I purchased the Dell 17XPS, and started having issues from the first time I used it. I have called Dell over 10 times, been on the phone with them for over 40 hours, sent my notebook off for repair once tech has been to my home 3x and the unit is still not working. Spoke to Dell's executive team some many times can not count and the unit is still not working. Software downloads on Dell's sebsite. I tried to purchase a download of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 from Dell's website. The sales page clearly states, "Usually Ships: via email link within 30 minutes". NOT downloadable "via email link within 30 minutes". After several hours I finally got a "We received your order" confirmation via E-mail. After nearly 24 HOURS, Dell hasn't even charged my credit card yet. I purchased a Dell computer with preloaded McAfee security software. In the last month, on two occasions, the computer has gone "Blue scree" immediately after an automatic software update. I spend $200 getting it repaired the first time, was able to get it back myself the second time. Obviously I've removed the McAfee and have to get other security software. I have received an email on 22 May 2010 informing me that I have won a million US Dollars in a DELL COMPUTER LOTTERY ONLINE SWEEPSTAKES INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM. When I contact the claim agent he asked for a few personal details Name, surname, Country, adress etc. which I forwarded to him. Dell Computer's customer service is non-existent. My sister had a problem with her computer, she couldn't get on line and Internet Explorer wouldn't open at all. She got no program discs with the computer. After much effort she got Dell to send her discs to re-install Windows. Terrible Technical Support. My computer had issues so I called and paid for support. The tech guy had me run a disc drive test which came out error free! He immediately said it was the disc and I needed two new discs because both my discs were bad. He then proceeded to try and sell me a host of other hardware and software products.

If I listened to him I would have not only had to purchase new discs but reinstall my operating system, all my programs and data. A total nightmare.

I have been in the IT industry since 1988 and foolishly believed that it meant that if there was a hardware issue, i would see a tech the next day. This did not prove to be true. I just finished calling Dell to fix a simple shipping problem. Nine transfers and three hours later they could not figure out how to fix it. The facts are as follows. Son bought Dell laptop about 3 years ago while living in CA. Son now living in UT shipped laptop to Dell for repair and gave Dell his UT address for return shipping. Dell sends laptop to CA anyway. I received a letter from Dell Computer s to extend my warranty on my XPS 720 3 years for $249. and receive $50. in Dell Dollars back to be used for future purchases from Dell Home $ Home Office. When I placed my order, the person at Dell Computers couldn't understand me and I couldn't understand them. They said the warranty would cost me $300. and I would receive $50. in Dell Dollars.
