IHOP horrible manager and phony policy

I went to ihop with my girl and my uncle and his girlfriend. Now take in mind that at this ihop they have had a lot of immature people skip out on their tabs... And people at night are usually drunk. It was a late night. My girl and uncle and his girl had been drinking. I was the dd. Also, between me and my girl, we have 10 plus years of serving experience. Mainly crackerbarrel.
Our server seemed friendly. We talked with her and placed our orders. I wasn't hungry, so I got a water. My girl got potato soup, uncle ordered tbone meal, and his girl got breakfast. She specifically asked for no pancakes and the server offered extra grits. This made my uncles' girlfriend happy.
One hour and fifteen minutes goes by; we are done talking we wanted our food. I noticed my uncle and his girl starting getting upset... Therefore rude... But I stopped them and I started talking to the server. I told her could she please check with the cooks to see what was going on. She smiled and did so, and my girl also asked for a coke refill. Now the server was a fault, but only for not keeping us updated on the food situation.
When the food came, after the manager got onto the cooks, the steak tasted awful and was cold, and yes I tried it to make sure my uncle wasn't just complaining. The server forgot about the extra grits and brought pancakes, and it had been 10 min since we asked for a refill. She then tried lying saying it was the steak that took so long. Yet a well done steak, should take a max of 20 min... And that's being nice... Hold on i'm not done... My girl didn't even get her soup!
We asked for a manager. She started talking to us and put the blame in soooo many places. First it was that the server was busy. I pointed out that I used to serve and that my girl still does. Our server only had two other table when we placed our order... When your a server you notice things like this. I told the manager that isn't busy. (Also the other tables weren't bothersome; bothersome tables can make one very busy). Then she said the cooks were busy... Then I said well maybe you need better or more cooks. Yes, I was becoming a smart [censored], because the manager was being rude in her tone, facial, and posture. I told her what about the soup, and the refill? She said, we'll get that. She offered to recook the steak... Yeah rite! Wait another 20 min for poorly seasoned steak?! Plus my uncle was worried someone may spit in it, cause we had been asking bout our food, and the manager had to hurry the cooks to get it out.
He replied, that's okay can I have my money back for this. We had to pre-pay earlier... Apparently this was a new policy. Two small bites had been taken of the steak, me and unc. She replied its policy, we can't do that. My girl replied you're the manager, you can do that. Then I pointed out all the bad things in a smart # way... Never swearing or getting loud. Take in mind we are black and my girl is caucasian. I said, "going by all the bad things from food to service my uncle should be entitled to his money back for that plate of food. Then the manager says you all have to go i'm going to get the officer and she walked away! Oh! Yes this ihop has like 3 cops late at night who keep an eye on things.
I completely understand the cops being around! But we weren't in fault in anyway, so why get them. Plus she acted like we were to be afraid of a cop... Lol. This is why I pointed out our race, because the majority of folks that come in late after the clubs were young african americans. I'm from pa, and I have no problem speaking with officers. I guess her living in alabama and working at that ihop, blacks coming from clubs wanted to avoid the cops...in her mind...
The cop comes over, I talk with him for about a min, then the manager comes over, I guess to see what I was saying (Not to help). She tries to cut me off, I told her,"i'm talking to this officer not you, please don't be rude. "then I tell the cop"now you after explaining all this you can see why we are mad, and she brought you over hear because she can't handle us like we are supposed to be scared of you or something."he smirks and shakes his head agreeing.
This upset the manager, btw, her name is nancy. She butts in again! She told the officer,"I told them I would recook their meals."I noticed she used meals in a plural since. I said told her she said no such thing. She replied again"I did offer to re-cook your meals."
I'm thinking one; we want our money anyway, not meals recooked, but to prove a point to the cop I said"okay, we want our food recooked."she looked at me like she wanted to slap me, because she saw her error, which I saw as her lying to the officer and she said,"oh no i'm not recooking all that. "I replied that she just said she would. Then I said,"you know what forget it go recook whatever." she then left.
Here's the kicker my girl still hadn't gotten her refill, the cop noticed this and he went and got it for us! No joke! We then just left, because who knows what was in that recooked steak now.
And the waitress got to keep her tip and we never got a refund... Nancy and ihop in tuscaloosa, alabama are completely awful! I have never heard of a place to not refund you for such awful service and food you barely touched, because it was cold! Also! Since when did tips become mandatory... We should have been able to get that back easily! My uncle paid cash! She just better be glad it wasn't my money... Or i'd have gotten my money back! Ihop needs to do something about this!

With it being third shift, and the majority of patrons that night I am sure being drunk, they are right to ask for people to pay first because every other drunk off their ### table would be trying to get out of there. Secondly, a server is never to blame for food taking a long time and if you ask me "filling them in" on a situation only leads to the customer arguing and then they start talking about stuff they don't know about like "well it should take 4 minutes for the whole meal etc". So, it wasn't her fault the food took too long although I don't agree it should have taken that long. The Ihop I eat at people get beat up at 3 or 4 am on a regular basis it has security too. They have to because thats what happens. And every customer is black. So, I don't think it has anything to do with race, maybe she misunderstood you. She should have given your money back though. But you have to realize what they deal with on regular third shift. Its trouble. Its fights. Its stealing. Its servers getting glasses smashed in their faces, not tipped, meals not paid for, sexually harassed. So she probably thought "oh here we go again..."

IHOP no senior citizen discount!

The new I hop at new brunsfels and ih 37 in san antonio texas! Poor service (They forget about you in the take out section) and a no care attitude!

I ordered six pancakes to go and only received just two little cups of butter! No brains when dealing or estimating! No management on site and everyone doing what they want instead of customer service!

Not only that, the ready order stayed on the cook counter for over 10minutes waiting for soneone to pick it up and concude the bagging of the order. This is no way to run a business! This tends me to believe that either I hope corprite doesn't care about the service or it reflects poor supervision!

What?! Different people like different amounts of butter. No need to be rude about it. Also, senior citizen discounts are a kindness, not a right. Get over it. Age doesn't automatically guarantee you a discount.

IHOP managers

This Ihop has poor managers, 3400 Williams Boulevard, Kenner, LA [protected] I have eaten there quite a few times, and I do not like the way the managers treat the waitresses, I over heard them. They have some of these waitresses and hostess nervous. I would like to know who the owners are, so I can talk to them. There is a couple of waitresses, and hostess that I really like, they have been very nice to me. They work over night, that is when I go there to eat. I am very uncomfortable with the managers that work there, I have seen them, and they don't act right.

The thing is, I have gone quite a few times, and I find the watresses very pleasant twards me, and doing the best they can! They are not slaves, they are doing their job, and someone need to speak up for them that is a customer. If you all do not like their sevice, than do not go in there, and leave the hard working waitresses alone! If you keep going back when you do not like their service, than your stupid! I happened to like the waitresses for the way they treat me! To answer HIRAM, why do I care, is because the good waitresses serve me, and someone like you are trying to get them fired, when i want their service, idiot!

GENTLEMEN: I urgently need to place a complaint against Barceloneta Puerto Rico IHOP Restaurant because of a higly poor service, rude and abusive treatment, pancakes and eggs badly cooked and presented and almost 3 hours waiting for service and manager never came to my table. . 3 times repeated order ( Few customers in store) .-Please, kindly tell me how I can place an online complaint as soon as possible. IHOP not good

Had the displeasure of selecting this resturant. When we entered I WAS NOT busy @ all. We stood by the "wait 2 be seated sign" watching wait staff and the mgr on duty pass us several times, ignoring us. Finally an employee who was obviously on break, sat us. Now we wait again as we listen too our waiter (Terry H) complain about how he is so busy. We ordered and when our food came it was wrong. I complained, 4 all the good it did.
We finally left and the overall feeling we felt was...never before have we got this type of service from any IHOP. Seriously considering 2 never go 2 another IHOP.

IHOP poor treatment of employees

The management of ihop of wausau is completely horrible. Elsa flores the gm is unfair in the treatment of her employees and harasses them. She has had covered up so many dirty secrets of her boyfriend who also works there and still is covering up for him. She mistreats those who are not her boyfriend's family or friends who also works at ihop of wausau. She had cover up for her boyfriend's real name and has never written him up for walking out on her so many times. But if the other employees walk out on her then they are fired on the spot. She has let him stay home with her when she was ill after something had happen to her and there was no doctor's note for the days he was schedule to work that he has missed. The management is so bad that she refused to let her employees request off work and if verbally asked off she says it's only okay if you are the first one. She denies that she is racist but to the employees, she is racist because she has said that, "I shouldn't hire hmongs because of their religion." and "I whether give the mexicans off than the hmong because the mexicans work harder." it is untrue because everyone works the same but the only way she said that is because her boyfriend is mexican. He is also not capable of working in the u. S. And has no documentation that his name is what it is. Because elsa had erased his first previous file and now goes by a different name in the system. What can ihop corporation do? Nothing because so many have had complaints about the manager and the management. Some employees also had been told that they will contact elsa's sister who owns the store. How unfair that the owner of ihop wausau let her sister elsa get away with so many things and don't say anything and brush it off as if it doesn't happen. So many employees that worked there has came and gone and nothing is happening. What kind of ihop is this? Why does elsa get away with all of the things that she does?

I have worked there and quite frankly to speak of I don't think that it was that bad. I mean if you were in their position you would probably do the same. So in all so, you don't know the story that is on the other side so I don't think you should be complaining so much. As for racism?. I believe that everyone has it in them to be a little racist so in all, you're just saying it straight back to yourself. Overall, I believe that this wasn't a really neccessary article. This article is just like getting your frustration out to the whole world when really no one needs to know about it.

I worked at the wausau store and madison store (owned by same people) and you are right. I have never been treated more poorly at a job in my life. GM began having an affair with a waitress- a totally incapable one, mind you- and promoted her to manager. Regularly cut hours and took away busy shifts from the other servers to give to family members with no serving experience. Paid them higher wages. Complaints to owners were fruitless, since all their stores are run by the owners' brothers and sisters who can get away with anything. All kitchen staff are illegal Mexican immigrants whose names change periodically. Cooks in Madison never wash their hands or wear gloves. Don't know how they can get away with all the crimes they commit. Business run by the most dishonest, self-centered family I have ever met.

IHOP eggshells in eggs

My friends and I went to Ihop for breakfast one morning, we got our food and halfway through the meal my friend finds egg shells in their eggs benedict, and they put the egg shells on the side of the plate to show the waitress. We tell the waitress, she just said "Oh, that should have not happened, let me take it to show the manager." So we sat their for about fifteen minutes, she past our table a couple of times. I was saying to my friend we need to speak to a manager right away because we had to get going, a worker there over heard me and asked what is the problem. So we explained the situation and the worker said in a annoyed tone, "Ok, what do you want me to do about it?" So we said a good discount or a free meal politely, then he told us to hold on, the worker was pretty rude to us.

We finally had to grab the waitress's attention and she told us she doesn't know what the manager wanted to do then she walked away to get the manager. The manger approaches us then and says, "There is no way the egg shells could have been in there, we poach our eggs." Ok so we thought well there are bits of eggshell in there some how, and that's it! So we ask where the plate was and the waitress has already thrown it away.

So we said nicely can we get a refund? And they give us a 20% discount? On a 13.00 dollar meal that came with eggshells in the eggs? My friend was very ticked off! The service there was not pleasant, I must say they need to work on customer satisfaction a little more. One restaurant we went to before there was a little green fly on my french fry and they apologized and gave us free fries! So in the end, we came hungry, left unhappy.

IHOP bad communication

I go to a IHOP once every week in Rockville, MD. Today, along with my friend, we went to another IHOP located in Gaithersburg, MD.

1st complaint:
When we paid our food bill, we paid with a $25 gift card we had, along with a $5 coupon. Then we told Sylvester (person at the cashier) that we decided to add more money to earn another $5 IHOP coupon. We asked him how much money was left on the card and he told us there was $4.99. Then we told him to add $25 dollars to it. However he only added $20.01 onto it to make the gift card have $25 even. When he gave our gift card back, he told us that we are not illegible to earn a $5 coupon. Even though we asked him to add more onto it, he told us "Too late. If you want to earn a $5 coupon, you need to speed another $25. Not this time".

2nd complaint:
My friend and I could not communicate with him so we asked for the manager. Sylvester said, "Manager is not here". From my experiences, I know that when a restaurant opens until closing time, the manager has to be present. I clearly explained this to him and then later he told me, "Who said no manager? I am the manager here!"

3rd complaint:
I asked for him the name and phone number of another manager, with a higher position, to handle the problem. He wrote on a small piece of paper, the name "WIll" along with a phone number that made out to be "[protected](", slapped the paper onto the table, told me, "I am very busy. Good night." My friend and I had no choice but to leave. When we angrily got into our car, I looked onto the paper and noticed that the last number in the phone number was simply "(". I got out of the car and had to go back in to look for him. He asked me what I was looking for. I asked him what the last number was and changed it to a "4". I didn't believe him and when I returned to the car, I used my cell to call the number "[protected]" and got a fax machine. I became even more furious!

I really wish for IHOP to apologize to me for Mr. horrible behavior and do something about the inconvenience I went through tonight. I will forever keep the small piece of paper as evidence, that Mr. Slyvester/manager wrote with beautiful hand writing, until the IHOP company returns a suitable answer.

IHOP smoking managers

My family and I went to eat @ ihop. Most of everything was okay up untill u smell cigarret smoke coming out what seemed maybe the office. I guess the managers smoke there. That's not right and specially for customers that don't like to smell that. Service isint so great. Managers are rude & they smoke inside the restaurant. I won't be going back there again. No way. Its smells liek cigarret. Its a franchise ihop, they claim they can set their own rules. That's something that I think requeres corporation attention

IHOP employment

I worked at IHOP and I want to let everyone know how they screwed me over! I worked the night shift for 4 years. A really skanky girl named Shannon got hired and started telling the managers lies about me and things I'd said. She also proceeded to sleep with two of the managers. A friend of the manager who also is a highway patrolman started asking me out repeatedly. I refused to go out with him and told the manager to tell him to stop and to leave me alone. He refused and told me I had to tell him myself which I had already done. After I told the guy I didn't ever want to go out with him the manager that I had informed to tell the guy to leave me alone fired me. I went back in and told another manager what happened so he told me to go to another Ihop location and hed give me a good reference and I got hired at that location. Then I got hurt and they wouldn't file my workers comp. I called the corporate office and the director of franchises told me he didn't know the law regarding workman's comp in OK and he didn't care. I had to threaten to take them to court and had to report them to the Department of Labor before they would file my claim. It took a year.They were rude, and unprofessional. I will never eat at another Ihop as long as I live.

IHOP harrassment

A fellow employee by the name of melissa ellis has been harassing me for the last 5 months. I have let management know several times and yet it still occurs. she calls me names, makes racist remarks, and makes the work zone very hostle. at the resturant there is no human resources to contact. and the manager and the harrassor are friends, and I think thats why nothing has been done about the situation. it got so bad that today I had to actually quit my job. now I am unemployed due to the harrassment. I thought there was laws put into place to insure the safety of employees, but at this particular resturant they dont go by the laws. I am taking further action about this. and I am not the only employee being harrassed by melissa, im the only one who was brave enough to say something. this shouldnt happen to any other employees nor the customers. melissa has several complaints in her file as well as write ups for simalar situations. thank you

IHOP eating my food

As I sat in IHOP, my table facing the kitchen, I watched as the server
took my plate out of the kitchen and put it in front of her. She proceeded
to eat off my plate. After picking on my fries, she popped my plate
into the microwave so I wouldn't know better. She brought it out to me, and it was cold,
as she took forever to eat from it. I was so grossed out.

IHOP Horrible situation

I ordered a steak omlette and when i had consumed about 1/4 of the omlette i discovered a small piece of hair in the omlette. I complained that there was hair in my food and the manager charge me half price because i didn't have hair in the pancakes that came with the omlette. And i had eatened 1/4 of the omlette. This is the I HOP in williamsburg Rochambeau. I was very upset and i felt like he was calling me a liar.I love the International House of pancakes and i have always had good experiences. I felt insulted and humiliated. I understand that it is easy for hair to accidently fall into anyones food. I just felt like he handled the situation horribly.

IHOP customer service

On November 26, 2009 my husband and I visited I HOP located at 360 Route 46, TOTOWA, NJ [protected] for breakfast. We were initially seated by a waiter who told us he will be with us shortly. We were waiting for 20 minutes and when the waiter arrived about twenty minutes later he just gave a glance on our table and never came forward to take our order and left. He did this for almost four times. As this was our first time we thought its their practice but we were shocked to find that all people who came after us got their food on the table. After waiting forty minutes or more we felt embarrassing and left the place where no waiter cared a damn to serve their customer. This is by far the worst service I have ever received and i wouldn't call this a service as the right word to describe is 'treatment'. I do not plan to visit IHOP again.

I noticed a phrase in the home page of IHOP... COME HUNGRY LEAVE HAPPY it would be apt if it is COME HUNGRY LEAVE INSULTED.

PS: There has been same complaint from few of my friends.

Had to wait for server # 20315 Audrey to come and check for our refill, and pancakes were cold, she said they took a while to cook as well as bacon being under cooked, my husband got ill from it.She was rude, and hovered when we asked to speak to a manger, and interrupted when speaking with the manager. I will not eat here again.

my grandson wife and I just left the mobile store #4490 It took over 45 min. to get served after taking around 15min. to take our order. when they serve our breafast the cheese was on top of the omelets the mushrooms were not cooked .The food was warm but very bland. Not a good experience.

i just got home from eating at an ihop restraunt in rockford illinois it was a horrible dining experience i had horrible service they couldnt get any of my order right burnt bacon, not to mention hair on both my bacon and pancakes gave both my son and i sausage when we both asked for all bacon no sausage my daughter in laws food arrived way after the rest of us got served we asked for two seperate bills they put all of it on one when at the register they said they would seperate it but didnt store manager had a big smirky grin on his face acting like it was funny on how we were treated both my waiter and the manager should be reprimanded for their lack of manners and poor customer service

On April 29, 2010 my family and I visited IHOP located at 360 Route 46, TOTOWA, NJ [protected] for dinner. at 9:00 pm
the manager was rude, bad educated person, bad attitude . my 2 year old baby accidentally wrote on the table with a washable crayon that they gave to him when we first arrived to the restaurant when the manager came with the food he started saying that we were destroying the restaurant, that we have to educate our baby, he said that he is the owner and he personally going to admit people to the restaurant. We just decided to leave the restaurant and the food on the table that he served when he started to scream at us. We do not plan to visit Ihop anymore.

IHOP charge for tea bag

We had breakfast at this I Hop restaurant yesterday, as we do once a month. Our beverage was hot tea. When we aksed for more hot water and tea bag we were told we would have to pay $1.99 for it--we already had that amount on our bill for the first cup which we could handle. However, $2.00 for ONE tea bag is ridiculous! You can buy a box of 48 tea bags at the store for $3.84 which equates to about $0.08 a bag. Why would you ever charge $2.00 to a customer having breakfast. In my mind you are missing the big picture here. This location was formerly a Village Inn, but closed for several months then I Hop took over. In this fragile economy it seems you would rather have good paying customers and make up the cost of a second cup of tea elsewhere. You can drink as much coffee as you want free.

IHOP horrible experiance

My name is patrick miller and my wife keri and I have given this IHOP several chances. The first time we ate there it was awful. We had been seated and are drinks wern't given to us until 20mins of being seated, the resturant was not busy at all there was only 3 tables total. The second experience the same basically happend but worse we're also were sat and forgot about for about 15-20mins. The third experience was horrible we were seated okay but we ordered the hashbr0wns and bacon and they were completely disgusting they tasted like they were sitting on the grill all nite, rubbery and unedible. We asked for more the waitress brought us the exact same type of unedible hashbrowns and bacon. We asked to speak to the manager and she brought us three more plates of the SAME exact food. We were very displeased for the 3rd time. Thats why we travil 30mins to the IHOP in the cloverleaf plaza in concord. They do not displease us, its awsome service everytime and everytime we go there we request beth's service or Roxane's service they do a fantastic job!They all do! The only reason we have gone to the IHOP in salisbury is because it's closer, but we WILL NOT go there again unless they change ALOT! You can contact me if willing at [protected]

IHOP extemely poor service

Our family just experienced the worst restaurant service we have ever had at iHOP today (8/7/08). We arrived at about 11:45 on Friday, waited over 30 minutes to be seated, over 15 minutes for a waitress to come to our table, and over another 30 minutes for our food to come.

At no time during the wait, did the manager come to talk to the customers about the delays. There were no forks at our table, so we had to get them ourselves.

Customers at over 4 other tables got tired of waiting and left the restaurant. The restraint was only about 1/2 to 3/4 full during our wait, and when we finally got our food was only about 1/4 full.

I finally asked to talked to the manager, and she stated that our food was coming and would only discount 2 meals.

It was my sister's birthday. and when the food came her order was not included, and she had to wait another 5 minutes, and then only 1/2 her order arrived. We were also most done eating when the rest of her order arrived.

Finally we got tired of waiting for the bill, and went to pay, and HAD TO WAIT for the manager to get the bill.

Again we and another family in front of us complained that this was the worst service we have ever experienced, and asked for the meal costs to be waved, but the manager would only discount 2 meals.

I asked to the manager to write her manager's name and her name on the receipt, but she only listed her name, and a number that did not go to iHOP.

I called iHOP via their web site contact us information, and was told the information would be sent to the franchise owner, and that there was no way to contact the franchise owner directly. Ticket #293248

While I dont know the real particulars of this paticular restaraunt, I would like you to consider other possibilities( not exuses by a long shot) for some of the problems you experienced. Illness, injury, poor scheduling may have left the kitchen or dining staff short handed and over worked and is one possibility. Fridays are typically busy and often orders are delivered fridays and teh restaraunt may have been trying to overcome a shortage, thus causing a delay also. While I cannot comment on the management or franchise failure to respond to your complaints, I can try to explain the staffs problems and tell you most kitchen and dining staffs care extremely about problems, as we realize you( the customer) are the single most important part of our job. Please give them another chance.

IHOP scam and lies

My ex-employer are bouneing check. i had 4 bounce checks.2 of them where takin care of and the other 2 are being missed handel.when i talked to my boss he said he im getting sick of all these bounce checkbut i will fix it. he said this in march, 2008 so 2 weeks later i asked him about the check he said he needs proof so i gave him the proof he said he will send a money order and i never got it. about 2weeks later i asked him about it he said the money order got lost. and he said i need proof of the bounce check. told him i gave it to you he told me that he had lost it and he needs more proof. know that was the only proof i had and i gave it to him cause i trusted him.and its been 3 month later and i still have not got any money for my ckeck. and with my last check was bonced for (nsf) so i called them and asked them what was going on and one of the managers told me that it was not his proplem and he hand up on me so i called back he picked up the phone and hung up again.

IHOP stay away

Waited 18 minutes just to be acknowledged. When waitress got our drink order we waited on our drinks another 9 minutes. Asked to speak to the manager"Kathy" and that did'nt get us anywhere. The store was'nt busy and the manager couldn't offer an explanation or an apology so we left and went somewhere else. Do not visit this restaurant!
