ELIDA DENTAL office is the one the most unprofessional dentist offices I been in NewYork City in all my 54 years. I had an appointment on 6/3/2021 at 3pm. I have dentaquest for my dental and aetna for my medical insurance. Dr. David Gavlin, looked at my x-rays of my front teeth which Dr. Howard Rowan from Elite Dental at 856 DeKalb avenue in Brooklyn already said I had an abscess and it got infected, at the root in the gums and I need a a Albacore, which they clean out the abscess and put a crown or something to secure the gums. But I am on antibiotics until this procedure is done. They said my insurance did not cover the CTScan for my mouth it was $350. I put in paper work with dentaquest to get reimbursement waiting for 72 hours. After I went back today and gave the $350 for the CTscan, before the time I reached home, the pre-authorization was denied, dentaquest denied it but the the CTScan would be under my medical insurance, I got all the information from aetna to give to Elida dental care office. I had to do a grievance with aetna. One of the doctors, which I hold Dr. David Gavlin fully responsible for their actions, told me if they put in pre-
authorization they will not get paid, so they have a grievance on their office on them from aetna and also on dentaquest. Then when I asked what to do in this situation?, he says to me rude and nasty, and of course after they got my $350 "Oh you need to go to the hospital dentistry", "we can't help you" and hung up on me. He just totally evaded me and disregarded me like I was trash and he does not needed a job. If you can't treat patients with respect then the same way you treat people is the same way you need to be treated. A "Lopez" a Receptionist which probably lying about their name, hung up on the customer service at Aetna medicare. This team is very unprofessional.

The office need to be questioned about conduct of dental office employees and give my $350 back cause they did not do the procedure in the first place and they need to lose their jobs, and licensing.

I had a very bad experience at Elida Dental Care (also called Elite Dental Care). In their office, the waiting room was very small and was padded with patients. Patients sat shoulder-to-shoulder next to each other. The environment certainly doesn’t pass the Covid-19 social-distancing code. When I was asked to take a full-mouth X-ray, I told the technician that I had already done that in another dental office. I showed her the X-ray copies and alerted her that my insurance co. would not pay for another set of X-rays. She told me not to worry and ensured me that they would not charge my insurance co. for the X-ray. But later on, I received a notice from my insurance co. that they charged $165 for the X-rays. They lied to me.

While I was waiting to be seen by the dentist, I saw him flirting and laughing with the female assistants in the hallway. He was acting very playful and flirtatious with them. He even reached out and tried to grip the female assistant’s headband. I couldn’t believe what I saw. A dentist behaved so unprofessionally in his patients' presence. He acted like he was holding a martini with girl companions on the beach. He finally walked into the room where I was waiting. His demeanor and attitude changed completely to be very cold, distant, and unfriendly. He neither greeted me as his new patient nor introduced himself as Dr. So-and-so. He didn’t ask me to remove my facial mask for examination. He didn’t even look at my referral letter that was written by my Endodontist for requesting a CT scan. I had to pull that letter out from the folder for him. When I asked him whether or not he was going to examine my teeth, he responded coldly to me that he would look at the X-ray and send the request to the insurance co. I had never seen any dentist who didn’t bother to examine the patients’ teeth. The next thing he did was walk out the door without saying anything to me. That consultation session was around or less than 6 to 7 minutes. I was shocked by his unprofessional behavior, lack of care for his patient, laziness in not doing his job, and how rude he treated me as his new patient. Before I left that office, I asked the receptionist for his name. She told me that he was Dr. David Gavlin, the director of that clinic. I was even more shocked when I heard that he was in the top position and acted the way he acted. After my visit, he charged my insurance co. $150 for doing nothing during our consultation session. I will never go back to that clinic again. I also don’t recommend anyone to visit that clinic, especially to be seen by that dentist. He should be fired for his unprofessional behavior and laziness for doing nothing for his patient and flirting with the staff in the presence of the patients. Shame on him!
