BofA Prepaid Mobile Extremely poorly designed app

I created my account online, I downloaded the app and I’m ready to go...well you would think so but that is not really the way it happens here. The app won’t recognize my ID and password.

I changed my password online and the app still will not allow me to log in. I tried ‘forgot user ID’ the app didn’t even send me an email to reset it.

This really should not be so much work just to get started. I have worked with many other financial apps and have never experienced this kind of frustration. I didn’t even want to give the app a single star but there wasn’t an option for -1.

This is the face of BofA and it isn’t making a good first impression. If BofA can’t make a good decision for an app design then they definitely shouldn’t be making decisions with my money.

I will just stop by the branch, pull out all my money and put it into another firm who has a functioning app.

BofA Prepaid Mobile Extra step for CA Unemployment payments

The only reason I have this card is because the state of California makes it a requirement to receive unemployment benefits. It’s an extra step that I find ridiculous. You should be able to provide the state your banking information I have money direct deposited into your banking account. It should be optional for use by people who don’t have bank accounts, not a requirement. I don’t see the need to add this extra step for people who do have bank accounts.
That aside, I will say that the system works well. If you file your employment claim on a Sunday, the money will be added to this card by Monday. And if you request a transfer from this card to your bank account on Monday, it will usually be in your bank account quickly. So even though I question the wisdom of the state making this extra step card mandatory, Bank Of America does make it work quickly. I haven’t had any problems with this card.

BofA Prepaid Mobile I hate your company and your app is trash

Features not well defined. It’s as if you went half [censored] just because the customer is on EDD. I have a regular B of A account and I can see the discriminatory difference. It’s a shame. Not feeling the difficulty of the app, when it should be extremely simple. Cannot transfer money over, because the app keeps freezing and telling me my account is invalid every time. You’re Only allowed a one time transfer, unemployment money is insurance money people paid into, you have no right to tell them how many times they’re able to transfer their money. Not feeling the app or B of A,Who have been cutting off all of their ATM machines in los Angeles, locking all of their customers out of their money for the past few months. I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to use my card having over $1000 on it, and your System goes down and does not give us access to our money, declining our cards and embarrassing us in restaurants and stores. it’s trash and so is B of A.

BofA Prepaid Mobile Garbage

Yes, the reviews are true. This app is worthless garbage. Its sole existence is to merely give you the balance.

The one thing I wanted to do is transfer UI funds to a “real” bank. Inexplicably, that important function seems to be missing entirely.

The account alerts also don’t work since you can’t even set it up. The app crashes after entering and confirming your email.

I originally tried to activate this card on the full BofA site. It always gives this error message:

System error. An unknown error occurred. Please try again later.

I eventually activated this card over the phone.

Since I managed to create and account on this garbage app, I figured the same login would now work on the full website. Nope. That would make too much sense. It gives you the same error message. Trying to create a new username from scratch also results in an error.

Does the full website let you transfer funds to another bank? Who knows, since you can’t even create an account to access it!

BofA Prepaid Mobile Login is unique from website

FYI to those having trouble logging in, you can force it to use the same username & password as the website, but it’s not set up that way. Deep in the FAQs (which you can read by clicking App Support in the App Store instead of actually being able to message support), it tells you some edits made in the app will update the website but most won’t. The app identifies itself to my password manager as digitalcardservices.com. The password requirements are weaker than the website. For such limited functionality, I don’t know if this app is worth the security risk.

Customer service is only handling lost & stolen cards at this time. The SMS help # on the website is wrong. It’s actually 868472. But all it does is tell you to call text messaging services [protected] because it never actually sends the SMS verification code. I got a human, but he didn’t work for BofA. He said he couldn’t pull up my card # so he said to call the customer service # on the back of the card and hung up on me. I’m glad our tax dollars are being wasted on this mess.

BofA Prepaid Mobile Temporary funds

My account got victimize by fraud and somebody took $1003 out of my account that money is for my bills and food for my daughter,I filed a claim and police report the day after I learned the my account got victimized by fraud and I called edd Bank of America right away to see if they can help me with the situation the very first customer service I talked to said that I can ask for temporary funds to help pay my bills and etc. while they're investigating my case but after days or so I called again and the person I talked to that they close my claim.Did they even investigate? So I called again and reopen the claim and still waiting or am I waiting for nothing. So I googled about Edd Bank of America fraud cases and I learned that Edd is being sued by a lot of customers that are victim by fraud too.All I'm asking is too get a temporary funds while they're still investigating so I can pay some of my bills. For the person whose handling this case the I called Hayward California police department and said they can help you/us get a copy of the surveillance on where the fraud activity occurred.Making the story short all edd customer service really don't know what their doing.Thank you

BofA Prepaid Mobile Anger

I have never hated an app enough to leave a review, so congratulations BoA you did it! I’ve seen many bad reviews about the app’s functions (or lack thereof) however, I don’t even get to log into the app. Upon arrival of my card I activated it and then immediately after tried making an account through the app, I received an error code saying that my card had to be activated. I called again to make sure it was activated and tried again assuming it was a delay due to high traffic, I then received another error code saying they couldn’t verify the card number or whatever so I gave up and figured I’d do it on my computer later on. After creating my account through the website I assumed I would be able to log on to the app. About 12 hours later I finally tried logging in and it said my password or username was incorrect. I reentered the information over and over and finally caved and went online and reset my password assuming I somehow made a typo, but no, no typo and also no log in. I decided to give it a rest and try again later. Well, here we are almost 2 days later, log in information in hand just in case I did accidentally forget anything. Alas, 4 tries later and I have yet to be granted the ability to log on to this terrible app. This whole ordeal makes me so very happy BoA is not the holder of my personal bank account.

BofA Prepaid Mobile They stole my money

I was using this app to check how much I had left on a Pre-Paid card that was getting filled every time I donated blood. Other than it requiring to enter a code they emailed to me every single time I used the app it worked fine for a while. Then they reported my card missing without me having any say over it. I didn’t make any questionable purchases or do anything to break terms of service, and despite being able to report it missing from my end, I couldn’t do anything to access it. I tried calling multiple numbers only to be told to enter my card number and told that the card doesn’t exist. I tried everything I could think of, but I have $100 just sitting on that card, completely unable to use it. After days of trying to figure it out I just cut up the card, it’s not worth ever working with Bank of America or the plasma donation place I frequented for a while. Do yourself a favor and either go to another bank, or if a plasma donation center gives you a Bank of America card, go to a different one. The stress I’ve gone through for the last couple of days has probably aged me by 20 years. I’m not one to get easily frustrated, but this is the most stressed I’ve been in years. Now I get to scrape by on Ramen, while just hoping that my next paycheck will be enough to pay rent. My situation probably isn’t the norm, but they make the hurdles to jump through to get help annoying enough that it’s not even worth taking the chance.

BofA Prepaid Mobile Out of touch

What originally prompts me to download this app was the apparent convoluted mess that is logging into the BoA prepaid card website offered through the company that issued my card. Unfortunately logging in means sluggish page loading and 4 gauntlets of verification that includes captcha and a “one time code” sent to my email. This one time code is necessary every time and does nothing to streamline the login process at all. So I downloaded the app and tried linking the card to the app. Their warning about not being able to use the existing login id or password was not even the issue, because it immediately prompts me to input my card number and all other card information. Instead they automatically rejected my card as not allowed for no apparent reason. The same card that BoA issues and says will work with the app. When I emailed BoA to point out this discrepancy, they just sent me a canned email with a link to the same app all over again and not surprisingly it hasn’t been updated to fix this glaring issue. BoA proves once again just how out of touch they are with customers who deserve an app that works and streamlines their experience, especially since the only function of this app is to view the balance. Either way taking over 5 minutes on their secure web page and being barred from using an app supposedly designed to work with this card is very off putting. I’m definitely not interested in opening a bank account with them if this is their version of customer care.

BofA Prepaid Mobile App serves almost no purpose

The app isn’t for BoA normal accounts. It’s just for unemployment benefits, and checking the balance of your money in that account.

I have to agree with most that this app is a waste of time. The only thing it can do is tell you the balance, but if you want to transfer funds, pay for something, you have to do that on the website.

What is dumb is that while you are on their website, there is a never ending pop-up banner trying to market the app and get people to download it.

BofA Prepaid Mobile Fire the App Development Team

Having to make a separate login for the app even though we already have a web login is unacceptable. I’m sure you have some technical excuse for why it’s necessary, but if you really wanted to fix this you would find a way.

You do not care about your customers and it shows. EDD recipients are FORCED to work with BofA so you know that we can’t just leave for a competitor. Luckily, my short term disability is over, so I will never have to do business with you again.

Good riddance!

BofA Prepaid Mobile Bad App

This app has too many problems. I spent an whole hour on the phone with a representative trying to match my address just to link my card. The app worked great after I finally got it. Then months later I had fraud with my card and had to delete the card and add a new one and again the same issue. The supervisor had to delete my account and I had to set up a new one just for the app to not be working. This is ridiculous! Either do away with the app or find a better Tech that can fix it!

BofA Prepaid Mobile App is archaic

I agree with other reviews. B of A is not my bank. Therefore every month I have to log in to the website and transfer money to my regular bank account to pay my bills that are electronically withdrawn from my primary account. That was annoying enough. Now I log into the website and it is constantly popping up to get this app. I have the app, it doesn’t let me do transfers! That is archaic! Make it even harder for single parents to receive child support money. Unreal. Get with the times.

BofA Prepaid Mobile Garbage App

Just the person above me said, this app is horrible
I am of a Bank of America customer and I still can’t even transfer all of my money over to my account.
Extremely frustrating
The website and app are both useless and frustrating to use. Website has constant log in errors and errors when completing transfers
Not even sure if you can transfer money using this app, which makes it more useless.
Their customer service also doesn’t work. They certainly do not care about people with disabilities

BofA Prepaid Mobile Who on earth wrote this app?

First of all, let’s just start off with why on earth existing card holders, with an existing account, are forced to creat a whole new login and reinput all their information?
Would it not make a ton more sense to just enable logging in with existing credentials?

Update:
The developer has contacted me twice now to inform me that this will be coming in a future update. Obviously they don’t take their app seriously hence the reason no updates or improved functionality. Awesome job BoA, I’m glad you’re not my actual bank.

BofA Prepaid Mobile Waste of time

I agree that this app should have the functionality to link to all of the existing account information so people don’t have to waste their time.

However the biggest waste of time is the fact there is no option to make transfers. Why would anyone need this app? I just wasted 10 minutes on this.

B of A should make sure they have a functional app before starting all of the annoying pop-ups to download it (which, by the way, don’t even properly link to the App Store). Isn’t there a lot of money in banking? Enough to create an app that works?

BofA Prepaid Mobile App Does NOT Work

Can not get the APP to work on iPhone or Android so it IS an app/app developer issue not operating system. Customer support was absolutely NO HELP whatsoever. After speaking with a floor supervisor, App still not working. I was told an escalation ticket will be submitted to see what the problem is and for me to call back in 3days. As I’m sure I will be told the same thing. I will add an update here in 3days with what I’m told at this time. Until then I’m just SOL, but wait... you can use the website if you need to, just not the app. SMH.

BofA Prepaid Mobile The worst

Wish I could find somewhere online or on the app where I can transfer funds to my bank so I can make rent and not go under. Online there’s no where and you’re forced to use this app and do a whole different registration than online. Then once it’s done, the app will not load long enough or keep from crashing to actually look around. I’ve spent an hour on this. Then I call to get it taken care of and got hung up on while being transferred. I get this isn’t first class service but could they at least not make it more difficult than it needs to be?

BofA Prepaid Mobile Useless

The state of Maryland insists that I use this prepaid debit card, but this app refuses to let me log in to my account and keeps telling me that my username or password is incorrect, although I know that they ARE correct. I’ve tried numerous things — including changing the password (several times), rebooting my iPhone, and deleting and reinstalling the app — but continue to encounter the same problem. I can log in to the BoA portal for the debit card with no problem whatsoever, so it’s this app that appears to be the problem. Like I said, if it will not allow me to log in, it’s useless.

BofA Prepaid Mobile Pretty slim

I was excited to see this app available for the prepaid side and expected the same great functionality as the regular BofA app. I was very disappointed! There is no explanation of coming functionality. Why in the world would BofA allow the release of this app when all you can do is see balance and transaction history? No backend look up either - you have to add your card manually. I almost didn’t go thru with it for fear that it was a scamming app. At a minimum there should be a disclaimer in plain sight that explains the lack of expected functionality that is standard in all banking apps.

BofA Prepaid Mobile pointless

this app is seriously so pointless. I installed it...and was forced to make a brand new login (even though I had made an account already on my computer) and then I could see all my information. The next day however, it only showed me my card details. It wouldn’t even let me see my account activity/balance. I even added the card again and it STILL didn’t work. BofA is too big of a company to have their apps not work. It is advertised as this super convenient app but in reality it is annoying & pointless. I wish edd would allow you to pick your bank. For now I’m just going to stick to my desktop version but BofA fix your app.

BofA Prepaid Mobile Developer comments

Honestly terrible app. First off why use a different login for the app vs the online interface? Once your past that, which is fine if you just have to do this once, then your looking at the app platform. Looks great, you can see the transactions, then you go to transfer money, which should be pretty much the main purpose of the app. Well guess what, you can’t. All you can do is suspend the card and view transactions. This is pointless, my suggestion is if you have a rather useless app, don’t spam Edd users with the app just to completely disappoint them. Fix the app then promote it. Doing it in reverse just causes confusion and frustration. Thanks

BofA Prepaid Mobile Pointless

The point of a mobile app is to let a user have easy on-the-go access from anywhere to the same functionality they can get through a browser application. Where this app completely fails is that you have to create an entirely new set of login credentials unique to the app; you can’t use your existing web credentials. This is stupid. Why this app was even allowed to be released is beyond me - imagine if Amazon requires you to create two sets of credentials for one person. It makes no sense at all, therefore this app is useless to me.

BofA appears to have thrown away money on this app, I’ve no earthly idea why they’d even release it with the above massive product flaw.

BofA Prepaid Mobile Can’t login after logging out.useless

Let me add my voice to the chorus of frustrated users. I successfully entered my card details, and was able to use the app. However, after logging out, I could not log back in. (I got the same error as others: “Sorry, we are unable to process your request at this time...” etc.)

Note that I also had to setup a new account even though I already had an account on the web. Lame.

When the above problem surfaced, I tried making a new account (with new username and email). This was initially successful, but when trying to logout and login with the second set of credentials, the same problem occurred. So it sure looks like something here is seriously broken, making this app next to useless.

BofA Prepaid Mobile App does not take web password

App does not accept web password. Looks like an afterthought and missing integration with website. And given that website has complete lack of any meaningful security model ( when I attempted to reset my password on their website, it offers to send a one time passcode to an email address that is not mine...I attempted the same a few minutes later and it offered yet another email address that is not mine... I call their customer service to report this and they very flippantly say that it is an issue that they are aware of and working on fixing it...how can they be so lax about security model.), I am not creating yet another account on their app to be hacked and no one held accountable for!

BofA Prepaid Mobile No Functionality

I’m curious as to why this app even exists, as it seems to have little to no functionality. About the only thing it is good for is to view the balance on the card, and the transaction history. There are no options for resetting a PIN, paying a third party, or even transferring funds into a different account. You’ll have to do that from their website. Luckily on the website there is an option for a “recurring transfer” to automatically transfer the full deposited funds into a different account. This pretty much makes the card and entire account superfluous. Unfortunately, there’s still the delay of a 3-day transfer period between deposit in the prepaid account, and your usual checking account.
