Specsavers Optical Group review: failure to make appointment with opthalmologist as they promised.

I went into Specsavers in Dec 2019 to change my scratched prescription glasses, and was given a full eyes test.
I was told that I had bad cataracts and so would need an operation to fit lenses in my pupils.
The woman that did my test said there were two doctors in knysna she recommended, and we chose one.
She said he was on leave then, but to leave it in her hands, she would contact him in the New Year, make an appointment, and I would be contacted by the doctor.She was also to check at my wish, whether my medical aid would cover the initial consultancy and subsequent operations.
After hearing nothing by mid January, I went int Specsavers to query progress, but was told by the receptiionist the relevant woman was out but she would speak to her about me and find out what was going on, so things could be started moving.
Again, after 3 weeks, after hearing nothing, I went in, was not recognised by the receptionist and had to repeat everything again.
This time a man came out of his office and got involved in the discussion, saying that it was my responsibility to have made the appointment, and get authorisation from my medical aid, totally contradicting what I was told by the testing optician in December.
In other words, nothing I was told in December was true, or took place, wasting my time when I need new glasses, and possibly eye operations.The impression I got was they only wanted my money for the testing.
The service there was abysmal and unprofessional.
Regrettably I am tied to them as they have been paid by my medical aid, and I would have to pay out of pocket for a test elsewhere.
