return of washing machine
Purchased a GE Profile washer and dryer with stands. Took me 15 minutes to purchase appliances and set up delivery for the next morning at 8:00. After three weeks the washer started smoking and a burning smell came out of it. Called back to same store and explained what happened. First they just gave me a 800 number and said they could do nothing. Then after realizing I had 90 days, I called and asked for a new washing machine. They said they didn't know if they had one, when pushed they finally said they did, then when I asked to be scheduled for the next day, the person in appliances said that only a manager could do scheduling and they would have to get back to me. After three more calls I finally got scheduled. The next day two delivery men showed up and came in and said they would have to check to make sure washer was broken (said not that they thought i was lying) and then said they thought that they had brought the wrong color. Said they would return in a couple of hours. Not...then I called store manager who proceeded to come out with another man and take pictures of washer and turns out the delivery guys had the right washer just was alittle color blind. Came back five hours later (all day by now) and drove onto yard, scraped walls, and while unpacking new washer in garage to bring in, dropped it. So, wondering if this one will last? I had no trouble buying it but what a nightmare when i had a problem.

item falling off shelf and not an appropriate reaction
While with my family in the local store a drill in its case fell from the top of a storage shelf inches from hitting myself and child. A store employee was willing to help and talk with the manager that was on that particular shift that day but after talking with the manager he/she then sent that employee back to appologize. I never saw the manager or did...

I ordered three interior doors to be installed in my home. I payed $1, 240 up front on May 23. I now have two doors, (it's October 22) but they have had to send back the third door twice because it came to them damaged and twice the installers they sent damaged the door... badly. In the mean time, I have had family come to visit and had to hang a sheet in the door. Everyone apologizes, but it is the most incredibly incompetent work that I have ever seen done (and I'm NOT the fussy sort)... Will NEVER go into a Lowe's store again.

maybe I ought now speak as yet. got them kitchen cupboards . . . arranged to have them installed . . . they did, and the we find out every door hinge rubs, on door is near a quarter of an inch below the cabinet line. Lord . . talk about getting the run around. Store manager is up. . . like it rally puts you in a bind. . when they don't hire, so you are supposed to hire some on to do it. .. Doesn't the warranty state, that it no longer honored as soon as another touches them? ? ? Better business bureau, here we come
fan will not turn
I purchased two Harbor Breeze ceiling fans with light kits. A few weeks ago the fan stopped running. In the on position you can hear and feel the motor trying to operate but the fan blades will not move. Model: YU-C52WCF (BAOD52-5LKL) Feb 2006 "YY", 5 blade. The light works fine. Any suggestions on what to look for?
scam and theft
Our family has been shopping at Lowes for years. For years we have tried to "build something together." Once again we have had a horrible experience, this time with a store manager (female) that "honey" ed us to death. We spent over $50, 000. for products to build a store, most of the time the products were wrong and the delivery wasn't done as promised. Then we foolishly decided to do some home improvements. The manager "gave us good deals?" Only to find out the price she quoted us over the phone and then after install the price jumped up over $4oo.oo, and to make matters worse she never put us on the no interest plan as promised. After spending $6ooo.oo in the store. We went in to find out why our bill was so high and why we weren't on the no interest plan. The explanation was she typed it in wrong.
But they wouldn't put us on it. Not sure why "honey" suddenly didn't like us anymore? Maybe because she made so many mistakes. Amazing isn't it, the store manager screws up and we the customer gets penalized. For the record we never went in and signed for the merchandise or for the install of the carpet. She, "honey" did it all.

i too have received the "honey" and "hun" treatment at the lowes in athens alabama from someone who acts like she is the manager but i have been told she is not - she just thinks she is! she is a really big woman who just sits behind the desk and has her back to the customers until someone tells her there are customers there who need help! then she acts like she wants to help until you complain that your bill is incorrect or your order was supposed to be ready but it is no place in sight - the she just "hun" this and "hun" that and gets on the phone to find someone else to help you! or she gets on the overhead announcement system and starts calling out peoples names to come help you because i guess it is just too much of a bother for her to do it herself! i have seen this fat ### in the store numerous times and never have i actually walked in and seen her out of that chair behind the desk. she will do anything she can to blow you off! you are better off going to home depot even though it is 10 miles down the road!
terrible everything
OCT 2008: This past week, we bought two sets of mini-blinds at Lowes, Louisville, Colorado. There was a sign posted - $70 installation which we confirmed with the floor sales staff. The following day we called to set up the installation. After being transferred to the wrong person twice, we set up the initial appointment, where their sub-contractor comes to your home to measure your windows. The charge was $35 for the measuring, which could be "applied to the total contract cost." So far, so good.
I then took the measurements and had the blinds trimmed (for free) at Lowe's. I then had the floor sales staff call the installers to let them know we were "good to go" and to put us on their list -which we understood could be about a week wait. Again, so far, so good.
Then the trouble started.
After I left the store, we received a call from the person at Lowe's who handles the installations that I needed to come back to the store "to sign an installation contract." I requested that it just be faxed. No can do, they said. I then asked to speak to the store manager...
After a long wait, DAN answered. At best, he was perfunctory, but mostly unhelpful if not uncaring. He said not only could we not do a fax, but he started blaming the floor staff I spoke with at the time of sale for telling me I could handle this over the phone. He also blamed the installers who came to our home, saying they shouldn't have given us the measurements of our window wells before we signed a contract - (Say what? The measurements of our own window wells?).
It gets worse.
As directed, I had my fiance go to Lowes Louisville that same evening in order to "sign the contract." I expected this to be a five minute procedure. My fiance spent over an hour in frustration in the store.
One other note: Because of the height of the blinds and the fact that the old blinds had to be removed, we had been told that there would be an additional $15 charge per window blind. Fine. That would mean, I figured about $70 more, when including the credit we had already paid - $35 - for the measuring.
At first, the staff at Lowes hasn't any idea of what contract we need. After my fiance gets me on the phone to speak with the floor staff, they say "Oh, I think I know what you need." After a great deal of delay, I find myself on the phone once again with the store manager - DAN - who this time has had my fiance already sign a installation contract for well over $200!
In addition, Dan is disputing that Lowe's even has a sign advertising a $70 installation offer, says he can't see it, and questions whether we even saw it. Again, he's blaming his floor staff. Again he's blaming his installers who came to our home for letting us photocopy their paperwork.
If this wasn't unprofessional enough, he begins to argue with me about Home Depot, who is located about a half block away, who has a "whole house" 10 window treatment installation for an amazing $118. I'm trying to tell Dan, if he wants to keep our business, he might want to help us, not rudely defend himself and blame others.
As it turns out, Lowe's won't allow my fiance to get back the paperwork (contract) she signed. After I get Lowe's staff back on the phone and demand it, they do allow her to cross off her signature. Furthermore, they keep the paperwork she brought to the store and even kept our receipts for the blinds. My fiance left, feeling completely disrespected.
For the record, we have invested over $40, 000 into two homes during the past four years, and have spent thousands at both Lowe's and Home Depot. From now on, it's Home Depot who gets our business.
Buyer beware. Lowe's, in our experience is disorganized, lacks competence and shows little ability to work with frustrated customers, at least when this manager is involved.

refund
We purchased a washer and dryer and paid for the dryer vent. The store was not able to match the unit color and were returned. They also took the dryer vent. We made another purchase and had to buy another vent. Months ago I wrote to the general manager of the store requesting reinbursement for the vent and may letter has been ignored.

Well I am just enraged. Today my husband and I went to lowes to purchase a new dryer. When we first arrived we were not greeted. We stood in the the plumbing department for over 45 minutes before someone finally came to help. But wait!!! They did not help us at all they just said that they would get someone else to help you. So after waiting for 25 more...

Our frigidaire stove that is a little over a year old, has a chip in the porcelain on the top of the stove. Since the manufacturer warranty recently expired, we contacted lowe's as we had purchased an extended warranty at the time we purchased the stove. A service technician from a and e factory service came out on september 23, 2008. He deemed the defect to be cosmetic and had us sent touch up paint. Lowes states they do not cover cosmetic defects as part of their extended warranty. They keep referencing #4 under the general exclusions which states, "cosmetic damage and problems due to improper and / or non - factory authorized installations or repairs. " i tried to explain to several people including supervisors that the damage was not caused by improper or non - factory installations or repairs. Therefore, it must be covered. They refuse to replace the part or replace the stove. They are failing to uphold their extended warranty contract. A contract that we paid an additional $89. 97 for at the time we paid $524. 88 for. This is consumer fraud. I have provided copies of the sales receipt in addition to a copy of the extended warranty agreement
I am in the same position as all of the other complaints. My GE front load washer quit draining water. The washer will be 2 years old in May. Purchased the protextion plan. Filed a claim online and a technician came out 3 days later. Said it was the water pump. Waiting for the part he came back out and replaced the pump. Started the machine again, same problem. Told me he would be back in touch. A week later and no response. I called the protection plan ( call center outsourced in India) , and they told be that they needed to open a new claim and a tech would need to come back out there. The same technician. Took off work, and no show. Called the tech and he told me that he did not need to come out there, he already been out twice, its the control panel and the part needs to be approved before he can order it. Called the protection people again, told me they have receieved no such report. Called the tech told me sent the report 4 times already. I have asked to speak to another person, they will just put you on hold forever or hang up.
If you use the chat feature they will tell you that they will escalate your claim and you will recieve a email, and no email. It just a circle of lies and not fixing your appliance.
THIS IS SUCH A SCAM.
I am having a similar issue, except there was a small hole in the gasket due to wear and tear of my GE washing machine. Same thing called the repair person. They took forever because somebody had put their address in real fast for a short repair guy in jap being a 19 old kid who is not a certified technician he had told me on the job training, and now my washer is completely ruined and broke
We purchased whirlpool appliances Jan 2020 (oven, countertop burner, frig, dishwasher) with the 5 year extended protection (Assurant in Philippines) plan on each, the dishwasher will not drain starting in August 2022, I called the number and they have no record, I have faxed them a copy numerous times and attached to an email numerous times & they still will not honor the contract. I’ve talked to supervisor’s they will pass the info on to their lead person, one person told me they did a computer upgrade/conversion in May 2022 and anything before that is lost. Even though I have provided them the info, they still will not honor the contract. Lowe’s won’t help either, once the info is passed to Assurant Lowe’s doesn’t care. Basically they are selling a protection plan for Assurant, and they are done. Lowe’s hands are clean. I guess for us it was wasted money, I’ll have the repair out of pocket, maybe file a complaint w/BBB, or file small claims. We feel cheated, thanks for listening. Fraud? Ellie / Kansas
I have a similar problem with a Maytag dishwasher. It was purchased at Lowes November 2020. Service tech came out on October and diagnosed issue as defective water circulation pump. He received authorization to order the part through Assurant. It is nearly four weeks later and he still has not received the pump from Assurant. I've made mutiple phone calls to Lowes and I was told the issue was escalated.Nothing has happened and nobody seems to know what to do at this point. I called Lowes Customer Care and they refer me to the extended warranty department. They are useless. If Lowes in monitoring this site, I am requesting you honor your commitment to the extended warranty I purchased in good faith.
I'm 5 MONTHS out, with multiple visits, multiple parts, and my washer STILL doesn't work. NOW they tell me my extended warrantee has 'expired'. Surprised?
I am on day 5 & still no call from a maintenance person after calling & filing a claim. Assurant site says claim is still pending. That's 5 days and no refrigerator/freezer that I paid $1600 for 4.8 years ago. Save the money on warranties. You may need it to replace your groceries like me. If I could have rated this less, I would have.
I bought a Protection Plan to my Dishwasher. They are not professional. The technician was unpolite and he was in hurry. Guess what? The problem was there. After one week, he came again. He didn't do nothing. After that they scheduled 2 times and canceled. My dishwasher still without repair. They want our money! My advice: Don't buy it!
I bought a protection plan from Lowes for my washer and dryer. In the contract it clearly says that coverage period starts on 7/28, but after I called 10+ times and 10+ emails I was told that I have to wait 30 days for schedule someone to fix the problem. I think this is a consumer fraud and I want to go to the court. Anyone has the experience or suggestions? thanks.
The 2nd time my Whirlpool microwave broke
I keep getting different answers from the warranty company
Either way it's not fixable. It's been 4 weeks so far now I was told to wait until 7/ 8/22 it is a microwave over the stove and I need the fan more than the microwave. I have been disconnected several times waiting for a supervisor. I was originally told 24 hours once the original 10 working days past. Now it's another week
First, very hard to communicate as they only speak broken english but that is an issue for another time.
What a terrible extended warranty. 2.5 yr old Whirlpool Refrg/Freezer went out. Call Lowes service, took three days to send out repair company and they could not fix appliance, company was not qualified to handle since it had a Freon leak. Called Lowes back, they could/would not help since they needed to wait until they received the report from the repair company, which took three days. Before I could call them back, received an email stating the appliance had been repaired.
Called Lowes again. Service rep said she would file a claim to have it replaced but that takes two business days. Waited and called back the next Tuesday and they had no record of a claim and said they needed to send out a service company again. They wanted to send out the same company that had already said they could not fix it so finally convinced them to send a different company. Waited another three days. Repair company shows up and can’t fix it, has to order parts that are back ordered and estimate another two weeks for parts, MAYBE since they are on back order.
Called Lowes again, was basically told too bad, but since they ordered parts to repair I will need to wait for however long it takes.
REALLY! How long do you have to be without a refrigerator/freezer before they replace? Assurant is a terrible company and protection plan, with poor service and Lowes needs to step up and support the plan like they promised when it was sold. Like someone mentioned in a previous post, when you ask to talk to someone else, they just leave you on hold or hang up.
Just a poor experience all around and still not any solid resolution..
I am going through the same thing with my refrigerator. It went out June 22 and no one looked at it until July 19. Of course they had to order parts. The parts came to the house. It is now August 23rd and they have canceled numerous appointments without telling me each time and the refrigerator is still just sitting here. I have an appointment now for September 1 which I am sure will also be canceled without my knowledge. I have made numerous calls to the repair people and the warranty people, who are nice but very difficult for me to understand, but received zero satisfaction. I am at my wit's end.
It's a cat & mouse game with them, call center is probably outsourced. I still have my washer & dryer from SEARS. Lowe's fridges we have 4 of them.. not cooling, freezing foods, fruits and liquids.. now this Whirlpool fridge let's out an odor that permeates food in wax paper containers like milk, butter, lettuce, fruits and vegetables, eggs and of course your ice cubes have that taste. We got some help from a service that right away smelled the odor, it wasn't a Freon Leak.. it's Whirlpool the problem.. they keep sending other companies they all say we don't smell anything. By filing a complaint with the BBB against Whirlpool in Michigan to get the ball rolling, this fridge was any 5 months old.. it's a lemon. Do the same use the BBB file a complaint and you can do it online.
They care after the sale is over in the heavier money. They don't give a damn about your problem. I had the same experience trying to exchange a $900 Maytag washer the next day after I purchased it the agitator would no longer turn. They refuse to assist me in any way at the Bristol Virginia Lowe's store. Fred Smith Bristol Virginia
Similar issues! We bought a Samsung frig in 2020 and purchased the 3 year warranty. We’ve had over 10 claims! A few times it took weeks before they sent a service provider and each time the service provider needed to order parts. Meanwhile our frig ran all the time and our freezer had so much frost build up. This has been going on since 2020. We were told by another source that Lowe’s would have to reimburse us because of the number of claims however when I brought this to Lowe’s protection team member it was a different story! Well in June of 2023 we figured we should keep a warranty on this piece of crap so we renewed our protection plan $710.02! Early September our freezer started building frost again & we filed ANOTHER CLAIM! Three days later I received an email from Lowe’s Protection Plus stating they could NOT find a service provider in my area and they would send a GIFT CARD (of course to Lowe’s) in the amount we paid for our frig! WELL GUESS WHAT? Technically they only paid us $1200 and we paid $2100. Our original protection plan just ended on 9/13/23. We just have them $710.02 because Lowe’s refused to refund us for the plan we just paid for! I am so disappointed with Lowe’s and I DO NOT WANT TO BUY ANYTHING FROM THAT STORE!
Said they would replace my fridge, but it was not in stock. After a year of waiting for it to come back in stock, they said the Return Authorization expired and they would not renew it. Now I'm asking for a full refund of the extended warrantee that I never used and I'm getting hassled and terrible customer service. They keep telling me to send an email and not offering a phone number where I can get an update on my refund. And I'm not getting a response to my emails. Now I see the "scam" people are referring to. Buying the plan and making a claim are easy. Getting the service taken care of or complaining that you did not get the service is where you end up in a black hole. The call center you do call has no ability to escalate or give you a number to call. All they ask you to do is send more emails that get no response. According to them, they don't even have a number they can call. They can just "escalate" through the "system." What a scam indeed.
Run do not walk away from Lowes extended warranty sham.
First you wait on hold for over an hour each time. Connected to a representative who barely understands English, even when you repeat the Information they get it wrong, asking for a supervisor gets you disconnected (after the hour wait). Never a call or email (told repeatedly y they cannot email me). Refrigerator under three warranty not working.
Lowes warranty is a HUGE waste of your money.
Move your future purchases to Home Depot.
Hi
I have the same issue! Yes the supervisor at Assurant hangs up on you or puts you on hold till the phone times out. On May 6 they stated when I called to get repair done they kept telling me they were switching computers and couldn't find my extended warranty even though i could've sent them the paperwork proof of purchase and the actual contract they emailed me, but NOPE the don't do email or fax. Then they set me up with Bill & Rods Appliance which never showed up because they don't deal with lowes (gee I wonder why?). Now Ive got the genius's at A&E Factory Repair (Sears owns them) and let me tell you its the worst company to work with!We started this journey (with A&E) On May 27 and Im now set up for June 28 for repairs. In between this month's worth of time they've been out 3 times with all sorts of parts but everytime they change a part and its supposed to work and hour later if stops. The best part is everytime it has stopped after they've left I've called to let them know and they set me up another appointment 2 weeks out. So now i've been without a fridge and freezer for an entire month. I had Autumn Appliance come out a few months ago and they fixed that issue without waiting 2 weeks for an appointment or parts. A&E repair man lied straight to my face about the parts and service date and pissed all over the bathroom floor when i allowed him to use the restroom. On top of all that hes a predjudice [censored] and made rude comments of his co worker. Oh and he scratched my wood floor by laying down some dirty white plastic to roll the fridge out on. So NO MORE LOWES AND A&E FACTORY SERVICE REPAIR. Ive always been a Home Depot customer and this one time i got a better price from lowes vs home depot so I bought my appliances from them ($12780).
price match
How great of lowes to pride themselves on a guarantee competitor price match. However, they are not willing to price match their own store. That's right one lowes in one part of town has one price and the other lowes a couple of miles down the road has another price - and guess what - they will not match it. Even after the first lowes told me to go on to the other store and get the item there, for they were out of stock. So guess what lowes - I guarantee that I will take my business to your competitors instead.
lied, sloppy work
I ordered a wooden fence from Lowes and the sub-contractor came out and appeared rather bored and annoyed. Whatever...I paid almost $6, 000 upfront for my fence and his attitude was minor. What wasn't minor was the slow, sloppy job that they did, the mess they made and the overages of about $500 worth of dry cement and boards that they left in my driveway and on my lawn. It took them 6 weeks to pick them up, under threat of a lawsuit. DON"T ORDER FROM LOWES!
SLOPPY and rotten management.
(ps- they also messed up on the delivery of a patio set that I had ordered about a month earlier)
poor managment
As a contractor I get no discount. I spent over 1000 dollars. They said I had to spend 5000 dollars to get 10 perceve nt discount. I hav not a lar account so they already have me on the hook. I never recieve any coupons. A freind of mine, n thousot a contractor or account holder. He recieves discount coupons every month. That what I get for spending a couple thousand dollars every month. I will be cutting my lar account card. Thank you fotr your customer no service...

scam and cheating
I ordered hardwood pellets for my stove. I paid for them on a Friday. No problem 37 tons in stock. Monday the delivery shows up with the cheaper softwood pellets. I told the driver that I ordered hardwood pellets. He called the store then told me that they sold out of the hardwood pellets. I told him take them back. I called corporate and was told the store manager would get back to me. I got a call saying there was a mistake. The hardwood pellets were in the warehouse. I gave them a hour to get the right pellets to me. They did. I let them know I wasn't happy about this. All I get is "it was a mistake and they corrected it. I'm sure if the pellets were delivered to someone who didn't check, they would have received a cheaper product and possibly not known the difference. I can see the wrong pellets being loaded. But to be told that they were all sold out after I discovered it, doesn't fly. Especially when they did have what I ordered at the store.
I ordered an exterior door with 'professional' installation. They ordered the wrong door, the installer (Ron Grub) arrived late, unprepared, and left early with job unfinished for first install appt. Was a no-show no-call for the second appt. Forgot parts on the third install appt, and was late for the fourth (and I hope final) install appt. I've called Lowes for assistance in getting the install completed and they've been of little help. Since I had to pay up front for the whole thing I guess there was no incentive. I will never do business with the Terre Haute Lowes again. If you find that you have to and they refer you to Ron Grub as a 'professional' installer, get a prescription for valium because you'll need it.

After years of shopping at lowes I have made my last purchase from lowes. Your rebate program is a scam and your refusal to honor 35 dollars you have lost all future purchases.
Lowes is running a rebate scam. After years of shopping at lowes I will never enter their store again. Their company is untrust worthy.
I went to Lowes in Miami Lakes, that store is very clean and organize we went with my husband to do first installation and they called some one Evelin Olivera and she hardly speaks english and also she has a very bad actitud, seems like she had more important things to do than help and talk to the customers.
We had a couple of questions for her she did not know and she was bad informed later on her supervisor took over and did a good job with us and the questions we have were answer.
When we were ready to pay we went to customer service and a lady Vanesa asked if was some thing wrong, we just told her how bad we feld about this lady and the experience with her, she said no matter what we wil do she always will be fine since the managmet team will protect her, we never paid the installation agreedment and walk out of the store and we went to the competition.
This lady in customer service said that they are many cases in the store like this with other employees but the friendship inside the store goes beyong that and bad employees get away with murder, because of the things that going on such a personal friendship between employees and the people incharge, thats why they don't feel confident on say the complaint to no one else and tried to talk to the customer out of any complaint, my personal opinion, Lowes need to change employees and managers around so no one will do such a friendship where the customer is the one who waks away for ever and very unhappy or they need to be out the job for good and get better people, profesional and caring.
exterior door order/install problems
I ordered an exterior door with installation. The salesperson ordered the wrong door and the 'professional' installation service arrived late on the first day of installation and left early with the install partially completed, failed to show up on the return date to complete installation and did not call to tell me they would not be there to complete the...

The worst customer service I have ever experience in us. I was treated like a criminal for opening a box before I buy it. Several associates were around and nobody asked me if I needed help. When I opened the box a women started accusing me in all kinds of things. Don’t buy from them.
Can't you read English? Why do you have to open the box? You should know better than to open the box...nobody wants to buy open boxes because they maybe missing something. That's is the reason people open sealed boxes is to take something out. Otherwise they can't read the box which is printed with the contents enclosed. What's your reason? You didn't give it in your complaint. So now you defaced the merchandise. Every person afterwards will have to check if something has been removed...or worse discover it after they arrive home. How many times has that happen? Do not open the boxes. Period. Anywhere...anytime.
If the shoe fits ... wear it. Do you need a translation?
Horrible customer service. Knowbody knows what they are doing. They refuse to help you, Worst experience I ever had at a home improvement store.
###! LOWE's is so paranoid about a lawsuit they won't even confront shoplifters unless they have videotape and 6 witnesses. Sounds like you were feeling guilty or just paranoid or maybe you just feel like this normally. maybe a valium or something stronger like a bullet will put you out of your misery.
installation of countertops
we purchased cupboards and had them installed july4th and picked out sink & faucet & granite countertops. They called one day & said we need to come down & buy a sink, which we thouht we piced out earlyer. So we drove down and no one there to help us in kitchen dpt.So we bought a sink so they could ship to countertop people. then later they said the faucet would not be in until 09/09/2008 and that they would ship both when the faucet came in. So we waited weeks & one day they called & said that the sink would not fit under counter & that the faucet did not come in, So they said they took the store faucet store sample down & I told them they would have to solve the problem on the sink. What a nightmare on elmstreet if iam going to spend $13, 000 it will be in a different store. We were suppose to get $750.00 rebate but they sent $500.00 What a joke. WE are still waiting on countertops. I sure am Glad i know alot of people IM going to spread the word if you know what i mean !
useless furniture warranty
Bought 3 patio love seats from Lowes, still under warranty when button on back cushion fell off.
Called distributor - none left, no help. Manufacturer is overseas, no help. Called Lowe's Customer Assistance, no help.
Called store Manager where we bought them, no help: None in stock, can't replace. WILL reimburse cost of whole seat if returned, but then we can't replace with matching one (bad solution). Won't reimburse for repair, even though Lowe's warranty states "We will, at our sole discretion, REPAIR IT (caps mine), replace it, or refund your money based on your method of payment."
We're stuck with defective furniture. Nice.
We're no longer Lowe's customers.

We added a 700 sqft addition to our home using over a dozen gallons of primer and Valspar paint from Lowe's. We painted the room, then installed the floor, thus giving the paint over a week to dry. One year later, we moved a chair that was in the corner, and it was stuck to the paint on the wall. We pulled the chair away and chunk of wall/paint came off. We also had the same problem with picture frames; paint stuck to the back, causing the pictures to stick to the wall. We literally had to pry the frames off. I send both an e-mail and written letter, hoping for an apology and maybe an explanation, but nothing. It's just horrible paint, and even worse customer service.

For sure, that's hardly a paint problem. That's a problem with the painter.
Surface prep! It ain't the paint buddy. Besides, stop watching home improvement shows, you're not that good and you never will be.
poor installation of shed
I purchased a shed to be installed by Lowes contractors on 8/10/07, Total price $1806.21. After installation the floor was weak and now the shed has shifted and the door is hard to open without lefting it up.
I have called Lowes, went to Lowes, my son has gone there on a daily basis trying to get this resolved. I talk to Mr. Jim Konkel at Lowes Easton and he promise me he would get this matter taken care of.
Someone came to my house (didn't call) to look at the shed. They told me to take everything out of the shed and they would be back on that Monday.
They did not show. I call and still no show. My son went to the store and a
couple days later they came(did not call) a board was place under the shed and this still did not solve the problem. The door is still hard to open and the back of the shed floor is weak.
The only way this shed can be corrected is to take it down and put it up again.
I am so tired of dealing with trying to have it corrected until I would rather
Lowes come and take it down and give me a refund.
I don't want anyone to come to my home again without calling and if this matter is not resolved Iam going to close my account and shop elsewhere.
Lowes had no problems taking my money and this was paid in full at the time of ordering, but I can get their attention to correct an error now.
This will be turned over to my attorney and if necessary the BBB.
uppermanagement/district & regional
I have a complaint on the other side of the equation, not as a customer, but as a spouse of an employee of lowe's... About the district management on up. It's not what you know, it's who you blow! All I can say is mike king (Rvp), you can take your little man syndrome and "your hand-picked people" and shove them straight up your #! As for you, rex rhyne (Dm), you are so 2-faced it makes me sick. I wish you could see how you treat people. Maybe one day, you'll get a taste of your own medicine. Oh! And by the way, lisa johnson (District loss prevention) thinks your wife is a "bible beating #" and that she's a snob - remember when ya'll went to savanah with her on riverstreet and your wife had something to say about tatoos...
To customers of lowe's, don't get me wrong, I love the company. Sometimes it is not the local stores fault, but in fact the upper managements which bring down the store, starting with moral. Some of the lowe's upper management thinks they are superior. Maybe if they brought themselves to reality and see each stores specific need, everyone could benefit.
Is it normal practice for Lowes to belittle and berate the older employees? Accuse them of thing they have not done? Write them up and tell them it's the final, when they have never been written up or even spoken to in the 11yrs. they have been with Lowes. Guess its as good a reason for getting rid of someone for writing a letter to you for complaining of awful treatment and disrespect. they have had to endure. Now being accused of threating a co-worker. So not true. And there was a witness. Told not to speak to anyone about it. The women is 70 yrs old. The other in her mid 30' and has had several other issues with the employees at 1607. Worst management team that store has ever had, the worst. And most of the employees will attest to that. When you gonna get off your Bums and check into this?! Good people are leaving and others are looking for other jobs. Your loosing so much and you don't deserve to have hard working, loyal and dedicated people working for you. Does a lawsuit have to happen before you all wake up?!
I ordered a screw gun and I was happy until I found out that there no charger. I realize why people don't buy things on line now I wasted my time and I have to return or ship it back.e Now I can't leave it in front of my house. Thanks for wasting my time and money I Know to a company it's not much but if I knew this I would!
I need to know how many lost their sick leave hours at the end of 2012. I also need to know how many did go over their allotted 48 hours of sick leave this year. There is a policy violation but in order to make a class action suit, there needs to be as many people who can vouch for the handling of their sick leave. Contact .. richardhlohrmann@gmail.com and explain your situation.
Well. I have to say that in all the years I worked for (S)Lowe's, the bottom line is that it went from being a Family-Oriented/Family-Driven company; to being no more than all of the other corporate power-houses out there. I can say that I was a dang hard-charging employee who was blessed to work under two of the best, most fair managers in the company. The bad part came when I was promoted and moved to another store. The manager of this store was in his position for one reason and one reason only. The color of his skin. Now you can call me racist, but associates and managers who were also of darker skin of mine and other stores who had worked for this manager said the SAME THING. This idiot (according to Vendors who serviced his immediately previous store) ran his smaller, less profitable store the same way that he ran this much larger, much more profitable store. Here's how he did things. BTW this was one of the two corporate stores and for those who know, Mooresville and Huntersville are the only two "Corporate Stores". It all depends on which day, week, month, or year it is, but one of the two, or both are the corporate stores at any given time. Makes a whole lot of sense huh? But, the way he did things is that at least once a month, members from other district stores had to come in to get "Top Stock" straight. Not only that, but all of my interviews had taken place over the phone. The first day (a Saturday) that I walked into this store and into my department, the Winter reset was due to have been completed and had not even begun. There were fireplaces, heaters, wood stoves, etc blocking every aisle in the department, but the two main aisles through the department. This was at 530am with the doors gettin ready to be opened in 1.5 hours. Not to mention that they had promoted a person to department manager who was 22; had no supervisory training; and had only been with the company and in that department for 7 months with no clue as to what he was doing (and he was subsequently fired and brought up on charges for price fixing for friends to the tune of some $50, 000-75, 000.00 over a period of 6 years that was discovered about three years ago. Numerous people went down with him- Sales Manager, 2 zone managers, and the head cashier who was his fiance) BUT... the man who was in charge of the store and who looked at the reports and knew what was going on and did nothing about it... You know.. The man of color who was an idiot... He is now a District in Ga. Well, for me, the problem came in when people from Corporate came into the store and wanted things changed around in my zone. They would not go to my store manager. They would come to me and want to know why things weren't done when they were supposed to be done. I would tell them that either I had been told to do it that way, or that I had never been told. So they started coming to me when something needed to get done and they told me that it was because this store manager did things the way that he wanted to and that they couldn't touch him. Well, this store manager got pissed with me because of this and began making my life a living hell. He ordered me to do what he told me and not what corporate officials told me to do and I told him that I could not do that and would not do that. Ya see. I have been in public safety at this point for a long time and I told him that if he was a captain and a battalion chief ordered me to do something, then it was going to get done. He did not like that. So when I was approached by a VP and given the opportunity to go to work for him at Corporate, this store manager would not sign my papers to go to corporate. Now all of you who have, do, or are related to anyone in Lowe's know that if your manager will not approve the transfer, then YOU WILL NOT GO. There is so much more I could say, but it would take up a complete page. But I will say that the comments made on here are completely accurate about the brown nosing and all that goes on. You can be an excellent employee; go out of your way to make the customer happy; increase the sales of the department you are in or over 10-fold; and it still doesn't matter. Short and the long of it. I left following an incident where this manager went in (admittedly) and purposely omitted all of my opening and mid-day employees for the Saturday of Spring Kick Off and then told me that I had to cover the department by myself and would not allow one of the 14 people I had on the schedule for Outside Garden to come inside and cover the department. He did the same for Sunday, so I called out and was written up for calling out. Then, when I came back in on Monday, they ordered me to get on the phone to handle the nearly 170 complaints that had come in from Saturday and Sunday combined as a result of the lack of people in the department. I told him that I would not call one single person on the phone and told him that since he screwed me on the scheduling that HE could do it. I then told him that I was giving my two-week notice; he told me not to worry about the notice and to go ahead and leave; then called me on the phone and asked me to stay for at least another week. I told him no and walked away. Now. I have tried to go back to Lowe's numerous times and this guy has me in the system as "not eligible for rehire" even though I was very diligent, trust-worthy, and reliable. The sad thing is that unless the CEO himself okays it, I could never again work for this company and it is a great company if you can get with a COMPLETE team that's willing to get in there and get dirty with you; and trust me, there are stores out there that have the right people in place to make that happen...
There is a plain and simple fix for everyone's complaints... are you ready? DON'T WORK IN RETAIL!
I've worked in retail for over 8 years now. It's the same whether you work at Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot, or Lowe's and believe me i've been to them all.
To the women who are complaining about being Lowe's Widows...GET OVER IT! At least your husband has a job! Be grateful for that!
Everyone has a chance to go to college and make something of themselves. IF you go to school to be a manager then that's your problem.
IF YOU DON'T LIKE YOUR JOB... FIND SOMETHING YOU DO LIKE!
Lowe's, as well as other businesses, is customer service driven only if the leadership is customer service driven. It doesn't require an Einstein knowledge level to understand the necessity to treat the customer with respect and dignity. It only requires that such behavior be considered an essential component of the business' operational philosophy. The Lowe's in my town had a sever customer service problem, however, I found a listening ear in management. I so much appreciated the home center's presence in my community that I was willing to communicate with management regarding any and all actions by associates or other managers that generated bad will. This caused a turn-around in the store in my community. The store began to really soar until illegal management and associate theft occurred. Now, a comment regarding subtle sexual harrassment. All I can say is that it happens. I am considered an exceptionally attractive person, and this attribute resulted in many advances by male associates as well as management. I dismissed the verbal advances as simple flattery until an associate, mature male, asked me to lunch. I declined and I'm very happy I did as about a month later I found out he had a wife. A real scoundrel! I later discovered that managers were dating associates; all the managers were married. Managers were suspected of same sex laisons with other managers. Married managers were dating customers. Associates were dating other associates and creating families like rabbits. In retrospect, I sum up the human relation infractions as a result of not enough work for associates and a lack luster accountability system in this organization. If you have a spouse working in Lowe's management, given what I have seen, he/she is probably in a sexual relationship on the side with a person connected with the work place. Reality check!
I realize everyone needs to make a living but at the same time the company that provides the means to live should be more generous to their emoployees. I too work in retail but my company pays management by the hour so they discourage over time. I often complain about retail but after hearing what lowe's does to their managers my job is cake. I feel for these people, I used to work for a few companys as a exempt manager and I worked 60- 70 hours a week and hated it. No over time and busted my [censor] for peanuts. Corporate america sometimes grabs you by the nuts and squeezes out everything you have and then your left with nothing...by the time you get home from work you are worthless and the only thing you can think of on your day off is going back to the freakin grind again. God bless the people that never see their spouse's and I hope things get brighter for your future.
how about insallation of a kitchen counter top. One thing to be certain of its a long process and in various stages. The faint of heart could not sustain such an ordeal. You need someone to remove your old countertop. And if you want to replace your older appliances then another contractor is needed and possibly a plumber since your sink has be be removed. Your kitchen may be in total disaray for weeks before it comes together. We ordered a kitchen granite counter top in November 2010 and its March 13, 2011 and still not installed. THe measuremenr process and template process takes 4-6 weeks and the granite must cme from Mexico or Turkey. The very inexperienced installers showed up late one day and said the counter not level and left. We did not know precisely what they meant and has a 30 year veteran kitchen and countertop expert look at the potential leveling problem and all was in order. The installers showed up 5 days later, on a Saturaday, and said same thing and could not wait 15 minutes to be fixed and left. So much for quality and satisfaction guarantes from Lowes. The reputation of Lowes is being ruined by a very flawed contractor selection process. Don't be duppped into a kitchen or countertop installation. Go to the right qualified company who can do this for you and I hope you never experience the issues we had to go through. Never again Lowes!
Lowe's needs to worry about their sales and not their employees PERSONAL SPACE. They show favoritism everywhere possible instead of actually acknowledging an employees credentials before putting them to work. I have a college degree and tons of sales experience but they do not care because the HR Mangers would rather hire younger girls who do not possess the skills to get done what is needed to be done to keep the sales coming. They are failing miserably in my area of Philadelphia because of their blatant ignorance to our community and their misplaced worries. Subtle sexual harassment runs rampart in my Lowe's and it comes from the mangers along with favoritism instead of professionalism. Because of this they are not even close to meeting their quota and something needs to be done.
What of This,
I hope you were able to get your situation straightened out. It is hard. I am on short term disability with a broken tibia, it is healing. My husband is using some of his sick time to go with me to orthopedic appointments. I am able to be on my own, so he doesn't need to take much time off, my appointments are every 4 weeks. We live close enough to the store that he can come home on lunch breaks, so that helps just for the aspect of not being left alone for long periods of time. The closing shifts are harder for me than when he works and opening.
There has been one good development in his situation. Upper management finally got rid of the part timer that was not working her share of the weekends and evenings. The old biddy has had the nerve to call out every time she is scheduled for a closing shift. If it was up to me, three strikes and you are out. They tried to make her work on Sundays too and she called out every time she was scheduled. I am so glad they are getting some real help for once.
