I've been a member of SWA Rapid Rewards for a long time, and I gotta admit, they've spoiled me over the past 20 years! But I gotta ask, why would SWA let an outside partner take advantage of me? I tried to use my SWA points for a car rental through Quality Reward Travel (QRT), and boy was that a mistake. I made a typo in the pickup location and called QRT within 5 minutes to fix it, but they wouldn't help me unless I paid them $35. Can you believe that? They wouldn't even cancel the transaction and return my points. I had to pay them first or lose over 300,000 SWA points. That's not how SWA does business, is it? I want my $35 back, and I'll give them 10 days to make it right. If they don't, I'll complain to SWA and the ComplaintsBoard.com. This is just shameful.

I'm a Southwest Airlines reward member for almost 10 years. My hubby and I wanted to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary with a trip, but Covid messed up our plans. We booked flights with rewards points, but SWA canceled them due to Covid. So, we decided to rent a car and explore the state. I booked a rental car using my rewards points on SWA rewards site. After booking, I realized we couldn't return the car before it closed, so I needed to extend my trip by a day. I called the number on the reservation, which sent me to Quality Rewards Travel, and asked to extend a day. They said they couldn't change it, and I had to call the rental car company. I called the rental car company, and they said they couldn't change it since it was booked through a 3rd party, but Quality Rewards could. So, I called back to QR, and they said they couldn't change it, and I had to cancel the reservation, pay them $35 to cancel, and then they wouldn't give me back my points for 7-10 days, so I couldn't use them to rebook a new rental car with the extended day. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and they transferred me to Terri, who said there was nothing she could do. I complained to Southwest, requesting them to end their business relationship with Quality Rewards as they don't provide quality customer service as SWA does, and it's a scheme to get YOU to pay $35. I can understand a $35 cancellation fee, but if I'm FORCED to cancel to make a change, that's a SCAM. Because if I were to rebook with the changes made, they would still get the MONEY for the transaction. So, this is 100% a scam, and the public should be alerted. If I cannot use my rewards points without hassle and fear of being scammed, I told SWA I have no choice but to cancel my SWA credit card, which is a loss to Quality Rewards and SWA, all because they felt the need to gain $35 and not allow a change? That's just bad business, and the public should be warned.
