It's taken me 1 week to gather up the strength to write a complaint, just the thought of having to re-live this experience makes me physically ill. You would've thought after a horrible experience in the Beacon location a year or so back when they charged me for a new tire and sent me on my way with the same tire that was damaged, i'd steer clear from this company. But i didn't.. I went to the Mavis in New Windsor NY on Thursday 09/21/2023 in the morning requesting an inspection. I specifically stated to the guy at the front desk that my check engine light was on and the left blinker kept going on and off. It would work sometimes and then stop. He acknowledged what i said and i left. A few hours later, early afternoon i received a call from the mechanic manager stating my front brakes and rotors needed replacing, that they were 'metal to metal' I asked him how much that would cost, he said in between $700-800, he heard my hesitance and he said he would add an employee discount so i said okay. I asked is that what is affecting my check engine light, he said no thats a different story and since he has the car up in the air he'll replace my brakes and it should just be a belt or something simple to fix for the check engine light, i said okay again and reminded him about the blinker that keeps malfunctioning, he said it could've be the last mechanic didn't change his gloves and it could have a smear on it which can cause the blinker to malfunction. He said he changes his gloves and it should be fixed.. I said okay and we hung up. Hours go by and i call back in the evening as i know they were going to close soon. The guy at the front who answered the phone said he's been trying to call but must've had a wrong number. He said my car has been done and ready to be picked up. I said "okay, so all went okay with the inspection and everything?" He said" Well i was handed the paperwork so i'm going to say yes" I asked what the total was, he says $1009.00. I asked him why that much i was told something much lower, he said not to worry about it that he would give his "employee discount" Whatever that means at this point. I was willing to pay that much under the facts that i was told that my car was fixed and inspected. I get to the Mavis store, I was charged $1009.66, signed for it and was handed my keys. Not 1 person communicated anything to me at all. I get outside to my car and see that my old inspection sticker is still on and my blinker is still not working. I go back inside while the front desk guy is now busy and directs me to the auto manager.. I told them nothing was done, they then all looked around senseless, pretty much careless. I said the only thing that was done was brakes and rotors, something i didnt even ask for. That i just spent over $1000 for brakes and rotors.. Nothing else.. And they werre ready to send me on my way. Not saying 1 word about any of it..Manger walked away seeming like he was looking for something, an employee brought my car back in, i waited for a while, he comes out saying they now changed the blinker and my car wont pass inspection due to a CAT problem and could possibly need an O2 sensor, that they currently didn't have. Already exhausted and in disbelief that this amount of unprofessionalism was really taking place. I asked if i could leave the car overnight and they can order the o2 sensor and work on it in the morning. They agreed and I left. The next day Friday 09/22, i received a call from a lady saying she was the manager. She told me that they can do the work that was needed and it would be another $1000, i told her i simply cannot afford that as i just paid $1000 yesterday. She said she understood my concerns and how much could i afford i said maybe $600, she said she'll use her "employee discount" and i can pay $580. I stated " so if i consent you can guarantee this will definitely be done and fixed. She said yes. She said it would be done sometime later that day. I thanked her and hung up. As i started trying to get my finances together to be able to pay another $580 it was determined i could only afford $500. I called her back and she seemed like she was getting annoyed that i was calling back. i do understand the customer service field and she really was just pulled into the middle of this, however as a manager she should work on that. I told her my situation and she said she couldnt go down to$500, she could do $530-540 the most. I said okay, ill make it work. She said the'y're still working and it will be done later. Hours go by, it's almost close to closing so i call again, she now says she was trying to text and call me..I did not receive any calls or texts at all.. She says they can not do it, first she says it would be too expensive then says it needed welding and they do not weld. After she stated it was certain they were able to do it earlier that morning. I said well i would have more money if i wasnt charged $1000 for brakes and rotors, something i didnt even mention at all. She then says 'well i was under the impression you needed those to pass the safety inspection.' I truly believe that is a cover up for her employee. If they were going through the safety requirements for the inspection, why were they about to have me leave with the same broken blinker? Didn't check anything. Simply Careless. She says she'll refer me to a mechanic and that she's trying to save me money.. I'm petty much done at this point, i feel lied to and cheated. I said i'll come pick up my car, she says they're closing soon, at 6pm, good thing i called as it was 5:40pm. I asked her to leave the keys in the car as i wont make it to them in time. She says okay and hangs up. I get the car and the receipts are in the car as well. When i get home and actually look at the papers they charged me for windshield wipers that i did not consent to, (and they didnt even fill up windshield wiper fluid) On the papers it says" customer states check wipers" i most certainly did not. It says" customer asked to check brake and rotors" again i did not ask. I dont know if thats an automatic electronic system issue but it's not accurate at all. All of the charges on this receipt do not even add up to $1009.66. So i am very confused and concerned. I then take my car to mechanic the very next day Saturday the 23rd of September, immediately when he puts the car up he asks "has someone been looking around in here?" I reply yes it was at Mavis yesterday, he stated that they left the o2 sensor unplugged.. I'm not very knowledgeable in this field so i dont know how dangerous that is but to be that careless about people and their cars is truly unbelievable and disheartening. There is so much that is wrong in this experience and scenario and i feel scammed for that amount of money. It seems these Mavis employees dont even have training in any area. They take advantage of woman/people like myself who are not familiar with cars and talk them into work that is not needed to gain the labor charges. Even if i did need the brakes and rotors, their words are tarnished, not trust worthy at all, not reliable and looking at Mavis reviews i don't even see how they're still legally able to operate a business. They're more like salesman than mechanics.

Desired outcome: I am requesting a complete or partial refund. Any human can see this situation was not handled respectfully or professionally.
