My Name is Manda, I am deaf and require subtitles on dvds to be able to watch it. My favorite dvds is LAW & ORDER SVU.. However they dont have subtitles on ANY of the dvds which i am extremely angry about. Deaf people are clearly disadvantaged and not equal on this case. The DVDS SHOULD HAVE ENGLISH SUBTITLES ( which is my language) AND BASIC/ COMMON LANGUAGES SUBTITLES. I want to buy law and order dvds asap with ENGLISH SUBTITLES. It CANT be that hard!

Your remote on your dvd has a button that says subtitle on it press it in while watching the dvd the subtitle will show eng that will show on the screen other languages will show stop when you see eng which is English. When you order movies they should say Closed Captioning that says the dialect like English, Spanish for instance Subtitles English. http://www.amazon.com/Law-Order-Special-Victims-Eighth/dp/B001LXIDWC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1262327556&sr=8-1
Theres a web address scroll to the bottom. You should search on Amazon you can find almost anything on there. Best of luck!

Doesn't your television have Closed Captioning already on it? Usually if it does, the CC code(I think that's what it's called) is already imprinted in the episodes when it's "on the air", so when it goes to DVD, it should still be there. Give that a try. I'm not Hearing Impaired myself, but CC is great to use when I didn't catch what was said because a lot of the actors mumble, LOL.

I do, however, have a tendency to pick up those annoying frequencies like vacuum cleaners and can tell when CRT televisi0ns bug out in the next room. I haven't tried those newfangled LEDs or plasmas yet.

Good luck!
