehow okayed it online! It is supposed to be refunded in 10 days. I'll be looking for someone to report this to...my bank, better buisness, etc.

I too have been a victim of TLG Great Fun, they've been withdrawing funds, $35.99 and $11.99 out of my account for almost a year. I noticed it immediately b/c I check my account daily. I called two times before and the customer service rep told me that my membership has been cancelled. I have three debit cards since then, how are they still getting my debit card number. This is simply fraud. Jason, the rep told me that my money will be refunded in a few days. He was still trying to offer me discounts throughtout the whole process of me cancelling my quote unquote membership. I want my damn money back and I'm filing and lawsuit against this company. The question I want to know is how are they still getting my card number?

I am also very frustrated with this company! I started noticing the charge... in the last few months. I noticed it on 3 DIFFERENT CREDIT CARDS! 2 of them being Canadian! When I asked the lady today how they are charging it she said I authorized it when making a purchase through HOTWIRE.COM! She said at the end of the reservation I agreed to some thing that was free for the first month. I don't know how this is possible as I've never done any transactions with Hotwire.com on my canadian cards! One of the cards had been being charged since summer of 2007! This is a total scam. If this is something that Hotwire.com is condoning, I will definitely NOT be using them in the future!

I was just charged 12.99 by "TLG Great Fun" and have not done anything through Orbitz so have no idea how they got my information. I did purchase plane tickets through Jet Blue and Southwest directly, not that that matters, unless this is some sort of thing affiliated with travel sites. I purchase items online all of the time, but never signed up for this. We also received a discount card in my husband's name in the mail with "great fun" listed on the card. I did not read it carefully thinking it was one of those offers you had to sign up for. Knowing we had not paid for it, I simply tossed it, not realizing he was already considered a member. The wierd thing is the charges were on MY debit card, but the card in the mail was in my husband's name. I am disputing the charges and have cancelled both our debit cards. I tried to call "Great Fun" to see how they received our information, but their office is closed as it's a weekend. I want to be done with it and felt the quickest and easiest way was to cancel our cards, plus was afraid we would be at risk for all kinds of other fraudulant activity. If anyone can provide information as to where to file a complaint or how to begin this process, I'd love to file a complaint or be included in any kind of class action suit. This is illegal, and I don't want them to get away with this. It's a shame, but I'm sure there are many people who don't pay attention to their charges or account balances and aren't even aware, which is what allows them to continue to get away with this.

Exactly the same situation. Great Fun has been charging my credit card for months. I did not see it. I have cancelled the card and commenced a fraud investigation with American Express.

The website does not indicate a cancellation procedure. I suggest a fraud complaint.

I was reviewing our checking account activity online and noticed charges of $11.99 made over the course of four months. The vendor was listed as TLG*GREATFUN. I immediately contacted our bank and found out these charges had been made using my husband's debit card. The bank cancelled the card and is in the process of reissuing a new card. The individual I spoke to in the fraud department said they've seen this happen a lot when customers use Priceline.com (which we DID use the previous month to book a car reservation).

I just looked at my credit card statement and saw the $12.99 charge. Kept going back on my statements and it was still there. So I called my bank and they connected me to TLG Great Fun. At first they were telling me that I wasn't eligible for a refund and then I demanded to speak to a supervisor. She then credited me 4 months of charges. It will take 48 hours to process and we will see how that goes. I also called my bank to let them know about this company. They said I could dispute it all now or wait until they charge again without Authorization. I just told my co-worker what happened and the SAME company did this to her as well through shutterfly.com. They said I agreed to this on cheaptickets.com. SO BE AWARE of the sites you are on! Thank god it is only $13/month. But it adds up.

I just noticed on my credit card a charge for $13.99 for something that I did not approve of and I was wondering what the heck is this Great Fun thing since I have never heard of it and now they got hold of my information and charging me something I did not approve of and I did not agree upon and too what the heck is this thing anyways? It's sad that some people like this company is getting hold of our information and stealing money from us.

FYI I just looked into how I could have possibly been charged for this as I knew I did not cash any of those checks they send (which definitely say on the back that if you cash it you join.) I found that when registering online for a Howard Johnson's hotel stay that a pop up offer was displayed once registered to which I supposedly positively responded. I'm in the process of writing to them to have the charge removed but I thought I'd let everyone know to watch those online reservation systems for this.

There is a lawsuit agains them but it depends on the state you are in. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/12/trilegiant_chase.html

I just accidentally got caught in this scam too so I'm scrambling to avoid the doom. I rented a hotel on Hotwire; a company I've used happily for years and I'm very disappointed in them for being connected with this scam artist. I clicked a link to "save $20" from my email confirmation from Hotwire. No idea I was going to another company's site. Stupid me! I put in my state and a password and clicked a button I thought would take me to get more info, but to my horror I had signed up and gave Hotwire permission to give them all my personal and credit card info. I emailed both them and hotwire to tell them I do not agree to sign up. I went to Great Fun's site and logged in and told them to take me off thier mailing list. I'm thinking of reporting my credit card lost so I can get a new number or I'll fear having to watch my statement for years to come.

Okay I just realized that I have been getting charged $11.99 each month for god only knows how long. I called my credit card company today and said to dispute it I would have to call the company and of course it is the weekend and they are closed. I think I have been getting charged this since April or May because the last time I used this credit card is when I purchased Airline tickets and a rental car from Priceline.com. I checked great fun's website and they are partners with Budget rental car company which is who I got my car through but I slightly remember seeing somehting about great fun on Pricelines website. After getting off the phone with the credit card company I realized that I think I have been receiving mail from this crappy company and found it. I have a check from the company for $10.00 but if I were to cash it, it would activate some kind of "savings plan". Since I know I have not cashed any of these clearly junk mail checks, why oh why am I getting charged. I am peeved! Lets just say someone at that stupid company is going to have their A$$ handed to them first thing Monday morning.
