Revolut review: Dreadful customer service and totally incompetent

As at 8/2/24. I tried at the request of Revolut to revive a card I had in 2019 but closed the account in 2021. Because I had had a previous account the process was a bit complicated as I had to try and remember some of the detail used earlier like an email address used (I could not remember it) my full name and date of birth easy of course and the mobile I had used for the old account but could not remember that either or a Passcode.

In the end I had to hold up a piece of paper up with some words on it and with my face in the picture ring at the same time which proved virtually impossible to do and the App would not take a picture, despite trying 4 or 5 times it did not work. I had to cancel the chat process and start all over again and the man on chat could never access the previous chat so all the detail had to be given all over again which was a nightmare. In the end I sent an email to Revolut saying unless I speak to somebody in person I would not re-apply. Their App was completely hopeless in trying go through what should be a simple security process. I already use another Foreign exchange card so don’t really need it anyway. I rest my case.

The case continues 15/2/24: They agreed to cancel all information about my old Revolut account so I could start afresh. so I started to apply for a new account as a new customer and follow the straight forward procedure using my new mobile and email address for security verification and the usual selfie photos/videos and acceptable document details for ID Passport etc. However not so simple as it turned out, again the Sign In process lead me to a brick wall again as they said you still have an old account with another mobile No so I gave up again.

When I later complained about the abortive process on the new application they then had the audacity to say that they were no longer able to offer me any kind of service at all.

What is the point in dealing with a company that is so incompetent that they throw in the towel when things get too difficult for them. My advice is Stay well Away from this company as they are totally useless. There are a few other good Foreign exchange companies around namely. Wise.com, Bunq.com and others. Heaven help us if Revolut ever get a Banking license.

Desired outcome: A sincere apology for their inability to talk to people in person. Their chat service is totally useless.
