Food Basics Missing items when I arrived home

Missing items when I arrived home. I would like to see the CCTV footage of november 7/22 at the cashier and possibly the parking lot.

There is a possibilty that someone on the otherside of the conveyour belt may have taken or someone just after me may have taken something as I was distracted locating payment in my purse.

It may have happened in the parking lot. I would like to see footage

Desired outcome: I would be very gratefull if the missing items were replaced as I am a low income senior on a fixed budget. Your understanding and compassion in this matter will be grately appreciated.

Food Basics Selection Frozen Entrees (Macaroni and Beef)

This bug was found in a macaroni and beef entrée purchased at food Basics in Oshawa, ON on November 6th 2022. My husband made it tonight November 8th. BBD 2023 SE 22 EST#305. My husband was physically ill after finding this in his food. My daughter witnessed this, now I doubt she will ever eat a frozen meal again. We are afraid to eat any of the others that we purchased.

Desired outcome: I really think that we should be compensated in some way. Perhaps a gift card would compensate.

Food Basics Dairy Milk

The milk I paid for is going to expire by 25th of this month [protected] as told by the cashier, I just purchased it few hours ago and I wanted it for long period of time so I told her and she said to grab another one so i took another bag of milk as she told me that she will refund it for me but later on she just came to me after discussing with her manager that she cannot refund it because it was under discounted price. So i just paid for it and when i came home and cut the packet the smell was awful. The milk has turned sour or was already expired i don't know but this was the first time i bought something from food basics but my experience wasn't good i am sorry.

Food Basics Littering onsite.

The parking lot and associated grounds are awash in litter ! Why is this ? Can you not have staff effectively keep the area(s) clean ? There is one trash receptacle and it's usually overflowing.

This is very unsightly and represents possible H&S concerns.

This pertains to the 5559 Dundas St. location.

Observed on August 7th. 2022 at approx. 4:30 p.m.

Desired outcome: Please keep the grounds clean & tidy. This does not represent the company in a good light.

Food Basics Items not available before closing!

On Friday July 22, 2022 at approximately 7:40pm I entered Food Basics to do my groceries in Bradford, Ontario. I went to the leafy vegetable area to pick some rapini and noticed there wasn't any. When turning back I saw a tall rack with boxes and noticed rapini in one of them. I asked the staff member why they were stacked up so early when it was only 7:45pm and the store closes at 9:00pm. He replied "we need to in order for us to leave the store by closing at 9:00pm as they do not get paid overtime". He did say I could get my rapini and I did.

I then went to get my grapes and saw there weren't any and asked another staff member and he said "there's some in the back because it's near closing and we remove them" so he went to get me a bag of red grapes. At this time it was approximately 8:00pm.

I feel as a customer this is not acceptable trying to get my groceries before closing. I was very frustrated and felt bad for the 2 staff members who assisted me to get my groceries because as this is "Food Basics" policy!

Not happy would like a compensation😕

Rose Tamburello

Desired outcome: Compensation and have groceries available before closing!

Food Basics Racism

I am a regular customer of food basics since 4 years. Today, Sunday 26th June, 8:05pm i was in the store for groceries. I was about to finish my groceries but suddenly the store manager came to me and grabbed my trolly from myself and started moving it to the cash counter by saying that the store is closed and you have to leave right now. First of all i am totally in shock with this behaviour of racism and secondly i have right to shop if i am inside the store. I was in the store before closing at 7:50pm. The manager and the other staff was laughing at me and my friend when he grabbed out trolly from us. This behaviour is totally unacceptable by your manger. This is an act to racism for us. You have to contact me personally by my contact number and this message should be forwarded to your manager immediately otherwise i am going to the police station for the complaint about racism and insult and further i will file a case against the manager and the company for my insult in court

Food Basics Rude cashier

Hello, good afternoon I would like to complain about the cashier on counter #5 in food basic leamington branch at 3:25pm today, june 23, 2022.

I got in her lane and she is about to finish on the customer she is assisting, so my instinct and my common sense told me that I have to get the bar to separate the items of different customers to avoid mixed ups. I put it in the moving conveyor and then she turn on me giving hand signals I honestly dont understand what it meant. She is pointing the bar or the items I dont know at first, so I assume it was the items she mean to say and put it in the vonveyor but I was shock I was wrong and she got mad and yell “put it back!” it was very rude and it made me feel upset as my children saw the whole thing happened and how the cashier treated me. I gave her a sharp look and dont want to make any scene as my young children watching me how should I react of the rudeness of the short asian old lady cashier who assisted us. As my items finished scanning another customer did the exact thing I did earlier but this time she is not mad and she is very welcoming to the next (canadian lady) customer. She made me feel like I dont deserved to be treated well or she have her different treatment to different customers? That is not right and she should act like a grown up in front of small children. I feel disrespected and degraded by the way she treated and gave service to me.

I am not happy on your staffs service. I hope you will do corrective actions about this matter.

I am a nice person but I know how to stand for my right when somebody is disrespecting me and I will not tolerate that kind of attitude towards me especially in front of my kids.

I just regret I didnt use the self serve : (I hope you will helped and do the right thing to do.

Thank you and have a wonderful day.

Desired outcome: talk to her at least or move her in another branch so I wont see her anymore. Sorry but she is unbelievable

Food Basics Customer service/incorrect labeling

June 10th 2022

I picked up a case of Blue Gatorade to purchase upon check out the barcode was not scanning, i told the cashier the price that was advertised and she asked a colleague to go confirm. Colleague confirm price and that all cases were in tack none were broken, she called a manager that approached my shopping cart and cut out the plastic wraper and started arguing that they were all sold individually I mentioned to the manager that all cases were fully intact which he replied to i don't care i guess noone has cut them up. I told him that he had no business in going into my shopping cart and cutting up my package without even actually acknowledging my concern.

This is not how you treat your paying customers and I would like to see another manager as he was threatening me he informed me that there are no other manager in the building and that I am not purchasing those for the $5.49 price point and I could pay the full price. I asked him to leave and asked the cashier for the headoffice phone number which was not provided instead she gave me their store's email address.

The so called manager Azar than turned to the cashier and told her that i was not to purchase the Gatorade. The entire irony in this whole situation was that there was another couple looking at the same Gatorade as I was looking at which they purchased a case for $5.49 2 cash registers over from where I was standing.

I have never been so humiliated and threatened in my life by manager that has no manners or customer service.

Food Basics Tainted milk

On April 29th 2022 I purchased a 4 liter bag of Lactancia 2% milk. When I opened one of the three bags from the 4 liter bag on May 1st 2022 I drank about a half a glass full of it. It tasted bad and when I took the main bag out of the fridge and looked inside; it had a horrible awful smell to it.

When I took it back to the Food Basics store on 889 Goyeau St. Windsor, On. I asked to speak with the manager. When the manager approached me I shared with him that I have been shopping at hes store for the past 13 years and have spent a lot of money in hes store. I then shared to him about the tainted milk I had just digested and also shared with him it was not the first time I had to bring milk back. Twice in one year I had to.

After sharing that info he did not ask me if I was ok, or ask me any questions concerning my well being. He then tried to skirt the issue and pass the blame on to the company who makes the milk. I said to him, "it is your responsibility to insure you are placing products in YOUR store that are safe for the customers who shop here". I asked him then what he was going to do to compensate me for the situation (travel, time, my health concerns for drinking it). Again he tries to pass the buck and blame the company the milk is from. Again I say to him "no it is your responsibility to insure a healthy and safe store for customers".

He disrespected me by minimizing the situation and just said you can exchange it or get your money back and walked away. When I said to him as he walked away "is this how you treat your customers and their loyalty shopping here for 13 years?" he just kept on walking not caring in the least bit. This is not how you treat people and I would like to know what can be done to resolve this injustice.

Thank You.

Desired outcome: At least a store gift card and a sincere apology.

I went to Foodbasics, 1875 Regent Street, Sudbury Ontario, Canada around 11AM, March 30, 2022. The self-check out staff Llord gave me a middle finger and humiliated me in public when I checked out. I only had two items in the cart. Vine tomato ($88c per pound, in total $2) and a cauliflower ($2.50). When I put the tomato on the scale, a phone call came...

Food Basics Rude manager and false advertising

Store # 650

March 19 2022 11:43pm

Cashier #132

Products I tried to buy were at the end of an aisle with .99 as the price. It was the selection brand canned red beans, medley, black beans, chick peas. No where did it say a different price. When I went to cash out, they were priced at 1.29. The cashier (very pleasant) wanted to be sure they were .99 so she asked a manager. The manager confirmed they were 1.29. The couple beside me stated it was false advertising. The managers response was," No, on this side of the isle it states 1.29" I responded to the cashier to go ahead and remove them from my order, then the Manager said "well if she is going to continue to argue with you, give it to her for .99". I replied I was not arguing and told the cashier to remove them. The cashier was very nice about it. The manager's response was rude and not at all professional.

Regarding False Advertising, I invite you to read: https://www.competitionbureau.gc.ca/eic/site/cb-bc.nsf/eng/03133.html

Desired outcome: Review of hiring processes, training & retraining. Store pricing should be clearly marked for all items no matter where they are in the store.

In Bracebridge, ON on February 23 2022 at approx 8 pm, we went to cash-out our groceries, utilizing the self-checkouts since the lineup for regular cashiers was quite lengthy. The cash we chose had little or no room for bagging, it was very awkward and didn't allow for easy cash-out. While we juggled our items, we were being stared down by a Food Basic...

Food Basics Sausages / steaks

Hi you've been selling bratwurst like sausages in your cooler, 14-15 for $10.
You seem to have switched that to 12 recently. Is that permanent?

Your $10 "cowboy" frozen steaks have gone from 10 to 0ver $12. Is this a permanent increase? The price has remained the same.

These represent around a %20 increase.

This in last few weeks; presumably all stores.

Chris Geyer

Desired outcome: reset to original or les that 20% increase

The Food Basics store at Albion Rd. and Thisledown Blvd., (Bostock Plaza) had their shopping buggies stolen some time ago.
