Banfield - Incompetence and overbilling

I took my dog, a Jack Russel Terrier, to Banfield Hosp. in Cincinnati today. His symptoms are diareha and vomiting. I've been thru this before. The treatment (usually) is antibiotics and hydration.
A Vet at the hospital. I will call him PK, seemed competent and knowledgeable. However, the same cannot be said about his assistants. Additionally, he tried to provide shots and unnecessary testing. But, more importantly, this so-called hospital did not have injectable antibiotics. WHAT????? What kind of so-called hospital that takes ER cases does not carry this staple?? Needless to say, I...

Banfield - Arizona, Phoenix - Attempted Rip-off

Complaint Rating: 0 % with 0 votes
My pet was in need of a teeth cleaning, at least the last time I took her to Banfield that is what they told me. I called several vets and Banfield quoted me the lowest price of $175.
The vets around me all quoted me from $325 to $400, so I went ahead & made an appointment at Banfield. A month passed and it was time, I had to get up two hours early to get downtown, but since I was saving sooo much money I felt it was worth the extra hassle of also driving a 2 hour round trip. When I got to Banfield they told me the cost was gonna be over $425! I took my dog back home and will let my local...

Banfield - New York, Mohegan Lake - Services not done

I unfortunately had to take my pets to the Mohegan lake location several times. When my pets first joined the wellness plan they joined at this location, When I finally made up my mind to leave this location I had called and wanted my three dogs medical records given to me so I could give it to our next vet. I called several times and asked that they fax the records to me. After several attempts today I finally know why they had refused to send them to me. I looked over my pets medical records and noticed of the four years I was bringing my pets to this location no blood test, heartworm test, stool...

Banfield - New Mexico - Banfield killed my dog

My chihuahua/dachshund mix went in for his routine comprehensive exam and teeth cleaning. Something he has had done every year for the last 4 years. When I picked him up, he was breathing a little heavy. I didn't think anything of it until the next day when he was clearly having a hard time breathing. I took him back to Banfield and they x-rayed him and "thought" he might have something in his lungs. They were getting ready to close so they rushed me out and told me, "if he makes it through the night" and he is still having a hard time, take him to the emergency vet clinic....

Banfield - Unprofessional

This is a follow up to the complaint I filed yesterday. I contacted Banfield customer service via their website and submitted my complaint. I got an auto reply email stating someone would get back to me within 48 hours. Well they did! The vet who misdiagnosed my kitten calls me and proceeds to defend herself and her exam/diagnosis of my kitten. She said she called me because I filed a complaint on her. I told her the one thing that was absent in her call was a simple apology. I told her I couldn't believe she would call me to defend herself and to tell me she "would never apologize"...

Banfield - Kentucky, Louisville - misdiagnosis almost killed my kitten

I adopted a kitten on June 9, 2013. It was a 5 week old rescued barn cat that my niece had found. I immediately noticed he had shallow breathing and a cough. I was very concerned as respiratory illnesses can be so dangerous for cats. I took him to Banfield for an exam. The veterinarian that examined HIM, kept call him her/she. I told her it was definitely a male to which she responded "I'm really not good at sexing kittens". This raised an eye brow. Anyway, after the exam and testing for Giardia and intestinal parasites my kitten was returned to me with an overall assessment of "Excellent"....

Banfield - Florida - Poor care for dog

Banfield is by far the worst vet I have ever been to. The wellness plans are a total sham - every visit, I've had to fight to get the vet to perform the most routine tests that are promised in the plan and even then, they find loopholes to charge you... They charge several times the regular rate for meds ect. so you end up paying for that you would have if you'd gone to a reputable vet. All of the doctors at Banfield are inexperienced and incompetent. They are clearly only concerned about getting as much money from you as possible. I worked at a vet for over 5 years and know a little bit...

At check in staff are using personal cells and texting making customers wait. Then techs try and sell you invasive procedures even if you already pay for wellness plan then act rude to you if you don't consent to get the procedure, then receptionist checked me out but didn't charge for medicine so I assumed they billed it to my payment account that I pay for the wellness plan but after leaving another receptionist called screaming on my personal phone telling me I'm a thief and sending me to collections and hanging up on me. I went back and paid bill but woman who called was too chicken...

Banfield - Virginia, Virginia Beach - Poor service, over charged, plan is a scam

I had just received a coupon for a free exam at Banfield. Within a few days my cat was showing some signs of difficulty urinating. I scheduled an appointment and of course was very concerned about my 14 year old baby. I have had him since he was 4 months old. I filled out all of my paperwork and waited and was finally seen by a vet. This vet tech was very good. And, I felt that the first vet I saw was also good. They said he needed blood work and I could save a lot of money if I bought the plan because the blood work was included in the plan. I was in such a state of fear that I signed up for it....

Banfield - Minnesota - Policy & Treatment

We ended up letting our dog be put out of her misery, and believe Banfield did not provide the care that could of helped her, at the very least, not to go through all that she had to. It seems as if money is their primary concern. I tried to deal with them, even through a collection agency and could not do it. Now we face a problem with our credit.
At one time, I was very pleased with Banfield. I even recommended them to others, but things changed. Banfield did not respond to that when I told them. Because of all of this, is why I feel that money, not the care and service, is their main...

I wish I read these reviews earlier. I will tell EVERYONE who has a pet this- and I am forwarding a description of my experience to EVERY pet owner I know. I moved to Maryland from another state and was looking for a vet for my 2 doxies. Banfield was quick to offer me the Wellness program and charge my credit card, but when my male dog had a paw infection a week later they were TOO BUSY to see him. I called for days for an apointment and finally drove to Virginia when the poor dog started limping. Shame on you Banfield!! They wouldn’t even let me speak to a vet!! My girl dog is there now for...

I have 3 major complaints with this company. I have already complained about one of them. But I want to complain about their Service fees and charges for extractions and teeth cleaning, and for Anal Gland procedures for your pet. about 2 months ago, I went into the office because my Small Maltiz-poodle mixed dog, who is 10 years old was in a great deal of pain of a enlarged anal gland that was stopped up. (not able to express normally) He had this large ball in the back of his behind. I tried to express it and could not get it to drain. So I took my dog Buttons to Banfield. There was a older (Caucasian)...

Banfield - Maryland, Bel Air - Neglecting my 4 year olds blood work

Sofie was one and a half years old when we began taking her to Banfield Pet Hospital in Bel Air Maryland. We purchased a preventative healthcare plan for Sofie that included two complete blood work panels and one urinalysis per year among other things such as fecal exams and vaccinations. Banfield provides these plans in order to catch any illnesses the dog may come down with in the early stages of development.

Sofie’s first comprehensive appointment was on 4/20/2009 and she was seen by Dr. Jill McLaughlin. At this appointment Sofie was given a blood test as part of the plan....

I called prior to my appointment to verify the cost of certain vaccinations I wanted to purchase for my two pugs. Bordetella, rabies, ect. Once I arrived for the appointment, we waited 40 minutes to be seen. Once in the exam room, I reviewed with the veterinary staff the purpose of the appointment; wanting certain vaccinations. They requested I leave the dogs with them for a time period. I agreed, but regretted doing so ever since. My appointment was at 1030 am, I was notified to pick up the pugs at 3pm. Upon my return at 430pm they presented me with a bill for $1, 700, but stated I could join their...

I have been a wellness plan member for 6 years and added my second dog to the plan 2 years ago. My second dog is a german shepard and is very active. Three weeks ago he cut himself pretty deeply and needed stitches. The plan coverd most of the cost and I had to pay a little over 300 to cover the stitches and meds. Two days later my dog removed his stitches and I took him back again, this time the damage was about 250 for the stitches and meds. Last week my dog cut himself again and needed more stitches. Another 300. Two day later he gets sick vomiting and diarrheal due to the antibotics that was...

When I signed up at your clinic I was told in advance that there was going to be one vet - so far there has been at least 10 there now I told there are two new ones and they want to do all these test on my dogs again. It seems like everytime you get a vet in your offices they want to do extensive work on the dogs that have been coming there for years (read the charts for gods sakes). I have an 2 elderly dogs and all they want to do is put them threw test that will cost me money (not them) and tell me what they want to happen to the dog (More money). I have already been threw this with the first...

Banfield - other side of story

Someone has to stick up for the poor overworked veterinarians at Banfield! Firstly remember that veterinary costs everywhere ARE high, there's no way of getting round that. Now, you have to realise that 90% of Banfield doctors are either new graduates or married women veterinarians who are just doing the job for some extra money and usually work part-time. Banfield pet hospitals are usually sited in less-desirable areas of big cities and operate like a big corporation, not like a regular doctor-owned veterinary clinic. As such, the veterinarians don't have any say in how many patients...
