Having been Sky customers for many years and avid Golf viewers, why do we now have to endure Alison Whitaker an opinionated woman with a terrible loud Grating voice/accent that makes my wife an I look for the mute button! Her grammar is awful and she continually introduces booming interferences of Sky's excellent commentators. How do people as bad as her manage to find their way on to a Sky platform?
Please replace her ASAP.

I agree completely regarding Alison Whitaker's golf commentaries..she is so irritating and constantly trying to better the men but she was no match for the brilliant Jay Townsend last week. I will also say that the male commentators are very tame when with Whitaker and where is Jay Townsend for the Scottish Open
Yes I’m sorry, I must agree with most comments on here…after consideration I make this observation….
I believe she feels like she must keep talking to add to the broadcast, but reality is, keep it short and sharp, let every middle aged male golfer watching get used to your voice and you may stand a chance……!? Less is more…
The way she currently goes about it does make me want to use the mute button. Which is a shame as I feel the European broadcast is generally the best in the world! Cheers

Absolutely agree. She is dreadful and hogs the commentary box. I’ve never heard of her prior to her being part of the commentary team. Not only does she grate but she also adds nothing whatsoever to the pictures.

I agree with the thread title. Alison Whitaker talks far too much, has an irksome tone and does not add much value to the pictures. She lessens the generally pleasant experience of watching and listening to Sky Sports golf. If TV companies could monitor the use of home mute buttons, they might see heavy usage of such once Ms Whitaker takes her turn in the commentator's box. Holding a reasonable and reasoned view does not equate to bigotry. The mass labelling of people who disagree with you (as per the above poster) certainly does.
Having listened to Alison Nicholas commentating at the Zozo golf in Japan I'm still waiting for the ' awful grammar' alleged by P & M Murphy.
Maybe you prefer her to start every sentence with 'so', throw in a 'double negative' every second sentence, confuse her'tenses' and end every comment with 'as well' ?
Let's face it, the English have worse grammar than most English speaking countries!
Whether you think she is 'loud' or 'opinionated' or 'talks too much' is personal choice.
We all have our favourites & those we prefer to 'mute' out!

We are trying to watch the Solheim Cup, and the cover is being` Ruined `by this Allison Whitaker, why do we have to listen to her terrible Australian voice? very poor commentry, frequently not on what we want to hear but on just what she wants to blab about, bragging about her personal acces to the golfers, god help the poor golfers. Much of it seems personal information that she should not be airing. We are not paying for a third rate service, so will Sky please remove this irritating person and replace her with one of the other excelent commentators Sky use! While you are at it, remove the American male commentator covering the Italian Open who is nearly as bad as Whitaker! Continuingly interupting the other commentators and trying to take control of the programme. Rubish Commentators, do Sky MKanagement read these complaints, they are the tip of an Iceberg!

Please PLEASE tell Ms. Whitaker to stop constantly talking! I wish her only the best on this planet but she is a terrible golf commentator.
It's such a shame for the sport. She's making it so tough for us to just relax and enjoy the golf. So loud and irritating. Someone needs to teach her less is better when it comes to golf commentary. Maybe give her the hosting role back in the studio, but please not the commentary box.
I need to reply to you even though I saw your comment a fair bit ago... While I agree regarding Allison Whittaker I beg to differ greatly on the excellent commentry skills of Jay Townsend.. the man is a genius & knows the game inside out & believe me he shows up Ms Whittaker which is what we want to move her to pastures new. It shouldn't matter whether Ms Whittaker is an Aussie or Jay is an American, the thread here is how good or indeed how bad is Ms Whittaker when commentating on male golf. Good day to you
I find her very pleasant and easy … not like the bloody yanks and their “ great shot right there” I mean seriously .She fits in very well with the other Euro commentary team who do a superb job compared to the US commentators .
She is shocking and her opinions are not based on life knowledge. Just a chancer.

Omg. She's doing 4 hour + stints dominating the commentary like no one ever before this British Open. She won't stop talking. Her levels are erratic. We've all tried muting the telecast but we need the crowd noise and ambience. Surely the telecaat team can see how irritating her commentary is for the viewers. Ratings are heading south 😪

Please, please get a replacement for this woman. I am sure that she is very nice but totally unsuitable for commentating the golf tournaments. She never shuts up and comes up with a lot of drivel and has the most irritating voice. My mute button is worn out!
Have to agree with the negative comments, she’s horrendous. Virtually everything she talks about is what the viewer is seeing with their eyes.
I’m a former broadcast journalist and the art of good commentary is adding value to what the viewer sees by adding to that.
Alternatively she just trumpet stats, Cam Smith currently no.1ranked Aussie golfer, Terrell Hayton currently no.1 ranked English golfer.
This isn’t woman bashing either, Karen Stupples is on course at the open is awesome, she adds value.

Totally agree. I'm sure she's a lovely girl and she certainly has golfing knowledge, but she needs to learn to let the golf do the talking. Take a breather. We don't need to hear every little detail about every player while they're hitting. We want to hear the crisp sound of the ball on the club, or the murmor of the crowd. Her levels are also extremely offensive as is her regular emphasis on the wrong words within sentences. My whole extended family have to switch off when she's in the box.
Again I beg you please get Alison Whitaker off the air so I can watch European golf without having my finger on the mute button. I just want to listen to the dulcet tones of British commentators.
She never stops talking in a grating, irritating high pitched loud voice, more suited to foot brawl commentating! When not stating the obvious, she indulges in irrelevant chatter.
The same style of commentating applies to Ian Baker-Finch who should be removed from the USA commentating team before my mute button completely dies.

I totally agree with the negative comments about Alison Whitaker . She is an appalling awful golf commentator and should be taken off the air immediately. I want to be able watch golf again without having my finger on the mute button. Her voice is irritating, her comments are both irrelevant and pretentious and she never stops talking - she has a severe case of verbal diarrhoea. I am an Australian female for the record.

Dear oh dear in this day and age you very bigoted people can't make remarks like this. Alison is a breath of fresh air on SKY. The simple answer is swith off and do everyone a favour and come into the 21st century because clearly you have nothing worth saying
Totally agree with the comments about Alison Whitaker she doesn’t sit well with me and my partner Chris former Captain of his club & very keen golfer I believe she got the job merely because she’s a woman which appears to be a running theme at present which is unacceptable we pay a great deal in Sky subscriptions therefore the customer deserves the best! And unfortunately Alison is not it.
