On Tuesday, 12/12/23 @ 10:12 AM I was shopping at the Local Family Dollar, Store # 05370 Located at 296 E 82nd St, Newaygo, MI 49337. While there I chose an Item, Weather Station Alarm Clock by RCA. When I got to the register the clerk informed me that a customer had recently returned this same item due to not having directions. The package was opened in front of the clerk to ensure the directions were in the box, which they were. I also asked the clerk if the item could be returned if I did not like it. The clerk responded by telling me that "if I didn't like it to bring it back". The next morning, 12/13/2023 I returned to the store, # 05370, to return the clock. As soon as I entered the store, I encountered a different lady working the register and she immediately said, "I could not return electronics". I replied by saying, " since when"? The clerk then said, very rudely, "It doesn't matter, We Do Not Accept Returns on Electronics". At that point I turned and left the store but immediately returned and placed the clock on the counter and said, "You might as well keep it or throw it out as I don't like it". After a couple of hours, I figured I would go back and talk to the store manager. The same clerk was still working the counter. I noticed the clock that I had placed there was still sitting on the counter. I told the clerk, "That I had changed my mind, and I would just keep it". I also said to the clerk, "that you should have a sign posted". The clerk replied, "We Do". I went and looked and there was a sign with very small print. I did not read the sign as the first clerk informed me that I could return the clock if I didn't like it, as a lady the previous day had done so. The clerk then told me, "She shouldn't have told you that". I asked for the Store Manager and the clerk informed me that she was the store manager, and that I could leave, because I was being loud and belligerent this morning. Needless to say, I was stunned and said, "Excuse Me, I can't believe this". The Clerk/Store Manager said, "I could leave and never come back and that she was going to notify other stores of this situation and that I could not go to any other location. I have been shopping at Family Dollar for years, multiple times a week and have never been treated so rudely, or with such disrespect. The Clerk/ Store Manager was loud, with multiple customers around. Being a previous business owner, this is not how a "Store Manager" should handle situations. This Clerk/Store Manager did nothing to defuse the situation, only managed to escalate the situation further.

Desired outcome: The Manager should be informed of complaint, and on how to interact with customers. Response to myself will be fine so not to fall on deaf ears.
