On Tuesday, November 21st, around 3/3:30 in the afternoon, my husband called the local Banfield location to see if he could bring up our cat Clyde as we knew something was severely wrong. The office told my husband to bring him up there. They took a quick look and agreed it was an emergency but their office was closing at 6:00pm so we should take him to another pet hospital down the road.
Your staff offered to relieve his bladder just enough to get him to the hospital down the road. My husband said why would I have you do that when you're not able to fully treat him. Had we known that Banfield would not be available in our time of need, we would have never established a relationship or gotten a wellness plan on three animals. Why would anyone? When choosing a doctor for our pets, it just as important as choosing a doctor for your kids.
I realize your wellness plans are not intended to be insurance, but in your brochure to entice people to get your plans, it says if we use your services you get discounts on treatments and services which again your office was not able to provide the services so how can you offer discounts. As of today, November 24th, our cat Clyde is still in the hospital, it was a dire emergency and as of now we're up to a $2,500 bill and am expecting that to rise until he gets released possibly tomorrow.
I'm also not sure how Banfield can call themselves a hospital when you're not able to treat animals overnight. I don't know of any local people hospital where they only provide services during certain times. We are just SO dissatisfied with how this whole thing transpired.
Claimed loss: $2,500+
Desired outcome: We would like some sort of reimbursement for Clyde's services that were not able to provide at the other hospital since your office was closing at 6 pm.
