I have worked at the Vergennes Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. for four years. (Do you waste your breath and time filling out an application form). Every staff member thinks they 'own' the store and is the manager. The Employees are backstabbing, drama-hounds and love to cause negative hype in the store. The Managers do not care about your opinion and are full of lies. Their sanitation is only brought into attention, when it's 'word of mouth' that the Food Safety is in the store. Meat is left out in above room temp. for hours, and they do not care about their staff to customers. The Deli Staff and Bakery Staff are very rude and swear. (and this is advertised as 'You neighborhood grocery store' - where children pass by these areas, often. There are frequent times when rotten fruit to expired goods are hidden to not removed. (They have a survey, the staff in every department is given to fill in. This survey claims it wants to know how we can improve the store). None of the voices are heard of how to help get more customers in. Customer service is rude to makes scenes, and does not help the situation simmer down in agitation for the customer. Sexual stories are spoken out-loud for the public to hear while passing by. You are promised to be trained properly, and there is no real communicative skills used by the staff and mangers (you basically never really know how to do your job right)

Also to add:

They hire more people then they can give for hours. You shall notice, over time your paycheck will shrink to were it's pointless. (The only few that are considered "Favorites' will be given the mass hours over the entire staff under each department, and be listened to. (The manager of the store, is barely ever there). I could go on, but if you still desire to work at this Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc.: Do not expect much, and keep all of your live tightly to yourself. ANYTHING, you say about anyone even if it's nice - will eventually be twisted around into something bad. (Do not try and voice your opinion to your managers. They will try to keep you quiet).

We only have a limited time for lunch so to save time my friend went in and pre ordered grinders so they would be ready when i got thier to pick them up. i got there a half hour later to pick up and the girl says i just started them, when she finally noticed i was standing there . and when i said they were ordered a half hour ago so i wouldnt have to wait because of limited lunch time. she said im making them now. when i got them back to the shop they were made wrong as well. is there a reason for this kind of sloppy ness ive worked in delis for over 20 years and my customers were aways first .if someone gave me a time limit to get something dome it was done .another dayone of the girls was was just talking to another coworker and had to be told twice to wait on me than she waited on someone else first i thought you kept your customers happy so they come back .guess you dont need the business and they dont need pay checks
