I needed a declaration of insurance from the dealership because my premium was 578.82. The declaration was needed to lower that and tried contacting them over three weeks and no one has gotten back to me. On sat 25th i called and told them that im tired of waiting and no one contacting. *** from the front desk has informed me that communication was an ongoing issue and she would handle it herself, which she did and was able to. She also stated that finance would cut me a check because of the lack of communication which costed me my increased premium. She was able to fax it but my insurance told me it might have been too late. I was told to call on monday and get in touch with *** superior. Upon talking to him i informed him of the situation and he told me it was my fault and would not give me his bosses name. Generally just being very rude.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
As a vehicle dealership we do not have anything to do with a customer's personal vehicle insurance (where they get it from, how much it costs, ect.).
If someone finances a vehicle through us with a third party lender, the lender requires the customer to have insurance at time of purchase. This is normally the valid insurance the customer already has in place on another vehicle at time of purchase, with the understanding the customer has to switch the insurance coverage to the vehicle they are purchasing.
When *** bought the vehicle from us he did not have any active insurance coverage. Through a third party (***) we offer 7 day insurance coverage that can be bought at time of vehicle purchase to satisfy the lender requirement of having insurance. Please see attachment. This is the seven day insurance coverage that *** purchased when he bought the vehicle from us. It is clearly stated at the top that the coverage is effective 4/30/2020 to 5/7/2020. This contract was signed by *** on the date the vehicle was purchased and *** had a copy of this.
After *** purchased the vehicle from us there would have been nothing else we would have been able to provide him regarding his personal insurance coverage. We do not issue insurance and therefore would not have been able to provide any type of insurance declaration. The insurance coverage *** purchased was with *** and he had the signed insurance contract (attached).
It appears that *** did not get insurance coverage on the vehicle he purchased from us when the 7 day coverage expired. If he incurred any fees from his lender regarding letting his personal insurance lapse, that would be on him.
We also have no control over how much insurance premiums are going to be for any given customer. As you are aware insurance rates are based on a host of personal factors for each individual and the value of the vehicle that is being insured. Most customers know how much it is going to cost to insure a vehicle before they purchase it. We would have no control as to what insurance company *** would choose or how much his coverage would cost. His proposed resolution of our dealership paying his personal insurance premiums does not make any sense. We are in no way responsible for how much his insurance costs, or the stated difference of $238 vs $578.82.
