Sportsman's Warehouse Poor customer experience.

I bought a $3 part expecting it would be delivered to my home. But it was delivered to a store that require over an 8 hour drive to retrieve. My bad. But the issue is they didn’t offer something reasonable like shipping it to me for the cost of shipping… no they opted for “customer changed mind”. No I didn’t. I want the part so I bought elsewhere. Yes they refunded the cost. But they have no clue about customer support. Made my list of places not to shop.

Recommendation: If online, shop elsewhere.

Sportsman's Warehouse Purchase a Henry Big Boy Rifle

I purchased a New Henry Big Boy Rifle from Sportsman's Warehouse on January 27, 2024. They shipped me a severely damaged, used Rifle instead of a new rifle.

I wrote to customer service at Sportsman's Warehouse three times. They refused to answer me. I sent 5 pictures of the damage on the rifle and asked for either a new rifle or a refund. They would not answer me.

I posted a review at their website, describing the problem, they refused to publish the review.

Claimed loss: $1,000 paid for a new Henry Rifle

Desired outcome: A new Henry Rifle, or a refund.

I bought a Camp Chef stove (Pro 60X) from the Sportsman Warehouse stores in Federal Way, WA. Just 20 days later the stove literally caught on fire. Situation was very dangerous. Our house could have caught on fire and significant injuries could have resulted. I called the store, explained the situation and asked that I would like to return this product...

Hi, my name is Marty. I have purchased 3 other firearms and yesterday (11/6/23) was the fourth purchased at store #258, also other goods along the way. I was looking for the Howa 6.5 creedmore bolt action 1500 Hogue, same as described above. Checking around I was quoted $569.00 list price at two other gun stores in my neighborhood, but it would not be...

Sportsman's Warehouse Rifle purchase

Went in on Friday to buy my first nice rifle. Had to wait about 25 minutes to get waited on. Once waited on I looked at three different rifles and settled on a Weatherby . I tried to buy it but the countr was busy and clerk told me to order on line since he didn’t have time to go look. I live about 30 miles from the store. On Sunday I ordered on line. Got the confirmation on Sunday afternoon. Went in Monday to pick up. They told me my wife had to pick it up since her name as on the credit card. She went in Tuesday and they wouldn’t give it to her since I was going o use it. We both went back Wednesday and the firearms manager apologized. I spoke to the manger but he was no help. Ai had my scope installed and the manger said he bore sighted it. I wasted a half a box of shells as the base was not installed correctly.

Desired outcome: Want some kind on reiburmemt for time travel and shells used

Sportsman's Warehouse Online orders

Tried buying an item on sale. The order was automatically cancelled for no obvious reason. Normally I might try reordering but the sale was already over.

I reached out to customer support who advised that a "verification team" would contact me within 48 hours. Nobody ever did. I contacted customer support again who gave me the same message. A day later I get an email saying that I can't place online orders with Sportsmans and they will only let me buy items in store! No reason given.

Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend spending your money here. I won't be doing so any more. I've bought plenty of things from them online before - with the same email address, credit card, address... so not sure what's gone wrong in their company but it doesn't look good. This is Walmart tier customer service.

Sportsman's Warehouse Online order process

I placed an online order and received notice that it was cancelled. The email prompted me to contact customer service. The agent could not tell me why the order was cancelled, what I could do to fix this, whether my card would be charged, or whether I would receive this item. I'll have no idea whether the order will process until their "verification team" reaches out to me in 48 hours. I can't contact the verification team directly, since they apparently don't have a direct contact line or email address. I just have to wait around and hope that someone remembers to contact me. Meanwhile, there's a pending charge on my card and I don't know if I should buy this thing elsewhere or not. I have an upcoming trip and the item was originally supposed to arrive ahead of that. Now...there's no way. This company's reviews are atrocious, so I don't think I'll be able to get a refund if I do order elsewhere and need to cancel. I have no idea what the best course of action is, and their customer service gave me absolutely zero assistance. Just awful.

Desired outcome: Ship my item with the original delivery date or let me know for sure that the charge is cancelled so I can purchase elsewhere.

Sportsman's Warehouse Gun counter service

Store Location:
9401 SE 82nd Ave
Portland, OR 97086
United States
Date of Incident:
4/8/23
Estimated Time of Incident:
3pm ish
Department(s) (Hunting, Fishing, Customer Service, Gun Counter, etc):
Gun Counter
Employee Name(s): (if available)
Kevin, said he was the gun counter manager.

Incident Overview:

I have purchased a firearm from this location previously. My fiancé and I went in to look at two different handguns we were interested in over the weekend. The one I didn’t like as much, my fiancé planned to purchase. There were only 2 individuals ahead of us when we arrived. A 3rd was allowed to cut in front of us stating he had an appointment he’d missed hours ago. They allowed the customer to cut in line with the knowledge that other customers (including my fiancé and I had been waiting for over 30 minutes) all because he decided to show up late and complain, no apology to any of us for extending our wait in line. Finally our number is called (again without any previous acknowledgement or apologies for the long wait) the attendant was short with us and demanded my ID. I witnessed the same ID request was not as aggressive with any of the previous MALE customers who had been waiting in line. After supplying the attendant with my information I was told (again without any kind of apology or explanation) that my ID was insufficient for a background application. This was the exact same ID information I had provided previously to obtain my firearm from Sportsman’s without any issue at all. The attendant (after speaking with another employee) then said he needed to get his manager’s approval. After leaving us at the counter for a few minutes the attendant returned with manager, Keven, who already came out with a massive attitude directed specifically at me. No explanation or deescalation utilized to explain the situation or the reason why my ID was no longer acceptable or to defuse the situation at all. We were obviously frustrated at this point due to the long wait (an hour at that point), terrible service and attitude Keven decided to come out with. When my fiancé stated he would come back the next day to apply for his own handgun Keven forcefully stated he would refuse to sell my fiancé a firearm since my ID was not accepted. What?!?!? I replied that we were BOTH looking at a handgun, and my fiancé had the right to apply for and purchase whatever he wanted, Keven then said,” You know what, we don’t want either of you back here” and told us to leave. I was stunned! NO customer service. NO reasoning behind changed or updated ID laws. NO apologies for their abysmal wait times. I’ve been in customer service long enough to know Keven should not be in management without additional training. He made me feel like I was not worth his time and discriminated against as a woman looking to purchase a firearm for my safety as his dealings with me felt derogatory and belittling. The way I was dealt with was in complete opposition to any of the engagements with male customers ahead of me. How is this even remotely acceptable for your leaders to behave this way?!?

Desired outcome: A written apology. Discrimination against ANYONE is completely unacceptable! The fact that Keven felt his behavior was acceptable is outrageous! I’m not looking for any kind of discounts, or freebies, I want corrective action.

Sportsman's Warehouse Customer service

I went into A Sportsman's Warehouse located at 701 Marks Street, Henderson Nevada 89014. The date and time was 041423 at 4:34pm. I purchased 6 items with cash. The salesperson was a middle-aged white female. She asked me about applying for a credit card which I declined. She charged me for the purchase and put my items in a bag along with my receipt. She then produced a laptop device asking me to rate the experience. I checked the "terrific" box. This was a decision I would later regret. I drove home and discovered that she didn't put an item in my bag valued at $9.99. I called immediately and a woman answered. She found the item at the register. I assume it was behind the counter. I drove back to the store to retrieve it. A girl gave me my item and mentioned it was the manager who made the mistake. I was never given an apology or compensated for a waste of my time and gas. This should not have occurred. It was not busy. Nobody else was in line. If this is the service that I will receive from your company just tell me. I will accept that. If so, I suggest that you put in self-checkout machines like Home Depot and Walmart. That way I will be responsible for my own payment and bagging. Eugene Engle. Customer ID [protected].

Desired outcome: How about giving me a gift card for wasted gas. It was about a 20-mile round trip.

Sportsman's Warehouse Negligence by management

Accident occurred November 20th 2020

Forced to use a machine that is not rated and unsafe for the department.

Forced off the rated machine for that area.

Its rated for the area due to enclosure around body, steel top to protect from falling heavy product that is on racks 5 levels high requiring employees to go under steel racks that contain variety of product. Heavy products . Trailer beds with axles, bullets, loaded on top racks people fallen product daily . Hence the steel enclosed for protection... common sense ... so obvious...

Forced after knowing I was not okay with using the electric pallet jack they wanted to use to get more product picked.. after asking my opinion how to move product as fast as I was ...

My conclusion was that the rated machine is the only way to move this product . Due to safety and it was obvious it was a very very risky choice.

Even after all that . I was given a direct order to get off the the machine that obviously is the only machine for the job . To get on a machine that i was certain was only going to result in a certain crushing injury or death... that even being said that I was terrified and 100 percent certain that there was going to be an I jury or a death they still FORCED ME WITHA DIRECT ORDER . THREATING MY JOB PRETTY MUCH. ..

So the very next day after being forced again knowing I was terrified for my safety . After my second break another forklift ran into me and the unprotected machine I was on exposing my whole body . The blades where lifted with a pallet on it . Collided into my right foot having the blade of forklift enter my right foot and crushing my ankle...

Very next day after my surgery attempting to save my ankle ,foot . SPORTSMANS WAREHOUSE was calling telling me to resign.. " so I can concentrate on healing and we maybe will hire you back .." WHAT ! ? No I will not ... so on workers comp . Find out a year later after many surgeries after .I Find out they FIRED ME PEOPLE... I didn't even know. I have doctors notices saying I cant walk...

Well now in March 2023 I have had to get an amputation its been very hard, and a very sad thing ,and I'm baby hanging in there..

My personal , workers rights have been violated with not one sense of liability, empathy, responsibility.

So I'm waiting to see how SPORTSMAN'S WAREHOUSE HANDLES THIS

WRONG IS WRONG RIGHT IS RIGHT SIMPLE E.PATHY AND LAYTY IS OUT THE WIMDOW IN AMERICA THESE DAYS . THE ONLY WAY WE WILL MAKE THE WORKER FORCE BETTER AND APPRECIATED IN AMERICA.

WE HAVE RIGHTS AND THEY ARE NOT HONORI G THEM DUE TO FASTER AND FASTER REQUESTS UNTIL IT DONT EVEN MATTER WHEN LIVES ARE AT RISK EVERY DAY. NOW I AM A AMPUTEE IN MY FORTIES AND HAVE A BIG FAMILY THAT RELY ON SOLELY ME.

SPORTSMAN'S HOW ARE YOU GOING TO FIX WHAT WAS CAUSED BY YOU ! .

YOU PRIDE YOURSELF TO BE FAMILY ORIENTED COMPANY ,LOYAL TO YOUR EMPLOYEES..

PLEASE SHOW THE WORLD THAT YOU WONT LET THAT 100 PERC3NT NEIENCE STAND . AND STAND FOR YOUR EMPLOYEES. DAM I MEAN I THOUGHT I WAS CONSIDER A "HERO BEING A ESSENTIAL WORKER"... WITHOUT A SAY . "FORCED" SO WHY ALL THIS IM AS LOYAL AS THEY COME.

I SURE HOPE SPORTSMAN'S WAREHOUSE WILL SHOW THE SAME LOYALTY ..

HELL PEOPLE WERE DIEING TO WORK FOR SPORTSMAN'S DURING COVID !

SO WHAT ARE YOU GOI G TO DO NOW ? YOU CAN NEVER EVER GET MY LEG 🦵 😤 BACK TO ME . MY HAPPINESS, HEALTH, PEACE.. WHAT AM I TO DO FOR MY CHILDREN ,MY WIFE ?

I GUESS WE WILL SEE STAY TUNED ...

Sportsman's Warehouse Management

There’s a lot to say about this store that I don’t even know where to start. But I’ll start with the store manager. The store manager (Kelly) doesn’t seem to do anything to help his employees. I have visited the hunting department MULTIPLE TIMES, hoping to purchase a firearm. However, every time I get there, it’s busy! The gun counter always seems to have either two or one person working. I’ve had experienced working in a gun store, and in my experience it was against store policy to leave one person behind the gun counter. The employees look over worked and underpaid. I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with a couple of the employees there. Brian the lead was super helpful and very knowledgeable. He knows a lot about guns, EVEN MORE THAN THE NEW MANAGER and the new ASSISTANT MANAGER! Looks like the store manager doesn’t know what he’s doing ! Adam (the previous associate manager) was also super helpful and knowledgeable. I wonder why he left… Before Adam left the store, I did have the pleasure of getting to know him a little. He explained to me how they would ask adjoining departments for help, especially the managers, but they would ignore them ! Every time I go in to purchase amo or gun parts, I’ve noticed the adjoining managers from the other departments, standing around gossiping instead of helping out the employees behind the gun counter. This is a sorry [censored] company that doesn’t even know how to value their employees. I’ve been visiting this store for about two years now and Brian , the lead, is still in the same position. He deserves to be manager! He’s super knowledgeable compared to the new female manager. I’ve overheard a couple of her conversations with customers and it seems like she has NO IDEA WHAT SHES DOING ! And SHES SUPPOSE TO BE MANAGER ! This is a sorry [censored] excuse for a company! I wouldn’t be surprised if they get sued by a previous employee. Somebody from HR needs to go in and do an evaluation on each individual employee behind the gun counter, because not everyone should be selling guns. You guys need more KNOWLEDGEABLE AND RESPONSIBLE EMPLOYEES!. Brian the lead from the hunting department, deserves a better position due to how knowledgeable he is. This is a sorry excuse for a company and the store manager doesn’t know how to treat his employees. All the managers are lazy and don’t seem to help their employees. All I hear when I go in, is gossip. Looks like everyone gossips about each other, especially the managers. The managers seem to gossip about their own employees, which should be illegal since it could be considered harassment in the work place.

Desired outcome: Investigation for management, especially store manager. All the managers are shady and mistreat their employees.

Sportsman's Warehouse Confused from top to bottom

We placed an order for pick up. They said walkie-talkie we wanted would have to be sent to the store at a later date and no stores had them. We picked up our order and found out the store had about 50 pairs of the walkie-talkies and we wanted to pick them up there. Well, the main headquarters contacted us and said they did not have the walkie-talkies in stock. We asked the store if we could just pick them up at the store. The said no. I couldn’t believe it.

What a ridiculous response. They told us to just purchase them that day and they would credit our credit card. Well these idiots did not do that, instead they gave us a gift certificate. After many frustrating phone conversations and them passing the buck from headquarters to store we just called the credit card company.

NEVER WILL WE EVER BUY FROM THIS CORPORATION AGAIN.

MIND YOU, THESE WALKIE-TALKIES WERE ONLY $25!

Desired outcome: Credit of $25 on our credit card as said

Sportsman's Warehouse Delivery/ customer service

You get nothing on time when it says you will, they boast shopping to get “before” Christmas when you certainly do NOT! When you reach out to customer service they are rude and unhelpful and constantly just say how you are wrong and basically that they do not care. Worst place to shop in my opinion and I have heard several of the same complaints from others.

Sportsman's Warehouse Manager and cashier on duty

I went into sportsmans warehouse today, November 18th 2022 at 10 am to buy some boots. I found what I was looking for and proceeded to the checkout where a short spikey gray haired woman was at a checkstand. I asked if she was open and she answered in one word extremely rudely, 'NO'. Then she answered a phone call that was coming in. I waited patiently for her to get off the phone and let me know what checkstand was open. I heard her being extremely rude to the customer on the phone so I just patiently waited and didn't interupt. She hung up the phone and walked to the customer service desk and proceeded to help 2 customers that had come into the line after me. She completely ignored me for some reason. When she finally helped me check out, she continued to be very rude to me. At this point I had had enough and asked for a manager to talk to. She called the manager up, a young lady in her late 20's I'd say. The manager and her laughed in my face out loud about the situation and made fun of it and me right in front of the other customers. This has been the worst experience an any store I have ever been in, in my entire life! I couldn't believe what was happening and couldn't understand why they were acting in such an unproffesional manner. It was the strangest experience in the customer service industry I've ever witnessed. I can't believe these are the kind of people you hire to run your stores. I am very unhappy about this. I will never spend another penny at this store again in my life and neither will my family and friends.

Desired outcome: Both of these employees need to lose their jobs. This was absolutely crazy and inexcusable. They should not be allowed to work in the customer service industry. They are giving Sportsman's Warehouse a really bad name.

Sportsman's Warehouse Pricing that was posted and not honoring that price

These are the lacrosse women’s alpha range boots which are in the right spot and as you can see by the SKUs and everything else on their label it has not been moved around as the manager, James, claimed was probably the issue. We got to the register asked if they price matched, cashier said yes. We found the exact pair online at Schells for 139.95. The cashier said yes so she called up a manager to do the override on the price. The boot rang up for 169.95 when it is posted on the wall at 149.95. I stated, it doesn’t really matter if you’re overriding to price match, but you might want to correct your signage. James, the manager, said it’s not the wrong price, they are 169.99 and now he is not going to price match. When it was shown to him that it is not in the wrong place the tag just says $149.95, the manager, James, then claimed well there’s price changes and everything so no I’m not gonna honor that price. I reminded the manager of weights and measures and the fact that if they failed to change their pricing on the product and on the signage on the wall they need to honor that price. He stated no I don’t very rudely, put the boots in the back room and walked away. I let him know I would be contacting corporate because that is bad business practice and he said “that’s fine i am corporate.”

I will be contacting the corporate office and hopefully this company intends on making this right.

Desired outcome: I would like to be contacted by corporate.

Sportsman's Warehouse Explore Rewards Credit Card

Today 10-8-22 I got a call from the bank Sportsman's credit cards are with.

The very rude woman told me that i had a missed payment and late fees?

So, I went to my records, and this is how the conversation went-

Me; "No, I paid that on September 2nd"

Rude Lady: "That was for August"

Me: "What happened to August's payment?"

Rude Lady: "We received it, so in August you paid $175.00"

Me; "What? I made a $100.00 payment in August & $75.00 payment in September"

Rude Lady: "The payment you made was in the August cycle- If you had made the payment on the 3rd instead of the 2nd it would have been in September cycle. So now you missed a payment and owe a late fee"

Me: "So, just because it was PAID SEPTEMBER 2nd, you COMBINED 2 SEPARATE PAYMENTS, MADE IN TWO SEPARATE MONTHS, you are charging me late fees AND counting this as a MISSED payment?"

Rude Lady: 'Yes, because you didn't do your job right"

Me: "I made my payments based on my paydays, and they WERE made during two separate months, and should be counted as such"

Rude Lady: "You didn't make the payment at the right time, you owe late fees, that's why we are calling you"

Me; CLICK!

DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY!

FIND A CARD THAT TREATS YOU FAIRLY AND DISTRIBUTES YOUR FUNDS CORRECTLY-

EXPLORE REWARDS AND THEY'RE BANK WILL STICK A KNIFE IN YOUR BACK, AND SCREW YOU OUT OF YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY!

Desired outcome: Fix this - I made my payments!!

Sportsman's Warehouse General shopping

I came into the store in columbia s.c. and was immediately accosted by employees. When I told them I was just browsing they looked at me like I was a thief and immediately went to the front and got on the overhead speaker and said for security to scan the section I was in. Everyone in the store then looked at me like I was a damn criminal when all I wanted to do was look in peace. I will never go back to that store and spend my hard earned money to be followed around and looked down on and publicly spoken to and pointed out over the loud speaker like I was a criminal I am extremely disappointed and pissed off. And to make things worse I had my children with me as well and had them asking questions. To say I was embarrassed is an understatement. I will never go in that store again and given the opportunity I will tell everyone I know about the horrible service and to go somewhere else to spend their money.

Sportsman's Warehouse Services at vanderbiljpark branch

We went to sportsman's warehouse to buy hockey shoes for my child. The shop assistant ask me when we came in of I need help. I indicated to her that we will first look and then tell call her. She walk all over the shop behind us not giving us space to look around. We felt like criminals that will be steeling something. I ask her again to give as some space we will call her for assistance. Then she went and call another shop assistant that did the same.

Me and my daughter left the shop without buying anything.

Your staff is incompetent to serve the public. They are not having a clue how to work with the public. They did the same with other customers that was looking for running shoes.

When someone goes to a shop they like looking around, maybe they see something else that they will buy, but with sales men and women like that people rather just want to get out of the shop because you are been irritated the whole time from entering in the shop till you leave.

I will rather go and buy at another place.

I already buy my running shoes at Total sports because the service is better. Now I know why.

Desired outcome: Please talk to your staff not to walk behind clients the whole time.Teach them customer services

Sportsman's Warehouse Gender Discrimination

I have been denied my 2nd amendment right to bear arms. I was mistakenly added to your list and have been denied to purchase a gun from only your company, every other company allows me to purchase a firearm. My husband received a false denial to purchase the home defense shotgun that I wanted for Christmas. After finding this out, I went online and bought the shotgun myself and when I went to the Federal Way store, the manager said he would not sell me the gun. I went to another store and bought it for myself. My husband appealed the denial and has been cleared by the FBI with his finger prints and we have the letter that he is allowed to purchase and own firearms. We went back to Sportman’s and they said we are both permanently denied from ever purchasing another firearm from your company and that is not right. We are law abiding citizens and have never been in any trouble in our lives. Our names need to be removed from your straw purchase list as that was not the case and both of us have purchased several guns from your store in the past 2 years.

Desired outcome: My husband and I have been through enough with being wrongfully denied and I purchase a firearm and now that his name is cleared and it was a mistake we need your company to remove our names from your gun denial list ASAP.
