I have been with aol for over 25 years; and have been making comments on the chatline for all of those years. Apparently, aol never had a problem with me in all that time; but now, I have been banned from making any comments at all. I haven't changed. I'm the same good, decent person I was 25 years ago; only now I have some early stage dementia. I have no children; my 75 year old husband has bipolar disorder... And, I am in early stage dementia. I need to be engaged with others... So says my doctor. Aol was my lifeline; but for some unknown reason and with no warning, I was taken off the site that allows me to make comments on the news articles of the day. I need this, to help me stay sharp. My husband and I also pay for aol programs. Did I mention that he's a 26-yr military veteran who has been on aol for as long as i've been? Aol has always had the ability to 'remove' a comment they think is offensive. But more often than not, there is no rhyme or reason to their decisions. They had a guy on there saying nasty, disgusting things about women, and, using parts of dirty words referring to women, as his username; attempting to disguise it by using symbols above and below his name. And guess what? Aol missed it every time, so I had to remove his comments. That's not my job! Everyone here in america, and on aol has a right to voice their opinion; as long as it doesn't personally hurt the person they are chatting with; or name-calling. And, aol has a right to, and should remove any single comment that uses bad words, or name-calls someone but, to outright ban people without rhyme, or reason? I am a good, decent human being who deserves to have a voice. Again, I need this; to engage with other people. I have been a long, loyal loyal customer of aol, and this is how you treat me? I am begging for another chance. Please don't shut me out from the comments section on news stories of the day. Again, we all deserve to have our voices heard. Again, if aol thinks it's not a nice comment, all they have to do is delete that one comment... As opposed to permanently silencing people.

Desired outcome: I would like to get my voice back, and to PLEASE be reinstated and allowed to voice my opinion on the News Stories of the day. Please respond to my comment. Thank You.

You're not alone by any means. Not too long after Verizon had taken over AOL, the AOL news site had degenerated into an overly biased leftist news site in which the commentaries were heavily censored to the point of absolute absurdity. Even worse, AOL had banned me from their news commentaries for some two years now, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if there weren't any conservatives allowed to express their views on that news site. I mean, most or all of them were likely banned from their commentaries just like you and I were. With the possible exception of the Huffington Post, the AOL news site has since morphed into the most heavily biased and overly censored news site on the web. It is also filled to the gills with misinformation/disinformation and nonsensical leftist propaganda.

you will notice that by 2020 the division of Liberal comment section, aol and gop section Yahoo, began. they banned all people that speak on race, religion, guns, and lgbt issues from aol, and all that remains are people whom they figure are millennial and younger.

they want gen x and older on Yahoo.

so thats why we are blocked from commenting on aol... we say things that they feel are not the views of gen z, and thats what they want on aol. yahoo and aol are the same company.

If you pay AOL the 10$ a month STOP, you can still be on it for free.

AOL is about as unAmerican as an entity can be. They would have been much better suited to "promote" the news back in 1930's Germany.

The democratic party control and FBI and CIA is being rooted out of Twitter with the release of old texts showing the FBI is not only working at these social media outlets, but controlling what we can hear. Example, did you know Chuck Schumer's daughter is working for Facebook? Did you know FBI lawyers were ousted from Twitter? The same needs to be done to AOL, and other media outlets because only hearing negative news for GOP and only great news for democrats leads the gullible to vote democrat which is actually interference in elections. It needs to stop!

AOL has been using OpenWeb for comments for years and the reputation is terrible, the service is terrible, the bans are nonsensical and arbitrary and the newest format of commenting sucks.I gave up on it after years of use.Openweb I understand is foreign based and AOL will not stand by it's members after Openweb acts in some unfair way.

David, AOL doesn't give a diddly rats behind about what Americans think...they are pandering to foreign powers, that I...and probably you too despise. Notice logging onto this to comment? Asking which of about 90 countries we're from? We should NOT patronize them at all in any way and let those foreigners support them...would serve them right.

I've been with AOL so long that my email ends with netscape.net. They just have go back to the old way and give a warning and allow the commenter to change his comment.

AOL has become very leftist...I post well mannered, NO "bad words/language but conservative posts and they trash them...while I see stuff that is just despicable in blatantly unprovable/unlikely accusations of Conservatives go flying by...this is how freedom of speech is lost, when one side becomes so browbeaten that they ...DON'T EVEN COMPLAIN...OR...WORSE YET, ARE AFRAID TO COMPLAIN. People the Country we are losing...is our ...OWN.

I won’t buy anything AOL advertises until it become neutral. In fact I purposefully won’t buy anything from AOL advertisers until the AOL community feels AOL has matured from it’s woke, politically correct, anti-American bias. I get enough leftist propaganda bias in newspapers and television every day. I don’t need leftist, woke, politically correct bias when I am just trying to read my emails.

AOL has restricted me from being able to comment on their commentaries. I am a Conservative and have respectfully replied to Liberal rhetoric, and that got me banned for life apparently. Rather than actually reading what I wrote, AOL apparently keyed in on "offensive" words. I believe what got me banned is a conversation where folks were encouraging the silencing and dismissal of some political figure, and I simply said that people really ought to wait for the facts to come out before dragging this guy before the "firing squad," and that apparently got me banned. I believe AOL's electronic censoring picked up the words "firing squad" and banned me without actually reading the content. I respectfully request that AOL reinstate my ability to comment. My husband and I have been AOL subscribers for over 25 years. My husband is a retired military officer, who served this country honorably for 26 years, has served in combat, and certainly does not deserve, or appreciate, having his wife silenced in the country he served. Thank you.

They have been awful. They are only serving the liberal agenda, and blocking truth. They won't allow me to say many things, as I am a Republican. They should not have the freedom to block free speech, as they are only serving the left. It is totally dishonest and decietful.

Know your story well...they are nothing but a leftie mouthpiece and only permit the most ineffective replies to the leftist broadsides...we have got to find a way to hit 'em hard legally ...if we who bet our lives on the US in uniform don't give them a ration of their own medicine somehow, we're dead as a free Republic. Thank your husband for his Service! And ...thank YOU, ...it is NOT EASY for the wives left doing everything for the family...and ...wondering...
